Stampin’ Up! Easter Basket Sneak Peek Locking Gate Card with Video for Creative Creases #111

Good morning and happy Friday!  Hope your week has gone well – and that you’ve got something planned for the weekend!  Even if it’s just chillin’ at home and recovering from the holidays.  Maybe un-decorating!?  That’s my plan, for sure. 🙂

Today’s card is a flashback fun fold – I did one like this several years ago.  It’s a Locking Mechanism Gate Card – and I did a little refining from my original!  For today’s, I’ve got a sneak peek of some products that you’ll be able to get next week in the new Jan-Apr 2026 Mini Catalog!  The Easter Basket bundle and coordinating Easter Joy Specialty DSP are darling – and will get you in the mood for Spring!  Take a look-see:

You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards –  at this month’s Creative Creases Challenge! 😎 We’re ALWAYS wanting to see pretty fun folds so…I hope hope hope you’ll make one (or three!) and come share them with us! 🙂

I started by creating a regular gate card by scoring a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Lemon Lolly cardstock at 2 1/8″ from each short end.  I folded both score lines as valleys – making the gates.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered 2″ x 5 3/8″ pieces of new Easter Joy Specialty DSP to the front of each gate panel.

For the inside, I stamped an Easter Basket sentiment in Shy Shamrock on a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock.  Across the bottom, I stamped the flowers from the set in Shy Shamrock.  I colored the flowers with the Light Pretty in Pink, Light Shy Shamrock, Dark Peach Pie and Dark Lemon Lolly Stampin’ Blends.  Then I added a sweet little butterfly from the Softest Spring Mix & Match Puffy Stickers (coming soon in the Jan-Apr 2026 Mini Catalog).

I adhered the panel to the inside of the card base with Liquid Glue.

To make the locking mechanism,  I scored two 2 3/4″ x 4″ pieces of Basic White cardstock at 1 3/8″ on the short side and folded them.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the two folded panels to a 2 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Lemon Lolly cardstock – with the folded edges touching in the middle.  Then I used more Liquid Glue to adhere a second 2 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ to the mechanism – sandwiching the mechanism between the two Lemon Lolly pieces.  This is why I made a video on how to do it – be sure to check that out – it’ll help, I promise!! 🙂

On one side of the mechanism, I adhered a 2 3/4″ x 4″ piece of the Easter Joy Specialty DSP with Liquid Glue.

Using the Easter Basket dies, I cut out a basket from a piece of Crumb Cake Easter Joy Specialty DSP.  I used the rectangle die in the set to cut out a bunch of Balmy Blue cardstock strips.

I wove three of the Balmy Blue strips into the basket, used a little Liquid Glue to secure them in place and then trimmed the excess with scissors.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Easter Basket bunny and three carrots in Crumb Cake ink and cut them out with the coordinating Easter Basket dies.

I colored the bunny’s ears and nose with the Light Pretty in Pink Stampin’ Blend and the carrots with the Light Shy Shamrock and Dark Peach Pie Stampin’ Blends.

I used the egg die in the set to cut two Easter eggs from a piece of the Easter Joy Specialty DSP.

I also cut out two grass strips from Shy Shamrock cardstock.  I adhered one to the back of the easter basket with Liquid Glue.

Using scissors, I trimmed off the bottom of the die cut bunny – leaving his arms intact.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere him to the basket – with his arm hanging over the front.

Then I adhered the eggs and the carrots with Liquid Glue.

I popped the basket onto the front of the locking mechanism with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a Lemon Lolly Easter Basket die cut bow with Liquid Glue.

On a 3/8″ x 1 3/4″ piece of Lemon Lolly cardstock, I stamped an Easter Basket sentiment in Shy Shamrock ink.  I used scissors to cut a banner end and adhered it with Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered the second grass strip to the bottom of the basket with more Liquid Glue.

I added some new Easter Assortment easter eggs – a couple in the grass and a few “hidden” around the basket and the card front/locking mechanism was done!

To close the card – just slide the two gate panels into the “X” of the locking mechanism!  Boom!

He doesn’t have to have his leg iced any more – he’s pretty much back to normal now.

But – I’d taken this shot of him with his emotional-support-moose….

I just thought it was too cute not to share! 🙂
