Stampin’ UP! Hidden Slider Gift Card Holder – Three Ways for Christmas!

Hey guys – happy Sunday!  Hope your weekend is everything you needed it to be!  We cleaned up the house yesterday so…I suspect TODAY will be my day for organizing in the craft room!

But – what I DID get done was…SIX super cute gift card holders.  I love giving Gift Cards at Christmas – always the right size – the right color – exactly what they need!  But…I hate just sticking it in a card.  So I like to make fun gift card holders.  The ones I am currently loving have a surprise hidden slider mechanism on the inside!  I decorated them with North Pole Delivery Specialty DSP and the Jolly Delivery stamp set, Modern Christmas Specialty DSP and some pretty Ephemera, and Elegant Pines DSP with Delicate Pines sentiments and die cuts!  Take a look-see:

Fun – or elegant – your choice!

I saw these made on Karen Titus’s video and used her measurements to make my own! 🙂

So – all the card bases are 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ – scored at 2″ from one end and then at 2 1/2″ from the opposite end – on the long side.  Both score lines are folded in.

The slider mechanism is a 4 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock, scored at 2″ from one end and 1/2″ from the other end on the long side.

For each of the cards, I used the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch to punch a half circle in the short end of the 2″ side of the mechanism.

For the Jolly Delivery holder, I stamped a Jolly Delivery sentiment in Garden Green ink – just below the “thumb hole”.

I matted some North Pole Delivery Specialty DSP on Pool Party to put on the inside of the slider mechanism before I adhered it inside the card base.

I matted North Pole Delivery Specialty DSP on Pool Party panels and then adhered them to the two front panels of the Secret Sea card base.

I put two lengths of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the 1/2″ section of the white slider mechanism and adhered it on the inside of the card base – lining it up with the 2 1/2″ score line.

I folded the bottom portion of the slider and then used Tear & Tape on the edges of the 2″ portion of the card base to adhere it in place – “capturing” the slider mechanism.  Note – the bottom part of the slider is “loose” – there’s no adhesive on the sides.

For the front, I cut a small Perennial Postage die from Basic White cardstock.  In the corner, I stamped a Jolly Delivery sentiment in Garden Green.

I used a couple of die cuts from the North Pole Delivery Specialty DSP  –  adhering a die cut “shop” with Liquid Glue and the dog with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the video, I used a little dog and a bear!

I used Liquid Glue on the top part of the Perennial Postage die cut to adhere the sentiment just to the top flap of the card front.  Then I added some Dear Dots and the holder was done!

These fit nicely into Basic White Medium Envelopes – so I decorated the flaps with more North Pole Delivery Specialty DSP!

For the second version, I used a Basic Black card base and Cherry Cobbler mats for my Modern Christmas Specialty DSP!  Sentiments from the Greetings for You Mix & Match Ephemera – and some pretty die cuts from the Time for Celebration Mix & Match Ephemera did all the work on this one!

I used the largest Stylish Shapes circle die to cut out a Cherry Cobbler circle.  To that, I used the adhesive on the back of the Time for Celebration ephemera die cuts to adhere a couple of berry boughs, a wreath and a bow.  Then I adhered the circle to the top flap of the card base with Liquid Glue.

I adhered the Greetings for You Mix & Match Ephemera sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I added five Cherry Cobbler Faceted Snowflakes.

I adhered more Modern Christmas Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

On the inside, I added a second Greetings for You Mix & Match Ephemera sentiment just below the thumb hole on the slider mechanism – and decorated the inside of the slider with more of the Modern Christmas Specialty DSP – matted on Cherry Cobbler.

The final design uses a Secret Sea card base and Pretty Peacock mats for my Elegant Pines DSP!  I decorated it using sentiments and die cuts from the Delicate Pines bundle.Stampin' UP! Hidden Slider Gift Card Holder - Three Ways for Christmas! - Stamps-N-Lingers

I used the Delicate Pines dies to cut out a large snowflake from Peaceful Garden Glimmer Paper (the lightest one), and a large and small snowflake (pine-flake?!) from the Elegant Pines DSP.  I adhered them together with Liquid Glue – then adhered them to the top flap of the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used a Glue Dot to adhere a little bow tie with black twine from the Black & White & Gold Baker’s Twine.  I stamped a Delicate Pines sentiment in Pretty Peacock on a 1/2″ wide strip of Basic White and snipped angled ends in the strip.  Then I adhered it over the bow with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Note: don’t be like me – put your sentiment on STRAIGHT so you don’t have to go back and fix it like I did! 🤦‍♀️

I added some Pretty Peacock Faceted Snowflakes – and the front was done.

The inside of this one got Pretty Peacock-matted Elegant Pines DSP on the inside of the slider mechanism and a second Delicate Pines sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink.

This one got more Elegant Pines DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This Hidden Slider is one of the coolest ways to gift a Gift Card that I can think of!!  Whether you decorate it with North Pole Delivery Specialty DSP and the Jolly Delivery stamp set, Modern Christmas Specialty DSP and some pretty Ephemera, or the Elegant Pines DSP and Delicate Pines sentiments and pine-flakes….or do something completely different!…you’re going to have a winner!!  And your recipient will love your gift even MORE!! 🙂

I hope you like!
