Stampin’ Up! Pansy Patch Sneak Peek Fun Fold With Video Tutorial!

Happy Sunday, y’all!  Hope the weekend is going well for you!  Our plans for fence and paint got overcome by rain yesterday so…not sure when that will all get done!  Hoping to get seedlings in the ground today if the weather cooperates!

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me!  If not – but you’d like to see the replay, here ’tis on YouTube!

I first saw this card on my friend Karen Ksenzakovic’s blog and then several of my teammates did one – so….seemed like a good time to give this tower fun fold a go!  And it seemed like the perfect time to roll out some new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog goodies – these are from the new and gorgeous Pansy Petals Suite! And YOU can get them on 4 May (or…right NOW!  Ask me how!) Take a look-see:

I started with an Evening Evergreen card base – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/4″ and used my Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score it at 1″, 2″, 3″, 5 1/4″, 6 1/4″ and 7 1/4″ along the long side.  Then I turned it and made partial cuts – as shown below and on the video.

The most technical part of this fold is the…folds!  Some score lines aren’t folded.  Some are folded as valleys.  Some as mountains.  This picture tells the tale!

Once you get all the folds folded as they should be – it’s simply time to decorate!

I matted some gingham paper and some pansy-strewn paper from the new-and-gorgeous Pansy Petals DSP on Soft Succulent and adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Next, I used the largest square Stitched Shapes Die to cut a square in Basic White and one in Soft Succulent.  I adhered the latter to the card front with Liquid Glue – tipped up into a diamond.

On the white square, I stamped the Pansy Patch sentiment in Evening Evergreen.  Then I adhered it over the mat with Liquid Glue.

I used the dies in the Pansy Die set to cut a couple of flowers and a few leaves from the Pansy Petals DSP.  I love when SU! gives us dies that will cut images right out of the DSP – it’s one of my favorite things!  Instant flowers!

I adhered a Gold Hoop Embellishment to the white square with a couple of Glue Dots.  Then I tied a big loopy simple bow from two lengths of new Simply Elegant Trim (coming on 4 May!) and adhered it with another Glue Dot.

Using Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals – I added the die cut Pansy Petals DSP flowers and leaves to the card front.

To finish it off, I adhered a new Bee Trinket (4 May, y’all!) with a Glue Dot and the card front was done!

On the back – I adhered two more gingham Pansy Petals DSP strips, matted on Soft Succulent, to the side panels.  On a piece of Basic White, I stamped a second Pansy Patch sentiment in Evening Evergreen.  Across the bottom, I stamped small Pansy Patch flowers in Fresh Freesis, stamped-off-once Fresh Freesia, Blackberry Bliss and Bumble Bee.  This photopolymer stamp set features flower and leaf elements that will let you “grow” all the beautiful pansies in all the colors!!

I added another Bee Trinket with a Glue Dot, then used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Soft Succulent mat and onto the back of the card base, and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more Pansy Patch flowers on the front…

…and some Pansy Petals DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Hard to say what I’m more tickled with, y’all!  This super fun tower fun fold….or the amazeballs new Pansy Patch stamp set and bundled Pansy Dies, with the gorgeous Pansy Petals DSP!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

We’ve got a house guest.  In the barn. 😉

This is a grazing muzzle.

It’s designed to keep pigger-ponies from eating their body weight in grass every day and exploding!

But – over the winter, it has accumulated hay from the hay net in the stall on the other side of the wall.  And…other things.

When that hay and “other things” started getting a hole in the middle…

See it?

I got suspicious and carefully peered inside.

And sure enough…

She’s hard to see – way down in there.  And – at one point I got a little too familiar with the camera and she fluffed her wings at me.  So I pretty much leave her alone.

I’m certain she’s sitting on eggs – cuz…otherwise I am certain she’d fly out when I make too much noise rattling the stall door, cleaning stalls – filling the hay net right next to her.

I CAN see her white stripe by her eye – so I am pretty sure she’s one of our Carolina wrens…

..although I think ours are grayer….

Either way – I hope she stays and has her little babies right there.

So does Cerah…cuz as long as that danged grazing muzzle is a maternity ward…it can’t be on her schnoozle keeping her from eating her fill every day! 🙂

  1. I watched your replay and I HAVE to make this! I just got my pansy suite yesterday so maybe I’ll give it a go before the meeting and cooking class. It is so exciting to have a maternity ward and there is no doubt that Cerah is happy about it! See you later.

    • stampsnlingers

Yeah – so glad that your suite came, Karen! You’re going to love playing with it! The Bird Maternity Ward. Yep – that’s what we’ve got!
      Thanks so much! 🙂

  2. Such a beautiful card! Love that paper, the colors are amazing! So sweet that you’ve got a little nest in your barn. Hope that you can see the babies soon. 🙂 She picked a good spot…made the pony happy, high enough that the dog won’t see her and nice and warm for the kids. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – she must have been eyeballing it for a while – and adding bits and pieces of nesting goodies when I wasn’t looking! Thanks very much, Amy! 🙂

  3. Charlotte Hutcheson

Mary…that is so cool! We have a small wren house hanging from the roof overhand on the back of our house, and at the present time, we have a wren family inside…the parents are on the move constantly finding food for their hungry little babies.

    • stampsnlingers

Oh – that’s fun for you to watch, I’m sure!! I love them – they serenade me all the time when I’m in the barn, particularly in the mornings! Thanks, Charlotte! 🙂

  4. This is beautiful! What are your ‘mat’ measurements for the top and bottom (across)?
    Thanks in advance….!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you! And I just realized I’d left that measurement off – fixed it now, thanks. Those mats are 7/8″ x 4 1/8″. 🙂

  5. Susan K

Wow, what a gorgeous card, even if it weren’t a fantastic fun fold! I love your pretty pansy and that paper! Perfect use of the cute bee trinkets. TFS
Sweet little Jenny wren. She found a ready-made nest and didn’t have to carry all the hay in! I love when they build close enough to see. One will usually take over my hanging ceramic pot on the deck wall.

    • stampsnlingers

A Jenny wren? Is that what they’re called? I am tickled to death that she’s there – and hope she stays and raises her little family right there! Thank you so much for the very kind words, Susan! 🙂

  6. Pat C.

Wow! Such a BEAUTIFUL CARD! I’m thinking that I just might need the entire pansy suite.
I love the 2 new greens and papaya colors too, definitely a must-have for me. (I may go broke with this new catty. 😜)
Please keep us posted re your bird nest!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – it’s a STUNNINGLY pretty suite, Pat and you are correct – you DO want it all! I love the new colors – especially those new greens!! Thanks so much! 🙂

  7. Susan Mezias

Loved this fun fold. Tried it but couldn’t figure out how to leave you my sample!

    • stampsnlingers

Hmm – not sure that you can add a photo to a comment! Send it to me in an e-mail, Susan – would love to see it! Thanks very much! 🙂

  8. Lexi

Such a fun card! (The pansies are upside down, however.)

    • stampsnlingers

      Yep – I’ve heard that a few times now! Thanks, Lexi – it’s a great set. 🙂

  9. Sue McNeill

I saw your post on Pinterest and I am so GLAD i did! Your video is DELIGHTFUL! I will certainly be a frequent visitor!

    • stampsnlingers

Yeah for Pinterest! Welcome, Sue – I hope you find lots of inspiration – and thank you so much for the kind words! 🙂

  10. Cindy Ira-Smith

Mary, I looked up what a pansy looks like and those two petals go on the top of the flower. Other demonstrators have had the same question. Hopefully this helps.
