Stampin’ Up! Submarines & Bright Skies Hello Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.  We’ve got a sketch challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table.  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

Now – you might have to squint just a LEEEETLE bit to see the sketch in my card – but…it’s there.  Really!  I used two bundles – the Bright Skies and Submarine Life bundles – plus some pretty Just Kiddin’ DSP.  Take a look-see:

And – here’s our sketch!

I was flipping thru the catalog and got to the Submarine Life bundle and – as I was looking at the SU samples, I thought – “well, that’s goofy – they put the sub upside down”.

And then – I looked more closely and the lightbulb went off.  It was a BLIMP!

Oh – my – gosh!  What a brilliant idea.  So – I immediately copied it!! LOL

I started by using Liquid Glue to adhere a piece of Just Kiddin’ DSP to a Flirty Flamingo panel for the card front.

Using  a Blending Brush – I added some Balmy Blue ink to a piece of Basic White cardstock, leaving the ink kind of splotchy.

Using the three cloud dies in the Bright Skies bundle, I cut out a medium and a small cloud from the inked panel.  I also cut out a large and two more small clouds from a piece of plain (uninked) Basic White cardstock.

I stamped the sun from Bright Skies in Lemon Lolly on a piece of Basic White cardstock and cut it out with the coordinating die in the Bright Skies set.

I adhered the largest die cut cloud to the card front with Liquid Glue – keeping the glue near the center of the die cut.  I stamped the little bird from Submarine Life three times in Balmy Blue ink.  Then, using Liquid Glue, I tucked the die cut sun and one of the un-inked small die cut clouds underneath.

On the medium-sized, inked die cut cloud, I stamped the Submarine Life sentiment in Balmy Blue ink – then adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the submarine/blimp in Flirty Flamingo and the propeller in Azure Afternoon ink – then punched them out with the Submarine Life Punch. Since it IS a blimp – and they DO scroll messages on the side – I stamped “Hello” from the Submarine Life set in Balmy Blue ink.

On the small, inked-up cloud – I stamped the little flag image from the Submarine Life set in Balmy Blue – then adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added the final small (un-inked) die cut cloud, the sub and the propeller with Stampin’ Dimensionals and…the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the blimp, propeller and a couple of little birds on a Basic White panel.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat and into my Azure Afternoon card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got a blimp and a bird on the front…

…and more of the Just Kiddin’ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! Okay – this is a really good reminder to not be afraid to think outside the….OCEAN! LOL!  Submarine Life is plenty cute in it’s natural underwater environment but…a simple 180 made it into an adorable little blimp.  And there’s even a BIRD in the set!  I love the cloud die cuts from Bright Skies – and that stamped/die cut sun is the cutest!  Finally – the Just Kiddin’ DSP has fun images on one side – but…the OTHER side of the papers are really beautiful in wonderful colors! So – don’t assume that it’s not for you!  You’ll be pleasantly surprised by its versatility!
