Stampin’ Up! Poppin’ Simple Birthday Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.  We’ve got a sketch challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table.  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

I’ve used two sets today – the first is the one-stamp Simple Birthday – one large “statement” image! – and the cute Poppin’ By bundle – to make a super fun birthday card!!  Take a look-see:

And here’s our sketch!

To begin, I used the next-to-largest Perennial Postage die to cut out a piece of Daffodil Delight paper from the new Brights 6″ x 6″ DSP…

…and adhered it to the front of a Poppy Parade card base – at an angle – using Liquid Glue. Note – as you can see – I didn’t center this panel – it’s pushed up and to the right on the card front.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the big sentiment from Simple Birthday in Misty Moonlight ink.  Then I used the same next-to-largest Perennial Postage die to cut it out.  Note:  when you make this, cheat the sentiment as far to the top and right side of the die cut as you can! 🙂

I adhered the sentiment – straight! – onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using the three little Poppin’ By popcorn dies – AND their embossing inserts – I cut out five pawcorns from the same pattern of Daffodil Delight Brights 6″ x 6″ DSP.

Using Stampin’ Dimensionals – and a little Liquid Glue – I adhered the five pawcorns to the card front.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Poppin’ By sentiment in Poppy Parade ink.  I used Paper Snips to cut the sentiment into two pieces – and adhered them to the pawcorns with Liquid Glue.

To make the popcorn box – I stamped the Poppin’ By image on Basic White twice – once in Poppy Parade ink and once in Daffodil Delight ink.  Then I used the coordinating die in the Poppin’ By set to cut them out.

Using Paper Snips – I cut off the popcorn part of the Poppy Parade image.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the “empty” Poppy Parade box to the Daffodil Delight die cut box.

I used the sunglasses and shoes dies to cut from Misty Moonlight cardstock and then used little dots of Liquid Glue to adhere them in place on the “filled” popcorn box!

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the completed popcorn box to the card front.

I added five Daffodil Delight dots from the Opal Rounds Assortment and the card front was done.

For the inside, I used the largest Perennial Postage die to cut out a rectangle.   I stamped some pawcorns in Lemon Lolly ink a few times and added “pop” in Misty Moonlight ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the Poppy Parade card base and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got a Poppin’ By pawcorn and “pops” on the front…

…and more of the Daffodil Delight Brights 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Fun, right?!  Poppin’ By is a super cute little set – gotta love pawcorns, right?! And the big, bold sentiment from the Simple Birthday stamp set (is it a “set” if there’s only ONE stamp? 🤔) is a great focal point for all those birthday cards we all need all year long! 🙂

  3. Terry Lynn Bright

    Such a F-U-N card!

  4. The tip about nudging the sentiment to the top-right of the die cut is such a smart one—those little details really help the layout feel intentional. I also love the contrast between the angled background and the straight sentiment panel!
