Stampin’ UP! Monochromatic A Child is Born Christmas Card with Video

Good morning – happy Sunday!  Well – as always happens – this session of our Krew Retreat is drawing to a close today! 🙁 We’ll do our traditional picture on the front porch – eat one last meal together around the big table and then…off to the four winds we’ll go.  It’ll be sad but…we’ve had the BEST time – and are already planning for NEXT YEAR!!  Whoo-hoo!  Amy and I are staying on (thank you for not kicking us out for these two days, James!) and will be joining our second group when they arrive on Tuesday!  Have I said…WHOO-HOO!!

Today’s Christmas card (the next in this year’s Twelve Saturdays Until Christmas Series) is one I really love – it features the beautiful A Child is Born stamp set from the Sep-Dec 2025 Mini – and is very much tone-on-tone in Pecan Pie and Basic Beige.  Take a look-see:

This one started with a new product – the Whispers of Texture Specialty Paper (coming as a new Online Exclusive on 4 Nov).  As the name implies, it brings a mere WHISPER of texture to your projects.  And since it’s all white – it’s a perfect springboard for anything you’ve got up your sleeve!

For this one, I had Pecan Pie ink and a Small Blending Brush up my sleeve!  I used them to color a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ panel of the Whispers of Texture Specialty Paper that I then adhered to the front of a Pecan Pie card base using Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic Beige cardstock, I stamped the large Nativity from A Child is Born in Pecan Pie ink.  Over Mary’s shoulder, I stamped the star image from the set, also in Pecan Pie ink.

I carefully tore around the image, keeping a rectangular shape and tearing TOWARDS me.  Note: tear towards you or away – whichever is more comfortable and whichever look YOU like best.  But – whichever you choose – do it ALL the way around! 🙂

With the panel torn, I used the Blending Brush again to add Pecan Pie ink around the edges.

Then, I tore a piece of Pecan Pie Two-Tone Cardstock down to the same size as the art panel and adhered it at an angle on the card front with Liquid Glue.  I adhered the art panel over top – straight – with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a bow from two lengths of white Baker’s Twine from the Black & White & Gold Baker’s Twine pack and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

On a piece of Basic Beige cardstock, I stamped a sentiment from A Child is Born in Pecan Pie ink.  I tore the paper down to size, blended the edges with Pecan Pie ink and adhered it over the bow with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some Basic Beige Neutral Matte Dots to the card front and one large, clear, Faceted Snowflake to the middle of the large stamped star – and the card front was done!

For the inside, I stamped another A Child is Born sentiment in Pecan Pie ink on a Basic Beige panel.  Over the top, I stamped the manger in stamped-off-once Pecan Pie ink.  I added the star cluster in Pecan Pie as well.  Seeing a trend here?! 🙂

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the Pecan Pie card base and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the A Child is Born manger in Pecan Pie ink on the front…

…and the star cluster on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The A Child is Born set is one of my favorite religious Christmas sets of…maybe…ever!  I think it is so elegant and simple and beautiful.  And the sentiments are simply…perfect!
