Stampin’ Up! The Road Trip is Underway…Piece of Cake!

Well.  Here we are – Saturday.  THE Saturday.  If I’ve done what I set out to do, then by the time you read this, I should be on the other side of Atlanta on my way to Maryland!  We got everything packed up last night and then…it was time at the hiney-crack-of-way-too-early this morning!

I always get a rental car for these kinds of business trips…

…this is a Chevy Equinox – and it looked like it would hold all my stuff!  AND – it got the Finn-Seal-of-Approval!

Good thing it’s big cuz…

Small Ikea Table with legs – check.

Food – check.

Elevendy-hundred Thirty-One totes of various shapes and sizes with lots of stamping and mailing supplies – check.

Several Stamp-N-Storage pieces (Ink Pad Combo Holder and Hanging File Paper Holders, plus Blends Holder and new 6″ x 6″ Paper Holder) – check check and….CHECK!

Suitcase with clothes…

Uhm…

Hmmm.

Well – fear not – we did get the suitcase in plus the final large tote with my Mealthy Pressure Cooker (yes – I even took that!) and I was cooking with gas.  Er…pressure!  And I even remembered that I needed some clothes for CenterStage and OnStage! Not gonna lie – that one almost slipped thru the cracks!

So – as we continued to pack – Finn let me know his thoughts on the subject.

Yea.  That was hard to see.  I hate to leave him….😥

But – leaving is the first step to being home, so….off I went!

Now – lest you think this is not the card-blog you seek, let me share a couple of pictures of the cards we made last weekend at our Amy’s Inkin’ Krew meeting!

Gosh, I love these ladies so much! 🙂

Both of the cards that Amy designed for us to make use the Piece of Cake stamp set and Cake Builder Punch (which – fingers crossed! – should be back in stock and available to order on 18 March!), but they look totally different from one another!  Check them out!

The first is a classic white-and-silver number using the Lace Dynamic TIEF and silver embossing!

And the second got all festive and jazzed up with some How Sweet it Is DSP – and the Dot To Dot TIEF.

Here’s a tip I learned from my so-smart friend Amy!  I really like doing embossed card base fronts – but…embossing the card base itself often gets it all cattywampus.  So…here’s the tip:  emboss a like-colored panel of the card stock and then cut it to the same size as the card front and adhere it with Liquid Glue.

Light bulb!

Thanks, my friend!!

Okay – that’s a wrap – I hope you enjoyed (or at least weren’t bored out of your head!) the little peek into What-Mary-Takes-On-Extended-Business Trips or How-To-Keep-A-Stampin’-Up!-Business-Running-on-the-Road!  Not to worry – my post will be “real” tomorrow!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn seriously isn’t a Finn Fan of me leaving.

When the suitcases come out – the smile turns into a frown.

He has no qualms about tugging – HARD – on my heart! 🙁

  1. Beth's Fancy Stamping

Godspeed and safe travels. See you at Onstage!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Beth – and can’t wait! Just a few more weeks! 🙂

  2. A day without a post from you would be a day without sunshine, card or no card. Yes, I can see that that look would pull on your heart strings. Hope you had an uneventful trip. If I were younger and richer, I’d volunteer to be your personal assistant and go with you to help lug all that great stuff into your hotel. Once you were done with all your wonderful creativity, I’d put everything back together so the cleaning staff wouldn’t talk about any messy business…lol. Can’t wait to see what you create in your new, temporary digs.

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! I’d take it, Karen! Yes – my heart strings were tugged nearly to breaking! It would have been very easy to just change my mind and unpack the whole thing! Thanks! 🙂

  3. Poor Finn…it is rough on a guy to loose his mom for awhile. But I’m sure that the boys will have lots of fun at home too. 🙂 Safe travels! See you on the other side!

  4. Gale S.

I appreciate your dedication to us! All I could think about was that you have to unload it (again!) on the other end!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – I’m less worried about Unloading it than I am about RE-loading it at the end (without Wayne-my-master-packer!!). Thanks much, Gale! 🙂

  5. Aw, poor Finn….but you will see him soon! OMG! Did you get the kitchen sink in there? Wowsers! But you are one prepared lady! The post wasn’t boring…just real and that is why I like visiting you! Thanks for sharing!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you! Glad that you enjoyed reading it! I didn’t SEE the kitchen sink go in, but…we’ll see what I find when I unpack! 🙂

  6. Kate

    Heart tugger for sure.

  7. Gerri K

    Safe travels Mary!

  8. Kathy Fennell

Wow you are packed solid there Mary! 🙂 Have a safe trip and I hope that there is someone at the Hotel that’s going to lend you a hand with all the precious cargo. See you soon 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Kathy! Thankfully – elevators and luggage carts are available! 🙂

  9. Paula Poindexter

Have a good trip Mary. Hope you climbed in the car and didn’t look back. Safe travels and good business trip ahead.
Sweet sad Finn will be just fine!

    • stampsnlingers

I know – he (and I!) always are! I’m good at being gone – leaving is the hard part! Thanks, Paula! 🙂
