Stampin’ Up! Reflected in Nature Sneak Peek with Video Tutorial

Happy Sunday, y’all!  Hope you’ve been having a good weekend – we’re swinging between downpouring rain and sauna.  It’s awesome! 😉  Thank goodness for Air Conditioning!!

If you were able to join me for my air-conditioned Facebook live video last night, I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay, here ’tis on YouTube!

This is a new stamp set – one you might miss on your way thru your new Jul – Dec 2021 Mini Catalog the first  – or third! – time, but…I’d urge you to take a gander at it.  It’s a Dist-INK-tive set called the Reflected in Nature set and it’s on page 60!  I did a little Bark 3D Embossing and a little edge tearing and…take a look-see:

The layout is from the As You See It sketch challenge!

I started off with a piece of Mossy Meadow paper from the Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP that I matted on Night of Navy for the card front.

Next, I embossed a strip of Misty Moonlight in the Bark 3D Embossing Folder, matted it on Night of Navy and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I trimmed down a Paper Lattice with my Paper Snips and used little dabs of Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card front.

In the video, I showed some samples of ways to ink/stamp the main focal image in the Reflected in Nature set – all of them use the Stamparatus (cuz….it REALLY helps!).  For this card, I used Night of Navy – tapping the top of the stamp with the ink pad and then stamping it with the Stamparatus.  Then I did the same on the bottom – using my Balmy Blue ink pad.

I tore the edges of the panel – following the edge of the stamped image – and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a double-length bow from Crumb Cake twine in the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack and adhered it to the card front with a Glue Dot.

Next, I stamped a sentiment from Reflected in Nature in Mossy Meadow on a strip of Basic White and matted it on Night of Navy.  Then I used double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment to the card front – overlapping the bow.

I added a few Night of Navy gems from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels pack and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Reflected in Nature in Mossy Meadow on a Basic White panel.  Next to it, I added the eagle from the set in Night of Navy.  Across the bottom, I adhered a snipped piece of Paper Lattice with Liquid Glue.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Misty Moonlight card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

In the video, due to a…shortage…of Mossy Meadow plaid DSP – I created that card using Evening Evengreen – for the card front and for the stamped sentiments. I also used Pool Party on the bottom of the image.

For both versions, my Basic White Medium Envelope got the Reflected in Nature eagle image in Night of Navy on the front…

…and more of the DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! So…which do you like better?  Mossy Meadow or Evening Evergreen?

The jury is out for me –  I like ’em both!  I love this Reflected in Nature stamp set so much – the detail in the forest is simply incredible.  It looks like a photograph!  I can’t wait to play with more color combinations!

I hope you like!

  1. Sorry I couldn’t continue watching live last night. It’s a beauty of a card and that fountain…I can see why Finn is enamored with it!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks – glad you were able to watch a little! And he does like a good drink, for sure! 🙂

  2. Love both cards! Such a beautiful image and the colors are perfect! Yep, looks like a giant drinking fountain for sure!! 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Right?? Just like I got it at PetSmart for him! Thanks very much, Amy! 🙂

  3. Susan K

I gave this stamp set a second look because I live in a cabin in the woods and love those sentiments, so loved seeing what you did with it—absolutely gorgeous card. The torn paper is perfect for the rustic feel. I can’t choose between the two colors and love love love them both. TFS.
It’s generous of Finn to offer his personal water fountain for you to use too. On hot days this summer, you might be temped to dip your feet in it!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Susan – it’s a PERFECT set for you!! And when you have it you’ll be able to make it in ALL the colors!! And yes – I might have to dip a toe!! 🙂

  4. Pat C.

Love this card, may have to get the stamp set…on my next order!
Love Finn’s new “watering hole” too. So pretty, and I think I can actually hear the waterfall. 😜

    • stampsnlingers

I really like it – the image is amazing and the sentiments are perfect! Thank
you so much, Pat!! And yes – the sound of the water is amazing! 🙂

  5. Jan Clothier

What a lovely masculine colour combination! I really like the way you’ve used the narrow strip of Paper Trellis – it adds to the rustic, homely feeling of the design. Thanks so much for joining in with us again at As You See It Challenge.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, Jan – I love this new stamp set! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

You’ve used one of my favourite stamps here, Mary, and I love the torn paper frame around the edge looking like the old photos used to! The trellis paper is a great idea for the horizontal element in the sketch! Thanks for playing along with us at As You See It Challenges.

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you so much! I appreciate you stopping by with such kind words!

  7. This stamp set is truly unique…I was trying to resist it but I am afraid I might have to break down and get it! Such a serene scene and your embellishments are nicely done! So glad you shared this with us at As You See It this week!

    • stampsnlingers

It is a lot of fun, for sure! I think you NEED it! Thanks, LeAnne – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  8. Kathy Filipia

I love this card. Had to order it right away. I love your video’s I love your sense of humor. I am married to a retired Navy man and I thank you for your service also.

    • stampsnlingers

Well – thank YOU guys, too! And thank you for the kind words, Kathy! 🙂

  9. Dawn Miller

What size is the white paper that you stamp the image on and do the tearing. I didn’t see that on the list. Also what size is the blue card stock that the sentiment goes on?

    • stampsnlingers

Hey Dawn – I don’t have the card anymore to measure – but the mat for the sentiment is about 5/8″ x 2 3/4″. For the torn panel, it doesn’t matter what size you use – just select a piece that is big enough to stamp the image. Then tear the edges right at the edge of the stamped image. Does that make sense? Thank you! 🙂
