Stampin’ UP! Birch Wood Scenic Adventure Card

Good morning!  Welcome to September and happy Labor Day!  Hope you got a three-day weekend and that you’re enjoying it! Tomorrow’s back to work!

My card today is NOT a sneak peek – gasp! – but rather harkens back to an Online Exclusive that you can get right now (as opposed to the ones releasing day-after-tomorrow!).  It features the Scenic Adventure bundle and Birch Wood 3D Embossing Folder.  Along with some Two-Toned Cardstock.  Take a look-see:

The layout was inspried by this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge!

I did a quick video on how to make this pretty card, which is posted on Instagram.  If you’d like to give that a watch – click here!

I started with two pieces of Pecan Pie two-toned cardstock.  I tore the top from one – with the light side up – and then ran it thru the Birch Wood 3D Embossing Folder.  I placed it in the folder so that the LIGHT side is DE-bossed.  Then I adhered it to my Pecan Pie card base with Liquid Glue.

Next – I tore the bottom edge of the second piece – with the darker-side up.  Then I ran it thru the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with the Scenic Adventure mountain die in place on the other (top) edge.  I adhered IT to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used the trees die from Scenic Adventure to cut three trees from a piece of Mossy Meadow two-toned cardstock.  Note: I ran it thru twice with the dark side of the cardstock up and once with the light side up.

I adhered the two dark tree die cuts to the card front with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals – then used both Liquid Glue and a couple black dimensionals to add the lighter one in the center.

I tied a bow with some new White & Gold Baker’s Twine (coming on 3 Sep – that’s day after tomorrow!) and adhered it with a little Liquid Glue.

I stamped the Scenic Adventure sentiment in Pecan Pie ink on a piece of Basic Beige cardstock.  Then I used scissors to cut out the sentiment.  It’s okay – take your time.  You can do this! 😉

Then I used double-stacked Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the fussy cut sentiment over the bow.

I added five clear new Faceted Snowflakes (they look like stars and they’re coming on 3 Sept as an Online Exclusive) and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a Scenic Adventure tree three times in Mossy Meadow ink in the corner of a Basic Beige panel.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the Pecan Pie card base and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the three Scenic Adventures trees on the front…

…and I stamped another Scenic Adventures image in Pecan Pie ink on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  It’s so easy to get caught up in the “new” (and I WILL be right back there SOON!) that we forget the been-around-a-minute awesome things on the shelf.  Like the Scenic Adventures stamp set and bundled dies!  It’s an amazing set for making all sorts of outdoorsy projects – and it’s particularly wonderful for those masculine cards we always need.  This one would be a great thank you card – a congratulations card – even a birthday card!  Birch Wood 3D Embossing bumps my two-toned cardstock up SEVERAL notches, don’t you think!?

I love Hallmark movies, that’s pretty much all I watch at night. During the day I’m usually in my craft room making cards, watching your videos, or reading my Bible. You’re lucky, you have a companion to watch Hallmark movies with.
