Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Daydream Mother’s Day Fun Fold with Video Tutorial

‘Sup, y’all!? It’s Friday again!  I am pretty certain that weeks did NOT go by so fast when I was working! The weekends did, for sure.  But…the weeks….nope.  I guess that’s just the way it works, huh? 🤷‍♀️

If you were able to join me yesterday for my YouTube live – I appreciate you spending part of your day with me – and for your patience with…whatever was causing the screeching y’all could hear.  Sheesh!!  If you weren’t able to watch, but you’d like to see how to make this bright and cheerful card, here’s the link to it on YouTube!

One of my teammates, Leslie Larkin, made a card for our team blog hop this week and she used a very cool fun fold.  So…I decided to use that fold, but…make it into a Mother’s Day card with a pretty bouquet of Daffodil Daydream flowers made with FREE Simply Marbleous DSP and more of my current obsession…FREE Daffodil Afternoon DSP.  Take a look-see:

I for sure think this is an “occasion” so… I played along with the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

I started with a piece of Basic Black cardstock that would be the card base.

A So Saffron “card base” was next – it’s 4″ x 7 1/2″, scored and folded at 2 1/2″ on the long side.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card base – then adhered a piece of Pale Papaya paper from the FREE Daffodil Afternoon DSP!

The next layer is a Garden Green “card base” – it’s 3 3/4″ x 9 3/4″, scored and folded at 5″.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the So Saffron card base.

I adhered a piece of black Daffodil Afternoon DSP to the front of the Garden Green card and another piece of the Pale Papaya DSP to the shorter So Saffron panel….

…and then got busy die cutting flowers and stems using the bundled Daffodil Dies.

I cut every flower die in the Daffodil Die set from pink and from yellow Simple Marbleous DSP and from So Saffron and Very Vanilla cardstock.  Then I started adhering the pieces together with Liquid Glue.  The pink DSP goes with the Very Vanilla cardstock pieces and the yellow DSP goes with the So Saffron cardstock pieces.  You can see the different combinations that I created by doing it this way!  Yes.  I made a LOT of flowers (and you can, too, cuz it’s easy – peasy – and FUN!).

I cut two Old Olive stems – the ones with the little doohickeys at the end (those fit PERFECTLY on the “bud” flowers) and two Old Olive leaves, plus two Garden Green leaves.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the Old Olive stems to the ends of the buds and then I started adhering the leaves and the two buds to the card front with Liquid Glue.  Tip:  do NOT let your decorations extend past the top of the Garden Green card base.  If they do – they’ll bend and crease when you open the card!  The stems/leaves will be too long – snip them off at an angle (just like cutting stems for a bouquet!) to fit!

I adhered the top flower with Liquid Glue and the next two with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a piece of Very Vanilla, I stamped the sweet little butterfly from the Daffodil Daydream set in Smoky Slate and cut it with the matching die from the Daffodil Die set.  I colored it with my Dark Pale Papaya and Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

I tied a little bow from some Pale Papaya 3/8″ Open Weave Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

I stamped the Daffodil Daydream sentiment in Flirty Flamingo on a piece of Very Vanilla and cut it with the next-to-smallest die in the Stitched So Sweetly die set.  I popped the sentiment on with Stampin’ Dimensionals – added a Brushed Brass Butterfly and the card front was done!

For the inside, I stamped the scattered dots image from the Daffodil Daydream set twice in stamped-off-once Pale Papaya on a Very Vanilla panel.  Over each scattering of dots, I added the butterfly in Smoky Slate and colored him with the Dark Pale Papaya and Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends.  I adhered the panel to the inside of the card and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the scattering of dots and butterfly on the front…

…and more Daffodil Afternoon DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Not gonna lie – making daffodils can get a little addictive – they’re one of my favorite flowers!  And with the Daffodil Dies and all our gorgeous colors and papers like the Simply Marbleous DSP….what amazing possibilities there are!  These cards would be great for Mother’s Day or Easter – and Daffodil Daydream gives you both sentiments! I think I don’t have to say ANYthing about the Daffodil Afternoon DSP, do I?  🙂  Oh – well.  I WILL remind you that you can get it AND the Simply Marbleous DSP for $50 purchases while Sale-A-Bration is going on!!

I hope you like!

If you’d like to recreate this card, all the products and card cuts are listed below!
