Stampin’ Up! Garden Girl Sweet Thoughts

Good morning, y’all – it’s Friday!  Yeah yeah YEAH!!  This has been…a week.  That’s all I’m going to say about it.  So I am way more than ready for a weekend and two blissful days of not hearing my work phone whistle at me to tell me yet another e-mail has come in and WOULD YOU PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT … fill in the blank!!

Just sayin’.

I made a fun little card for you today that uses the Garden Girl stamp set…well, without the actual girl!…and a sentiment from the Ronald McDonald House Charities stamp set for the year Sharing Sweet Thoughts.  Take a look-see:

My layout is inspired by this week’s sketch at The Paper Players.

I started with a Whisper White panel and stamped the flowers image from Garden Girl across the bottom a couple of times in Old Olive Ink.  I added some grass – conveniently also in the same stamp set – across the very bottom, in Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz and Always Artichoke.  Then I used my Stampin’ Write Markers (I wanted the vibrancy from the markers – versus using a Blender Pen or some other medium) to color the flowers.   I used Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight on the flowers – and Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves.  And I gave the flowers some cute little faces with the Markers, too!

Next,  I sponged some sky in Marina Mist, using a Sponge Dauber, then added the butterfly from Garden Girl in Basic Black Archival Ink.  He was colored in Rose Red and Elegant Eggplant Markers.

Before I got to the clouds – I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add a sweet sentiment from the Sharing Sweet Thoughts stamp set, also in Basic Black Archival Ink.

I made the clouds with plain white Embossing Paste and the clouds stencil in the Pattern Party Decorative Masks set.  I did a first layer yielding “flat” clouds and let them dry.  Then I came back with my pointy Palette Knife and added some swirly puffy to each cloud.  

While my puffy-s were drying, I started building my picket fence.  On a piece of Wood Textures DSP, I stamped the Garden Girl fence image twice in Early Espresso and cut out a few pickets and posts.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Marina Mist mat, then built my fence.

I made the runner for the fence with a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon – from which I pulled a few strings.  I left strings on the top – one in the middle – and a couple on the bottom.  Then I used some Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card front and wrapped the ends around – securing it with scotch tape.

Since my clouds were dry, I went ahead and swiped them all with my Clear Wink of Stella to give them a little pop!

Then it was just a matter of nailing up my pickets and driving in my posts.

So to speak!

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals and some Liquid Glue to adhere each piece. And that was it for the card front!  

On the inside, I added more Garden Girl flowers  across the bottom of a Whisper White panel in Old Olive ink, and filled it in with some grass in Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz.  Up top, I added another little butterfly in Basic Black Archival Ink  Then I went to coloring again!

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Marina Mist mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I added some more flowers and grass to the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope…

…and sent butterflies flying across the flap.  They’re colored with the same Markers I used for the flowers!

Et Voila!  How cute is this Garden Girl stamp set?  I really love the fence – especially fussy cut and given some dimension on the card!  And the sentiment from Sharing Sweet Thoughts is…sweet! Hope you like! 🙂
