Stampin’ Up! Birds of a Feather Sneak Peek for the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop!

Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of Amy’s Inkin’ Krew team blog hop!  Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month our theme is Fall Frenzy!  We can interpret that any way we want – so…be sure to check and see everyone’s projects – we’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this month!

First off – it’s hard to think about Fall when it’s 100 outside.  Just sayin’… 😉

I decided another sneak peek from the 2019 Holiday Catalog was the way to go here – and I figured….why not go with Thanksgiving?  So…I pulled out the new Birds of a Feather stamp set (which covers Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day!) and paired the little turkey with some Come To Gather DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s TGIF Sketch Challenge.

And the colors are from… Sunday Stamps! 🙂

I started with some feather-y Pretty Peacock paper from the Come To Gather DSP (coming in the new 2019 Holiday Catalog on 4 Sept) and matted it on Crushed Curry for the card front.

On a smaller rectangle of Very Vanilla, I stamped the little turkey from Birds of a Feather (avail 4 Sept) in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I colored – her (she’s my turkey and she can be a she if I want to her to be, so… 😉 ) – with my Light and Dark Crumb Cake, Pretty Peacock and Rococo Rose Stampin’ Blends.  Plus my Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso and Pretty Posy Stampin’ Write Markers.

I stamped the gobbler again on a second Pretty Peacock design from the Come To Gather DSP and fussy cut just the apron.  Did the same on a Pretty Posy checkered piece of 2019-2021 In Color 6″ x 6″ DSP and cut out the apron pocket.  I adhered both with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the Birds of a Feather sentiment in Pretty Peacock in the bottom corner.  Then I matted it on Crushed Curry and adhered it to the card front.

I pulled out a Tags & Feathers Elements and colored the middle stripe of one with my Pretty Peacock Blend.  Then I adhered it to the panel with Liquid Glue.

A tiny Linen Thread bow and some Pretty Posy 2019-2021 Faceted Dots finished off the card front!

On the inside, I added the Birds of a Feather gobbler in the bottom corner of a Very Vanilla panel and colored her as I’d done on the front.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Cajun Craze card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another gobbler on the front…

…and some more feathery Come To Gather DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love this little image from Birds of a Feather – and it’s so cool that the single set covers so many occasions, don’t you think?  And the Come To Gather DSP is going to be a mainstay for all your Fall projects!  I hope you like!

  2. That is way too cute Mary! Love those chickens, such a sweet design! 🙂

  3. That turkey sure is giving thanks. He’s the one I’ll spare in November as we no longer do turkey dinners then! Very whimsical and great use of the sketch.

I pretty much don’t do turkey dinners at all! We’re Prime Rib folks!! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  5. Love this! But why is SHE wearing a silly hat to bake a pie? I never wear a hat when I am baking! I had overlooked this set, but will have to take a second look. Great card.

Well – she’s obviously WAY more sophistercated than us! 😉 Thanks, Julie – a second look is in order, I think! 🙂
