Stampin’ Up! Shaded Summer Shadows Beautifully Penned with Video Tutorial

Good morning, everyone.  It’s Friday – but…it’s hard to be happy today.  My heart is breaking for the families of the Marines and Sailor who were killed yesterday in Kabul.  My prayers for Peace are going to them and for strength and courage to the men and women who remain in harm’s way.

Okay.  Shaking it off for a minute.

If you were able to join me yesterday for my YouTube live, I appreciate you spending part of your day with me!  If not, but you’d like to see how to make this card (it’s got some fun techniques in it!) – here’s the link to it on my YouTube channel!

I wanted to showcase the cool Summer Shadows die set – this is one of the products you can get for FREE during Sale-a-bration and it cuts out the gorgeous flowers from the Shaded Summer stamp set!  And – cuz I’m cool like that – I am ALSO featuring the Beautifully Penned DSP  (uhm….another FREE goody!).  Take a look-see:

The layout for this card comes from the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge.

And it perfectly fits with the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

I started with some of the Beautifully Penned DSP (this is free with a $50+ purchase during SAB) that I matted on Basic Black for the card front.

For the sentiment panel – I placed the piece of Basic White into my Stamparatus and used the Hinge-step stamping technique to stamp the Shaded Summer sentiment three times in Evening Evergreen.  Then I shifted the panel down a little (1/2″) and repeated the hinge stepping with Soft Succulent ink.

I matted the panel on Basic Black and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used the large leaf die in the Summer Shadows Dies (this one is free with a $100+ purchase during SAB) to cut 2021-2023 Shimmer Vellum leaves – two in Soft Succulent and one Evening Evergreen.

I adhered the leaves to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I placed another piece of Basic White cardstock into the Stamparatus and used it to stamp the flower image from Shaded Summer.  I used the Marker-to-Stamp technique to color the stamp  – using my Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, Polished Pink, Mango Melody and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Markers.  Then I cut the image out with the die in the Summer Shadows die set.

I popped the flowers over the die cut leaves with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the bow, I made a small loop with a piece of Polished Pink 3/8″ Open Weave Ribbon, then wrapped a length of black twine from the Baker’s Twine Essential Pack around it and tied a bow.  Then I adhered it with a Glue Dot.

I added a few Polished Pink 2021-2023 In Color Jewels and the card front was done.

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from the Shaded Summer stamp set in Evening Evergreen on a Basic White panel.  I inked the berries stamp from the set in Soft Succulent – stamped it off once on scrap paper – then stamped it twice over the sentiment – without re-inking between stamps.  Then I added a Polished Pink gem.

I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the panel to a Basic Black mat and into my Evening Evergreen card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Shaded Summer berries on the front – in Soft Succulent stamped three times without re-inking…

…and more Beautifully Penned DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love this serene color combination with the pops of Polished Pink and Mango Melody, don’t you?  The Beautifully Penned DSP has the same patterns as the Hand Penned DSP  – but…all in black and white and gray!

I’m also a big fan of the Shaded Summer set from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog and having the Summer Shadows die set to cut the images with is just icing on the cake.  And…that you can get those dies for FREE….is like..a THREE LAYER CAKE!! 😉

I hope you like!
