Good morning good morning! Happy FriYAY!! Hope you’ve made it thru the week unscathed – and have a good weekend ahead of you! 🙂
My card today celebrates the fact that there are only 125 days to Christmas! Yes. It’s true. Practically tomorrow.
Not really – but…was going for some drama!
I pulled out the beautiful new Modern Christmas Suite – this new Online Exclusive will be available on 3 Sept! I actually used ALL the parts of the suite – the Modern Christmas Specialty DSP, the Ornamental Christmas Bundle – and even the new Large Gold Hoops AND the Black & White & Gold Baker’s Twine!! It all came together perfectly to make this super cool faux center-step card. Take a look-see:
I started with a 5 1/2″ x 8″ piece of Basic Black cardstock that I scored along the long side at 3″, 6″ and 7″. I folded the scored lines as a mountain (3″), valley (6″) and mountain (7″). This is the main card base.
One of my fave designs from the elegant new Modern Christmas Specialty DSP is the black with gold stars – and I used it for all the panels on the card.
I matted two pieces of that DSP – a 2 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece for the larger front panel and a 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece for the narrow front panel – on Gold Foil panels using Liquid Glue – and adhered them to their respective panels Note: this DSP pattern has an “up and down” direction, so…be sure you’re making note of that as you cut the pieces, okay? Unless you LIKE sideways stars…. 😎
Then I scored a 1 1/4″ x 6″ piece of Basic Black cardstock at 4 1/4″ – and folded it as a mountain. That’s the step panel.
I matted a 1″ x 4″ piece of the DSP on Gold Foil – and adhered it to the longer end of the step.
I used Liquid Glue on the bottom 1″ of the step panel and adhered it to the narrow bottom strip – centering it and aligning the bottoms. Then I closed the card base and used more Liquid Glue to adhere the smaller portion of the panel to the back of the main card base – thus creating the center step.
On a 2 7/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from the Ornamental Christmas stamp set in Versamark Ink – sprinkled it with gold Metallics WOW! Embossing Powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool.
When it was cool, I stamped the Ornamental Christmas tree three times in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. When THAT was good and dry, I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the back of the card base. That ALSO covers the “seam” of the step panel! Bonus!
Now to decorate the front!
Using the dies in the Ornamental Christmas set, I cut out:
– Four “glimmers” from Gold Foil. You’ll only need three – but the dies each cut out two at a time, so…..
– One large star from Gold Foil.
– One small star from Gold Foil.
– Two of the ornament hangars/tree stands from Gold Foil. These both look the same!
– Five round ornaments from Gold Foil – the die will cut out all of them at once.
– One Christmas tree from another piece of the Modern Christmas Specialty DSP.
Note: in the video – you’ll see how I was able to cut all the Gold Foil pieces from the Gold Foil mats I’d cut – obviously BEFORE matting them. Up to you if you want to do that, too! 🙂
I adhered the small star, the five round ornaments and one of the tree stands – to the die cut Christmas tree. The tree stand goes on with the wide-end-UP to be a tree stand.
Using scrunched up Glue Dots – I adhered a new Large Gold Hoop to the step panel.
Then, using small Black Stampin’ Dimensionals – I adhered the large die cut Gold Foil star.
I used more small Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the decorated tree to the step panel.
On a piece of Basic Black cardstock, I stamped a second Ornamental Christmas sentiment in Versamark ink. Then I sprinkled it with gold Metallic WOW! Embossing Powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool.
When the embossing powder had cooled, I used the ornament die from Ornamental Christmas to cut it out. Then I adhered the second “tree stand” to the top – with the wide-end-DOWN!
I tied a little loop from some new white twine from the Black & White & Gold Baker’s Twine (part of the suite and available on 3 Sept) and adhered it on the back of the ornament with a Glue Dot.
I adhered the ornament with a combination of black Stampin’ Dimensionals and Liquid Glue. Finally – I added three of the gold foil die cut “glimmers” and…the card was done! 🙂
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Ornamental Christmas trees on the front…
…and more of the gorgeous Modern Christmas Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Well – wow! This new Modern Christmas Suite is…simply stunning! Is there anything more elegant than black-and-gold for Christmas?! And this suite brings it all together just right – with the Modern Christmas Specialty DSP setting the stage. The coordinating Ornamental Christmas bundle has perfectly beautiful sentiments (that font!) and die cuts to make ALL your Christmas projects! And – the Large Gold Hoops are so much fun! 🙂
I hope you like!
