Stampin’ Up! Merriest Framed Moments Boughs of Holly Christmas Card

Hello hello!  Welcome to a new week!

I’ve been making a LOT of Fall cards – and tomorrow will be a Halloween card for our Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop – so…I decided to go back to Christmas today!  I pulled out the returning fave – the Merriest Moments stamp set and Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder.  I paired them with a NEW fave – the Boughs of Holly DSP.  Take a look-see:

Stampin' Up! Merriest Framed Moments Boughs of Holly Christmas Card

The layout for this one is from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.

The color palette is from the Color Throwdown challenge.

And I used elements from the Festive Friday Inspo list: Red, Flower, Die Cut, Thinking of You (on the inside), Ribbon (sort of!) and Stitching!

I started by embossing a Basic White panel in the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder and then matting it on a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock for the card front.

Next up – I cut out two Stitched Rectangle die cuts – using the 4th-from-smallest wide rectangle dies – from two designs of the Boughs of Holly DSP.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the two die cuts to the card front on a sweet little angle!

On Basic White cardstock, I stamped several foliage images from the Merriest Moments stamp set:

– Small Poinsettia flower in Cherry Cobbler – with a Daffodil Delight middle

– Large and Medium Holly Leaves in Evening Evergreen

– Two large Pine Boughs in Mossy Meadow

– Mistletoe sprig in Old Olive

And I cut them all out with the coordinating dies in the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder (which has dies in addition to the embossing folder)…

I stamped a Merriest Moments sentiment in Daffodil Delight on a strip of Basic White cardstock.  I snipped a banner on the right end and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere all but the die cut flower and one of the pine boughs to the card front – tucked under the sentiment.

I tied a small bow from a piece of gold Simply Elegant Trim and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

Using a couple of Dimensionals – and a dab of Liquid Glue – I adhered the final pine bough to the end of the sentiment banner.  Then I added the die cut flower – again with a couple of dimensionals and some Liquid Glue.

I added some Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels here and there – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Merriest Moments in Daffodil Delight on a Basic White panel.  Over the top, in stamped-off-twice Evening Evergreen (so…stamp twice on scrap paper before you stamp the panel – all without re-inking) – I stamped the pine bough image from Merriest Moments.  Then I added another Red Rhinestone.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Daffodil Delight mat and into my Cherry Cobbler card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Merriest Moments pine bough in full-strength Evening Evergreen on the front…

…and more of the Boughs of Holly DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think it’s no wonder at ALL that Stampin’ Up! brought the Merriest Moments stamp set – with the coordinating Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder – back, right?? And the Boughs of Holly DSP is just gorgeous – SO traditional for Christmas – the colors and the florals are wunnermus!

Finn Fan Fix

I bought a new pan.

It’s a Hamburger Roll pan.

And I officially love it!

It made these…tasty but…a little flat….

Turn out like….THESE!

And – it’s the same exact recipe! I just divided them into 6 rolls and patted them into the pan before the last rise.  https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/beautiful-burger-buns-recipe

Now – part of this recipe included brushing the tops of the rolls – before AND after baking! – with a little melted butter.

Which requires a basting brush.

Finn helped me clean up.

Probably would have been more helpful if he’d been putting the brush IN the dishwasher instead of trying to sneak it into the living room where he could lovingly lick every bit of butter from the bristles.

I DO get that desire, though…. 😂

And no – I did NOT slather butter on a warm roll and muck it down – no matter how very VERY badly I wanted to do just that!!

Oh my goodness I would have had to try each one warm with butter!!!

    • stampsnlingers

It took every ounce of willpower NOT to do JUST THAT! Thanks, Mary! 🙂

  2. Such a pretty card Mary! Love the design, perfectly layered! The rolls look amazing! And I’m sure that Finn was just helping to make sure that none of that butter ended up going to waste in the dishwasher. 😉 He’s a very helpful guy!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – and we all know that butter in a septic system is BAD BAD BAD! So…it’s a Public Service! 🙂 Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  3. It’s a beautiful card and you created the design perfectly for the challenge. Finn is so funny. He takes after his Mom. I did wonder what you were cooking up during the meeting yesterday? Something in an instant pot or crock pot?? You are definitely Able Baker Charlie’s sister! The rolls look delish.

Instant Pot Apple Butter. And the rolls. The timing was just such that I really needed to work on them in the middle of the meeting!! Thank you, Karen! 🙂

  4. Lynda Fiorito

That Finn is a good boy helping with the dishes. My Blue helps as best he can, he wishes his tongue was a bit longer though….LOL
