My card today is…not my usual. Minimal layers. Not a lot of embellishments. No Linen Thread to be found. Yikes! But – it turned out pretty cool (she says modestly) and I hope you’ll like it! It’s showcasing a new stamp set called Prairie Grass – which you’ll be able to get on 1 July with the new Online Exclusives! The cool Simply Said Mix and Match Stamp Set provides a quick and pretty sentiment. Take a look-see:
The layout was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge – I just flipped it!
To make the cool background, I pulled out my Clear Block E. I scribbled color on the block using the Dark Cloud Cover Stampin’ Blend (on the top third), the Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blend (middle third) and the Dark Summer Splash Stampin’ Blend (bottom third). I made sure that the ink covered the entire block.
I used a Stampin’ Spritzer – filled with rubbing alcohol (not water) – to spritz the ink on the block.
Then I pressed the block (color side down – duh) on a Basic White panel.
When the panel had dried, I stamped the big, beautiful image from the Prairie Grass stamp set (available on 1 July) in Secret Sea ink.
Then I added the Simply Said Mix & Match sentiment – also in Secret Sea ink. Man – I LOVE this color soooo much!
I added three dragonflies (from the Adhesive-backed Dragonflies & Birds) and the card front was done!
For the inside, I stamped a second image from the Prairie Grass set in Secret Sea ink on a Basic White panel – and added another dragonfly!
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the Thick Basic White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done. Easy peasy!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the smaller Prairie Grass image on the front…
…and the tops of the large image across the envelope flap!
Et voila! How easy – and gorgeous! – is that! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Prairie Grass stamp set – and KNOW you’re going to love it, too (can’t wait for you to get it on 1 July!). It’s super cool – that silhouette on the fun background made with Stampin’ Blends and a Clear Block is awesome! And the Simply Said Mix & Match Set offers several sentiment options – ANY of them would work for this card! I think you need to make a FEW of them – what OTHER color combos can you think of for the background??
I hope you like!

SOMEone was rolling in some old hay. With leaves. And dirt.
Who was it, Mom!? Was it that BIG dog?!
Is it really any wonder that she’s itchy?! 🤦♀️

Such a pretty card Mary! Love the way that you did the background! And it definitely was that big dog that was rolling around in the mess…and then some of the mess just jumped on her. 😉 Ginny understands…sometimes stick, leaves and twigs jump on her out of nowhere too. 😂
Yes – those things are dastardly – and the dog ALWAYS gets blamed for their bad actions, right!?! Poor innocent dogs! ;). Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂
Addy is adorable. What kind of dog is she? You are lucky to have her. My son left his dog when he passed as well and I have her. I think it helps to ease the pain of his loss. I come to your blog to see your cards and stay for the puppy pics!
LOL – thank you! And I’m glad you have your son’s dog – but…very sorry for your loss, Cindy! :(. Addy is a Havanese/PBGV cross! 🙂
I love the simplicity of this beautiful card. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much! 🙂
Love, love, love the simple beauty of this card! Thankfully, my Prairie Grass stamp set is on it’s way.
Thank you so much – and you’re going to love it! 🙂
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE…so serene and peaceful with not much going on’cept for a silhouette and some alcohol ink magic. Addy Lu has such an innocent face 😉 It MUST have been that BIG dog!
Yes – it surely wasn’t HER!! A lady! ;). Thanks, Karen – glad you liked the card! 🙂
Love everything about this card, Mary! You’ve done it again, convinced me I need yet another stamp set!
Silly Addy, getting down and dirty. I think she’s just trying to be a farm kid! 😉
She’s a Farm Dog! Just ask her! LOL! Thanks so much, Pat – and yes. You DO need this stamp set!! 🙂
Mary,
I love this card – simple but so beautiful!! Works great for a guy too.
Your new addition is such an adorable pup. Love her!
Thanks so much, Gerri – I’m glad that you like it! And yes – she’s a sweetie. 🙂
This is a beautiful card! I love that wispy foliage and that background you’ve created! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
Thanks so much, Jen – I appreciate you stopping by! 🙂
Ooooo loving that prarie grass!
I know – this is a WONDERFUL stamp set!! Thanks! 🙂
