Stampin’ Up! Wetlands Seaside Shore

Good morning!  It’s Friday.  Which is 3 days after I ordered my 2016 Holiday Catalog Pre-Order to arrive in 2 days.

So – guess what that means??  Yep – I’ve got a couple of teaser pictures for you.  I fought my instinct to tear into the box like my 10-year-old self would have torn into a Christmas present under the tree.  You know the one – the one that would somehow – magically! – contain a HORSE!?!

But – I thought of you and restrained myself.  See?

Holiday Pre-order box 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers
You know when you go to the grocery store, and you spend $200?  And you can put it in your car in 6 bags?  You know that feeling, right?

Well – I’m not even going to tell you what that little ole box costs!  It never fails to amaze me how much stuff Stampin’ Up! can put in one little ole box! 😉

Check this:

Jar of Haunts - Stamps-N-Lingers
That’s Jar of Haunts – and guess what it coordinates with?  Yup – the Everyday Jars Framelits from the Annual Catalog.  Cute, huh?

Here’s a little something that I’m about as excited over as anything in the catalog…

Pine Bough TIEF - Stamps-N-Lingers
I do love pinecone things!  And so does my mom…  So – an embossing folder with a pine bough so works for me! 🙂

Here’s another lovely Christmas stamp set:

Star of Light - Stamps-N-Lingers
And one last shot of the whole box.  Cut I just like looking at it!

Holiday Pre-Order Box 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers
More to follow in the next few days and – spoiler alert! – tomorrow I’ll reveal the Stamps-N-Lingers 2016 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Shares!

So get ready!

Now – on to the card for today!  This one is another special request card – from the same friend.  This one is for her friends who live in California – by the ocean, and recently had to put their Alaskan Malamute to sleep.  So, she needs a sympathy card.

I bought a couple of non-SU! stamp sets, cuz she asked to have Malamute images.  But I was really drawing a complete blank on what to do with them once I got them!

And then, in the middle of my massage – yes, I get a lot of good ideas in the middle of massages! – it came to me.

Ocean.

Dog.

Beach.

Take a look-see:

Wetlands Seaside Shore 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I pulled out some new Seaside Shore shells and starfish, and some Bunch of Blossoms and Blossom Builder flowers.  And the cute little sandpipers from Wetlands.  I added all of it on top of an oh-so-obvious Serene Scenery DSP Stack design and….voila!

My Nautical theme fit perfectly with the Global Design Project’s Theme challenge #047:

#GDP047 Sketch
I started by cutting an oval (2 3/4″) in the Serene Scenery paper and a slightly smaller oval (2 1/2″) in a piece of Island Indigo card stock.  Then I SNAILd them together.

The dog image is stamped in Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake paper – then I popped the card front onto it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Wetlands Seaside Shore 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the sentiment from Thoughts & Prayers in Island Indigo under the oval.  I also used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the little sandpiper peeps in Soft Suede.

And then – I decided to get personal.  The pup’s name was Pluma – which means “feather”.  I thought, what if her name was drawn in the sand?  So – I did!  With my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker.

Wetlands Seaside Shore 9 - Stamps-N-Lingers
And – can you tell that’s a feather? I hope?

The final piece was to decorate the oval.  Do you see that “rope” around the window?  Well – that’s a little sneak peek – that’s the new Kraft Rope Trim (from the Holiday catalog!).  How handy that it looks so darned nautical!  I wrapped it around the window, adhering it with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue – and then tied the ends in a square knot (right over left, left over right!).

Wetlands Seaside Shore 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers
From the Seaside Shore stamp set, I heat embossed the shells in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the starfish in Gold.  And fussy cut them.  Then, from the Bunch of Blossoms set, I stamped some tiny centers in Island Indigo and stamped the larger flower image in stamped-off-once Island Indigo and fussy cut them.  Finally, I punched some of the star-shaped flowers with the Blossom Builder from some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  I used my stylus and rounded everything!

Wetlands Seaside Shore 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to add everything in as artistic a way as I could muster.  Then I added a few Pearl Basic Jewels and some Island Indigo and Gold Enamel Shapes!

On the inside, I stamped a Whisper White panel with a second malamute image that I’d gotten – I stamped it in Crumb Cake that I’d stamped off once.  I SNAILd that panel to an Island Indigo mat.  Then, I stamped more of the Wetlands sandpipers on a strip of the Serene Scenery DSP, SNAILd it on Island Indigo and added it to the inner liner.

Wetlands Seaside Shore 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I SNAILd the panel into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

Wetlands Seaside Shore 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added the malamute in Crumb Cake on the front…

Wetlands Seaside Shore 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers
…and added some Soft Suede Wetlands sandpipers and a custom envelope flap with Serene Scenery DSP.

Wetlands Seaside Shore 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers
Et Voila!  I image that in her lifetime, Pluma probably played and ran with her parents on the beach a lot.  I hope this will bring a happy memory to them when they receive it!  Who knew?  Seaside Shore and Wetlands as a sympathy card for the loss of a pet.  Hmmm. 😉
