Stampin’ Up! Bokeh Dots Come Home to Roost

Good morning!  How’s the weekend going so far?  We here at the Deatherage home are in the throes of “tax prep”.  At the same exact time I decided to move my craft area into our front bedroom.

Can you – in your wildest dreams – imagine the sheer chaos inside our home?

I’m organizing and throwing things away (throwing Wayne into an oh-no-I-was-saving-that-I’m-going-to-use-it apoplectic seizure) and trying my darnedest to make some semblance of order around me.  And then – I am vowing to keep it that way.  Well – at least within the 12’x12″ space of my craft room….

The rest of the house is on its own! 😉

My card for today (thank goodness I’d gotten it done and photographed BEFORE the final push to move from one spot to the next!!) is a simple and easy one – thanks to the Stamparatus!  It uses the fun Bokeh Dots set from the Annual Catalog and the Home To Roost set from the Sale-A-Bration catty.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by Shawn De Oliveira’s card for the Global Design Project‘s CASE the Designer challenge.

And the color scheme is from the Color Throwdown challenge.

I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock and, using my Stamparatus, stamped the Bokeh Dots image.  First, I inked the full image with Balmy Blue and stamped it.  Then, I used a Sponge Dauber to add Highland Heather around the edges of the stamp, and stamped it again.  Ahhh – the beauty of the Stampapotamus!!  Love it!

I left the panel where it was and used the Stamparatus to add the grasses image from the Home to Roost set (get this one for FREE with a qualifying $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration!) in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Next, I used my Journaling Pen to add some doodle-y stitches around the stamped image.  Then I matted the panel on Highland Heather.

I wrapped some new Whisper White 5/8″ Flax Ribbon and Balmy Blue Organdy Ribbon (this one is ALSO free with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration!) around the panel – securing them in the back with Glue Dots.

My sentiment, from Home to Roost, is stamped in Highland Heather on Whisper White and cut out with the Classic Label Punch.

then popped on with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added a Butterfly Element with Liquid Glue (guess what?  THIS is a FREE goody during Sale-A-Bration, too!) and then popped the sentiment over it all with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.

I used a Glue Dot to adhere a small Balmy Blue Organdy Ribbon bow and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added the Home To Roost grass in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink in the corner of a Whisper White panel.  Then I did some more doodling stitches with my Journaling Pen.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Highland Heather mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Home to Roost grass image and some doodles on the front…

…and some Balmy Blue paper from the Subtles DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  It’s so easy to forget about all the cool stamp sets in the Annual Catalog when we’re busy playing with our new toys in the Sale-A-Bration and Occasions catalogs.  But…don’t!  Bokeh Dots is so neat and makes it easy peasy to add a fun design element to your cards.  And the free Home To Roost set is…excellent…with it’s images and sentiments.  Oh – and its FREE-ness!  Hope You Like!

Finn Fan Fix

I’m not going to waste your time with pointless chatter.

I’m simply going to show you the cutest picture ever.

And that’s saying a lot – considering the sheer volume of extremely cute Finn-pictures that I’ve shown you in the past couple of years.

Ready!?

Okay – here ’tis!

No – that is NOT posed.  He just did it.

Cuz…he’s the cutest dog ever!

  1. I’m in love with your card..the colors, the design, the doodling…everything! It’s a winner in my book. Such cuteness emanating from the Finnster. Nice to have a square room for crafting. Will you be making square cards?

LOL – be sure to check Monday’s card… 😉 Thanks so much, Karen! 🙂

  2. Oh, love that card! You design is just perfect and so are the embellishments! Sweet picture of Finn. 🙂

Cutest dog ever…well one of them, for sure!!!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Mom! And – everyone’s own pupper is the “cutest dog ever”. And that’s exactly how it should be! 🙂

  4. Beautiful card! Love the colors!

  5. Faith Simpson

Your blog is one of my favorites…..you have great ideas, beauties that I like to try to copy……and I LOVE that you love your doggie……I love mine too. I always scroll to the bottom to see what is happening with Finn.

    • stampsnlingers

That’s very kind, Faith – thank you so much! He’s a pretty easy little dude to love – and I am VERY happy that you love yours, too! 🙂

  6. Karen L.

That is a great card…….simple elements but great impact with the design!! Great that you are going to get a space all to yourself for your stamping/creative area & your business!! What took you so long to take over that space if it was there all that time??!! Nosey!!!!!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – had to give up the idea of a second guest room. And – I’m better “out in the middle of things” than sequestered in a room. I like the tv running and being able to converse with Wayne. But… it was time. AND – he’ll be happy to not be shuffled off to the bedroom on Sunday nights for my video! Thanks very much, Karen! 🙂

  7. Gorgeous card, and cute dog too.

  8. Karen in Florida
