Stampin’ Up! Pick a Pennant on Tranquil Textures

It’s the weekend again!  Whoo-hoo!

Well – it’s all Whoo-hoo as long as I don’t contemplate that this time next week…I’ll be on a plane to California.  Bleh.

But – it’s the next thing that has to be done so I’m a-gonna do it!  And then I’m a-gonna go on a cruise!  WHOO-HOO!! 🙂

For now, though – I’m a-bringing y’all a quick, easy and fun little birthday card that I made with the new Pick A Pennant stamp set and some pretty Tranquil Textures DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge:

And the color palette is from the Color Throwdown

I started with a plain piece of Whisper White card stock and some 3/4″ wide strips of Tranquil Textures DSP in coordinating colors.  Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the strips of DSP to the panel, letting the ends of the strips spill off the edges.

Once all the strips were adhered, I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut off the excess DSP.

The Pick A Pennant stamp set – which is photopolymer – makes lining up and stamping sentiments so easy!  I masked off my DSP with a few sticky notes and stamped the pennant image twice in Crushed Curry.

Then I used the letter images in the set to stamp each flag in Night of Navy.

The little bird – which is also in Pick A Pennant – is stamped in Fresh Fig and then colored lightly with my Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker.  I adhered the panel to a Crushed Curry mat with Liquid Glue and the card front was done.

On the inside, I repeated the Crushed Curry pennant on a Whisper White panel.  Then I added the sentiment with more letter images in Night of Navy.  A second bird in Fresh Fig and Crushed Curry finished it off.

I adhered the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Fresh Fig card base with Liquid Glue, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added some more pennants and a bird from Pick A Pennant…

…and I gave the envelope flap a little more Tranquil Textures DSP.

Et Voila!  I sort of love this little stamp set!  You can – literally! – Pick A Pennant and decorate it all sorts of fun ways!  And you get an alphabet stamp set as a little bonus!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

I know you guys are all Finn Fans.  Fans of Finn, even.

Finn is happy to have fans.

But – Finn is NOT a Fan of Flying Foe.  And by Flying Foe – I mean…bugs.

It causes him to twist and leap and snap at….nothing.

Case in point.

Missed it…

Ras-a-frass-a…..grrrr….

You’re just going to have to take me at my word that there’s really a bug bugging him.

He’s not crazy.

Really. 😉

  1. Kate

    I’m with Finn.

  2. I saw these two challenges earlier and thought to myself, “No can do!” However, you have done them just fine! Finn pics and story line are precious. Sorry about the CA deal. Hope it’s not for too long.

    • stampsnlingers

Well – it’s sorta long. I’ll be there thru 17 Aug – except for the two weeks we’re in Seattle and on the cruise! So…yea. Kind of a stretch! But – it’ll be okay once I get out there and get going! Thanks for the kind words, Karen! 🙂

  3. What a cute card! Love the fun banners! Finn…crazy? Of course not! Well, maybe he does look a little nutting the photo. I’m sure that they’re not imaginary bugs…they’re just bugs that none of us can see. Ha! 😉

    • stampsnlingers

HE’S sure they’re there – and that’s all that matters to him! 😉 Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  4. Kathy Fennell

Hey Mary! Cute card, this a set that I was on the fence about and now I will have to give second thought too. Haha we had a little Shih Tzu who like Finn didn’t take kindly to flying bugs! He would do the same as Finn and one day he caught a “bee” needless to say he got stung! Well thank goodness no negative side effect from the sting but he was much more cautious about what he was trying to catch! Have a good weekend Mary 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! Yes – Finny is catching some of the borer bees. He’s not really sure what to do with them when he gets them – but I hope he doesn’t get stung! This stamp set is sort of a sleeper – but one I think would be a good add to your tool chest! Thanks, Kathy! 🙂

  5. What a cute card! I love those banners (both inside and out) and the sweet little birds! I agree with Finn, bugs suck! I’d be jumping too! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Jen! And I appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  6. Beverly Jordan

Love your creative card and that you combined two different challenges!! Really liked your banners especially with the lovely birdie on one of them!! So fun!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks – isn’t that just the cutest little bird?!? 🙂

  7. Oh I love this! You’ve used a fabulous mix of DSPs and the banner stamping is creative and makes for a fun card. Thanks for joining us at FMS this week!
