Stampin’ Up! Hope You Know Sea Turtle Center Easel Card for the SU Demos Fun Folds Blog Hop

Good morning everyone! Welcome to this month’s Fun Folds Blog Hop for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators!  We’ve got a talented line-up and…I think you’re going to like what you see!  This is a once-a-month hop and…all our cards will be fun folds!!  How cool is that?!?

One of my crafty team members posted a card on our team FB page a few weeks back (thanks, Darryl!) and – being an easel card AND a little different than I’d seen before – I was intrigued.  I decided I’d put one together for you today – and decided it needed to be an underwater scene (I appear to be in that mode right now!).  This one features the cool Reversible Sea Turtle stamp set and – my go-to for these – the Beauty of the Deep die set.  For a sentiment – I pulled out the Hope You Know set.  Then – I thought it would be fun to use some watery colored paper from the new Full of Life 6″ x 6″ DSP (this is new in the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog, available on 1 May).  Take a look-see:

Although it’s not very Cinco De Mayo-ish, I did pull some elements (green – enamel dots –  thread – interactive) from the Festive Friday inspo list…and they have sea turtles down in Mexico….right?!?

I started with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock that I scored at 4 1/4″ on the long side.  Then I cut the cardstock off at the 6 3/8″ line.

To make the easel – I scored a 2 1/2″ x 3 5/8″ piece of Granny Apple Green at 1/4″ on the long side.  I folded that and then used Liquid Glue to adhere the little 1/4″ “tab” onto the short panel of the card base.

I matted two pieces of the new Full of Life 6″ x 6″ DSP

…on Shaded Spruce mats.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere one of those matted panels to the short panel of the card base – covering that easel tab.

I matted a Basic White panel on Shaded Spruce using Liquid Glue and adhered it to the inside of the card.

On the second matted DSP panel, I stamped the detailed side of the pebble image from the Sea Turtle stamp set in Shaded Spruce.  Then I adhered it at the bottom of the inside panel.

To make the easel panel – I trimmed the 6″ x 6″ piece of Full of Life 6″ x 6″ DSP down to the final 3 3/8″ x 3 7/8″ finished size – making sure that the center of the “rays” were in the middle of your panel.   Then I adhered it to a Shaded Spruce mat using Liquid Glue.

Next, I used the Beauty of the Deep die set to cut a Melon Mambo and a Lemon Lime Twist coral and then adhered them to the DSP panel using Liquid Glue – making sure they didn’t extend past the top of the easel panel.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the large detailed Sea Turtle image in Shaded Spruce ink.  Then I cleaned off the stamp and turned it over on the acrylic block so that I could use the solid side to stamp the image in Granny Apple Green.  That’s the fun of Reversible stamps!

I used Paper Snips to cut out the turtle and then adhered him to the easel panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut two more little Beauty of the Deep corals – one medium in Lemon Lime Twist and one small Melon Mambo – and adhered them with Liquid Glue.

I tied a simple bow with two lengths of white Baker’s Twine and adhered it over the coral with a Glue Dot.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Hope You Know sentiment in Shaded Spruce ink and then cut it out with the next-to-smallest Stylish Shapes circle die.  I popped it over the bow with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added five Iridescent Foil Gems and then, using Liquid Glue, adhered the bottom of the panel to the Granny Apple Green easel on the card base.

The easel stop is the smaller Sea Turtle – stamped with Shaded Spruce and Granny Apple Green (same as the first only…smaller!) and fussy cut.  I adhered him to the strip on the inside of the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals – and making sure he didn’t extend past the bottom edge of the card base.  Doesn’t he look like he’s skimming along just above the bottom of the reef?!  I added a few more Iridescent Foil Gems to make it sparkle a little more!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the small Sea Turtle on the front…

…and more of the Full of Life 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.  I also stamped it with the detailed pebbles image in stamped-off-once Shaded Spruce.  Cuz…it was sitting there just begging to be stamped!

Et Voila!  Okay – this is a really cool variant of an easel card – just something a little different from usual!  And I love how the Sea Turtle set worked with the Full of Life 6″ x 6″ DSP.  I think it opens up a lot of fun possibilities with this very colorful and bright new DSP!  The Hope You Know set – all sentiments – is a very handy set to have on your shelf.  Beauty of the Deep – once again…beautiful undersea die cut “foliage”! 🙂
