Stampin’ Up! Charming Duck Pond Sliding Puzzle Hello Card with Video Tutorial for Creative Creases #83

Good morning and happy day-before-the-Memorial Day weekend!  I hope you have something fun planned with the time off – but…I ALSO hope that you’ll take a minute or two on Monday to say a little prayer of thanks to all those who gave their lives in the pursuit of OUR freedom!  It’s really NOT all about the “beginning of summer” and outdoor bar-b-ques! 🇺🇸

For today’s card, I’ve got a pretty – and cool! – fun fold, called a Puzzle Slider.  And – it features the too-cute Charming Duck Pond bundle and the pretty – and fun! – Lily Pond Lane 6″ x 6″ DSP!  Take a look-see:

You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards –  at this week’s Creative Creases Challenge! We’re all about the Fun Folds and I hope you’ll come and join us!

I started with a 4 1/4″ x 9 1/2″ piece of Peach Pie cardstock.  Using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool, I scored on the long side at 1″, 2″, 7 1/2″ and 8 1/2″.

I folded the two inside score lines – that would be the 2″ and 7 1/2″ lines – as valleys (“in”).  And then I folded the remaining score lines as mountains (out”).

I did the inside first on this one – it’s easier, trust me!  On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Charming Duck Pond cattails grass image twice in each bottom corner – once in Pretty Peacock and once in Granny Apple Green.  This is a two-step image – with the second step the three cattail “tops”.  I stamped those in Pretty in Pink and Peach Pie.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the panel on the inside of the Peach Pie card base.

The puzzle pieces on the front start with four pieces of Peach Pie cardstock.  Then I cut out a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of the Lily Pond Lane 6″ x 6″ DSP.  Using my Paper Trimmer – I cut the panel into four pieces.  First – I cut the panel in half lengthwise – at 2″.  Then I cut each resulting strip into two pieces.

This template shows the cut lines – the “top” strip is cut at 3 1/8″.  The “bottom” strip is cut at 2 1/8″.  Tip:  Make sure that when you cut your panel – you are mindful of any directional design.  Once you’ve cut it in half at 2″ – then keep “putting your puzzle back together” after your cuts.  That way – you can keep everything where it belongs.  I’d be sure to check out the video down below – it’ll help! 🙂

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the four DSP panels to the four Peach Pie cardstock mats.

Then – again using Liquid Glue, I adhered each matted piece to the card front.  They’re adhered on the outside “1” wide portions of the card front – with the edges aligned.

With the panels on – I created my sentiment circle.

I used the largest Stylish Shapes die to cut out a Basic White cardstock circle.  I stamped the Charming Duck Pond sentiment in Pretty Peacock near the bottom.

I used  the Charming Duck Pond dies to cut out…

– Two cattail grasses – one from Pretty Peacock and one from Granny Apple Green cardstock.

– One cattail grass from a piece of Peach Pie Lily Pond Lane DSP.  Using Paper Snips – I trimmed the two cattail tops – and used a little Liquid Glue to adhere them to the top of the Granny Apple Green die cut grass.

– Three Granny Apple Green lily pads – I used the three-pad die.  When it cuts – one pad comes out seperate, and two remain together.

– Two large and one small Water Lily flower from a piece of Pretty in Pink Lily Pond Lane DSP.

– One fun duck from a piece of the Lily Pond Lane DSP – I LOVE when dies cut out images right from DSP, don’t you?!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the grasses, lily pads and flowers.  Then I popped the die cut duck on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using Liquid Glue JUST on the left section of the card front, I adhered the sentiment circle to the card front.

To finish off – I added three Dragonflies to the front of the card – and one on the inside, too! 🙂

Now – here’s a note.  I made this card twice.  Once with the measurements that I’ve already mentioned (that was the card I made in the video).  And once with a little different measurement for the DSP panel that made up the card front.  THAT one is the one in all the photos above.

Here’s how it will look if you make it with the measurements in this post (and in the card cut list at the bottom).

And this photo shows the difference.  Full disclosure?  I really prefer the more narrow reveal of the cardstock around the DSP.  What do you think?!

Stampin' Up! Charming Duck Pond Sliding Puzzle Hello Card with Video Tutorial for Creative Creases #83 - Stamps-N-Lingers

If you DO prefer the wider reveal – all you have to CHANGE is the size of the DSP panel (cut it at 3 3/4″ x 5″ versus 4″ x 5 1/4″).  Then – cut the panel in half – at 1 7/8″ on the short side.  Cut each strip into two pieces – and those will be 1 7/8″ x 3″ and 1 7/8″ x 2″.  Mat them on the Peach Pie pieces (those are the same size regardless of which card you make) and proceed as instructed.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Charming Duck Pond cattails on the front…

…and more of the Charming Duck Pond DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This Puzzle Slider has been sort of “making the rounds” in the past couple of weeks – and I can see why!  It’s so fun – and really so easy, right!?  It’s a great design for showcasing a pretty DSP – like the Lily Pond Lane 6″ x 6″ DSP I used here.  And – Charming Duck Pond.  Was this on your order list??  No?  Well, I understand that – but…I hope this card will have changed your mind!!

Such a cute card! The fun fold design is perfect with that designer paper! And how else are you supposed to get to the really, really bottom of the bag?? 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

No – it’s obviously the ONLY way! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Stephanie A

    Now that’s funny!

What a great fun fold card, Mary! I haven’t seen this one before, so I have your video ready to watch in a little bit. This bundle is on my “enable me” list because I love ducks. I’m more interested in the dies than the stamp set but you are pushing me towards the bundle with this adorable card. Hope you have a great holiday weekend.

    • stampsnlingers

Have fun with it, Debbie – and just get the bundle! I think you’d be sorry if you don’t have the stamp sets! Thanks! 🙂

  4. Oh, I love the way this fold looks. I’m going to have to give it a try. Tfs.

I LOL’d at the pictures of Kady (not sure how to spell her name) and Finn with the feed bags!!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Faith! That’s not Cady – a feedbag would be WAAAAY beneath her royal pony-ness. Hand feed me, peasant! Glad you enjoyed the card! 🙂
