Stampin’ Up! Here’s a Card With Apples (a sneak peek!)

Good Monday, y’all!  Hope you had a most wonderful weekend and are ready to Soldier thru the work-week! 🙂  Did you do anything fun to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Moon-landing?  Like….write something while hanging upside down?  Have a big ole glass of Tang?  Eat some freeze-dried ice cream? 🙂

Yeah – I didn’t do any of those things either.  I just thought back to where I was 50 years ago – and thought “Man.  That was COOL!”  Cuz…it totally was!

And – brave beyond measure.  Even though it is NOT – it SEEMS commonplace to us now, but…can you even imagine?  We had no CLUE what they’d find up there.  Or whether they’d come home (like…. to the point that a speech was waiting for the President just in case they didn’t).  But…they walked out there, strapped on a Saturn V and said….GO!

Wow.  Just….wow.  Body parts made of titanium wrapped in diamond!

On a much MUCH more mundane level, let’s look at a card, shall we?  This one uses a fun sentiment set from the Annual catalog called Here’s A Card.  And – I used the new Apple Punch and Come To Gather DSP (from the 2019 Holiday Catalog), too.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I started with a piece of Whisper White and embossed it in the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder, then matted it on Pear Pizzazz for the card front.

Next up, I cut two Rectangle Stitched Dies from the wood-design of the new Come To Gather DSP (coming on 4 Sept!) and adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Using the new Apple Punch, I cut three apples from checked paper in the Come To Gather DSP.  I also used the punch to make three Early Espresso stems and three Pear Pizzazz leaves.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the stems and leaves to each apple.

I pulled out the Support Ribbon dies and cut a few little hearts from Cajun Craze.  I adhered them to the two apples with Liquid Glue.  Then I stuck all the apples onto the card front with more Liquid Glue.

I stamped the sentiment from Here’s A Card in Cajun Craze on a piece of Whisper White and cut it with the small Rectangle Stitched Die.  Then I popped it onto the middle apple with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To finish is off, I tied three small bows from Cajun Craze Linen Thread (yup – you read that right!) from the Come To Gather Ribbon Combo Pack (coming 4 Sept) and adhered them with little dabs of Liquid Glue.

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Here’s A Card in Cajun Craze to a Whisper White panel.  In the corner I added another apple – letting the edges hang over and then trimming the excess with my Paper Snips.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pear Pizzazz mat and into my Cajun Craze card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another apple on the front…

…and more of the checkered Come To Gather DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Oh my goodness – I love the new Apple Punch (it ALSO makes pumpkins!!) – and the Come To Gather DSP.  You’ll be able to grab both of those – plus the Come To Gather Ribbon Combo – on 4 Sept.  Unless…you join us now or on 1 Aug.  THEN you could get them even faster!  I hope you like!

Check out the Extra Extra Joining Special and…let’s chat! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

Finn and Cerah having a little discussion.

He’s apparently said something that she didn’t care for and she’s stuck her tongue out at him.

We will never know….

  1. Apple pie, pumpkin pie and your card…YUM! Great take on the sketch. I think Cerah is responding to Finn asking, “how do you like me now?” Have a great day!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – that could easily be it! 🙂 Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  2. That is too cute! Love the plaid apples, perfect fall thank you card! Yep, bet that it was an interesting discussion…probably sounded something like “mom, he’s touching my fan!”. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – it’s classic sibling moaning and griping! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  3. labarrett

This is so sweet! Love that checked paper- perfect for your apples, with such a fall/country feel. I am also enjoying the dog and the horse, deep in conversation, lol! Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – they are deep thinkers, there’s no doubt! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  4. LOVE your ideas for last weekend – I had forgotten about Tang!! I have tried to explain to my children how amazing the whole thing was but it just seems so commonplace to them! And also how many everyday innovations came out of that program!!

I love your gingham apples! Such fun colors on top of the woodgrain. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.

    • stampsnlingers

Right? We forget too quickly the things we have – and NOT just Tang and upside-down-pens, either!! – that have come from our space travel adventures!! Glad you liked the trip down memory lane. Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂

  5. Beautifully done! I’m totally in love with those gingham apples. Thanks so much for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, Cecile! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  6. Thanks for the memories. It was certainly a giant leap, but, unfortunately, it has become ho-hum to many. I still marvel that mankind has achieved so much in a short time (in the big scheme of things). Now, if we could just learn to be NICE to each other.

    • stampsnlingers

Now THAT would be a GIANT leap! Would be nice. Thanks, Julie! 🙂

  7. OOPS! I think Cerah is telling Finn he is blocking the air, and he simply doesn’t care! Funny! Oh, yes, the card. I love apples and I love gingham, and I love wood grain, so I guess that means I love your card! Great take on the sketch. Winner for sure.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks much, Julie – and yes. He WAS hogging the fan!! 🙂
