Good morning and happy Friday! Hope you’ve had a good week and are looking forward to a three-day weekend! Hopefully you have Monday off!
My card today is a fun – and easy! – fun fold – I’ve called it a Triple Flap Criss Cross Card. No clue if that’s it’s real name but…it surely does tell you what it is! This one is festooned with some die cut Beautiful Butterflies – flittering and fluttering across a background of Beautiful Bokeh DSP! And – I’ve left the inside blank – so it could be a birthday card – a new baby card – Anniversary – promotion at work…SOOO many things that might need celebrating! Take a look-see:
I started this one by making a basic gate fold card. Starting with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Pecan Pie cardstock, I used my Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score on the long side at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″. I folded both score lines “in” – aka…a typical gate fold. 🙂
Using Liquid Glue, I matted two Fresh Freesia pieces of the Beautiful Bokeh 6″ x 6″ DSP on Daffodil Delight and then adhered them to the two “gates”.
The triple criss-cross panels are three pieces of Beautiful Bokeh 6″ x 6″ DSP. On the Fresh Freesia piece for the middle panel, I stamped the Beautiful Butterflies sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink – pushing it as far to the right side of the panel as it would go.
Then, using the little splatter image from Beautiful Butterflies, I stamped splatters in Berry Burst on all three panels.
I matted all three panels on Daffodil Delight cardstock.
I closed the gates and then used Liquid Glue on HALF of each of the matted panels to adhere them to the gates. The top and bottom matted panel are adhered on their LEFT sides and the center on its RIGHT side. Uhm – it case it’s not clear from the picture – the Liquid Glue goes on the BACK of the matted panels. 🤦♀️
Using the dies in the Beautiful Butterflies die set, I cut out three Berry Burst and two Daffodil Delight small butterflies and small butterfly bodies (3 Berry Burst and two Daffodil Delight. I also cut out FIVE of the butterflies from the flowerdy pattern in the Floral & Gingham Vellum Specialty DSP.
I lightly curled the wings of the Vellum die cut butterflies and then used a little Liquid Glue in the middle section to adhere them to the cardstock butterflies. I used more Liquid Glue to adhere corresponding bodies to the wings.
I adhered the butterflies on the top and bottom panel using Liquid Glue.
I tied a small bow from Gold Twisted Thread and adhered it to the panel with Liquid Glue. On the back of the butterfly, I used two small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensional – one behind the head and one on the bottom end of the body – and used them to adhere the butterfly over the bow. Note – with ALL the butterflies, you want to be sure they’re not hanging far enough off the edges that they interfere with the opening and closing of the three panels.
All clear as mud? Check the video and ALL will become clear! 🙂
I added three silver pearls from the Basic Gray & Smoky Slate Pearls to each of the three panels and the card front was done.
On the inside, I stamped the Beautiful Butterflies detailed butterfly in Daffodil Delight ink in the corner of a Basic White panel. I stamped the splatters in Berry Burst – stamping them twice in each spot (the second stamp is offset the tiniest bit and NOT re-inked before stamping!).
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the card and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Daffodil Delight butterfly and Berry Burst dots on the front…
…and more of the Beautiful Bokeh 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! So – the Beautiful Butterflies bundle is…wonderful! I LOVE the pretty die cut butterflies – and that there are great sentiments and stamped butterflies, too – lots of occasions to celebrate with this set! And let’s not forget the Hybrid Embossing Folder that is part of this bundle! Bokeh is so on-trend – and this Beautiful Bokeh 6″ x 6″ DSP is perfect in ALL its colors!
I hope you like!

Such a pretty card! The fun fold design is awesome, perfect way to showcase those butterflies! And yep…pictures and then nap, sounds like a perfect day to me! 🙂
Yep – it really does, doesn’t it?!? Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂
It’s exhausting being so cute
It really is – especially for a true professional like Himself – who puts his ALL into it ALL the time! LOL! Thanks!
I like those little butterflies! I’m not a butterfly lover (gasp!!) in general, but those little fellers are cute.
I’m barely recovered from the shock of…knowing someone who doesn’t like BUTTERFLIES!!😳. But I AM glad you like this card! Thanks! 🙂
