Stampin’ Up! Splendid Autumn Beauty of the Season Card

Good morning, y’all – and happy LAST DAY of September!  We got our Christmas tree up yesterday and it looks really pretty!

I am totally kidding, of course.  But…make no mistake – Christmas will be here a-fore ya know it!

But – for a minute – let’s enjoy FALL!  And today’s quick and easy card for sure does that.  It features gorgeous sunflowers from the Splendid Autumn 6″ x 6″ DSP and some die cut leaves and a sentiment from the Autumn Expressions bundle.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by the sketch at this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

And it fit perfectly with the Hand Stamped Sentiments inspiration challenge, too!

I did a quick video on how to make this one, which is posted on Instagram.  If you’d like to give that a watch – click here!

I started by adhering a Cajun Craze-piece of the Splendid Autumn DSP to a Crushed Curry mat.  Using Liquid Glue, I adhered a second piece of the DSP – with the sunflowers – to the top of the card front.

Using two of the leaves dies in the Autumn Expressions die set, I cut out five Crushed Curry leaves and five Wild Wheat leaves.  Fronds?  Maybe that.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere a Crushed Curry leaf to a Wild Wheat frond – creating five two-leaf pieces.  I did that just to make it easier to work with them – and to space them on the card front.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the five leaf combos to the card front, spacing them evenly.

I tied a little bow from Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped an Autumn Expressions sentiment in Cajun Craze ink.  Then I adhered it over the bow with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some Cajun Craze Faux Glass Dots – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Autumn Expressions sentiment in Cajun Craze. Over the top, I stamped the oak leaf from the set twice in stamped-off-once Crushed Curry ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the Old Olive card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Autumn Expressions leaf in Crushed Curry on the front…

…and more of the Splendid Autumn 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Wow – the Splendid Autumn 6″ x 6″ DSP is endlessly gorgeous, isn’t it?!  So many beautiful designs and “scenes” – but…I confess that THIS one is my fave. Those sunflowers slay me!  And the coordinating Autumn Expressions bundle – with it’s pretty leaf die cuts – make for a perfect pairing!

Finn Fan Fix

Today Finn goes to the beauty parlor to get his pre-trip-primping!

And…it’s needed.

He’s a little… uhm…hmm.

Stanky??

Humans just don’t get it, do they, Finn?

A guy works and works to get the JUST RIGHT level of odiferousness.

And Mom carts him off to the hair bender for a shampoo and blow out.

Sigggghhhhh…..

Such a pretty card! Love the layering and the designer paper that you’ve used is perfect! Poor Finn…getting all cleaned up and pretty is not what a boy wants. 😂

    • stampsnlingers

Nope – no farm-boy-dog wants to be froofy AND fluffy! The horror! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Kate

    Beautiful card!!!
Groomy lady not due here until after you leave – guess any Addy odiferousness just has to add to her charm…

I haven’t used this particular pattern from the DSP nor the dies yet. Dang, Mary, you’ve done gone and made me want to not hoard it! Love the card and design.
