Stampin’ Up! You’re So Lovely Summer Silhouettes and a Blog Candy Winner!

Hello Monday! Hope y’all had a great weekend!

We had a Blog Candy Winner – from a lot of comments. Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by! Read on and I’ll share the winner’s name at the end of this post!

I’ll get right into the share today – won’t waste your time with a lot of blather about non-card-stuff! My card today uses the Summer Silhouettes and You’re So Lovely stamp sets. Very simple and easy – using a sponging technique that I saw on Pinterest. Stamp & Create With Sabrina is the website where I saw the original card that led me to mine today!  Take a look-see:

I was playing along with this week’s challenge over at Pals Paper Arts.  PPA 295 was a color challenge:

PPA 295 Sketch

I started out by cutting a Whisper White card stock panel for my card front.  Using Sticky Note tape, I secured it to my Grid Paper.  Over that, I secured two strips of card stock to act as the mask for my sponging.

The photo on the left side shows how I secured the card stock mat.  Then I used a Sponge Dauber to sponge my Crumb Cake ink – you can see where I started my circular sponging on the mask and then moved into the card front panel.  That helps to control the amount of ink going on and also minimizes the BIG DARK SPOT in your sponge area.  What’s the cardinal rule of sponging?  You got it – you can always ADD more color,  but it’s darned hard to take it away! 🙂

Once I had the corner sponged to my exacting standards, I pulled off the mask and let my panel go!

You're So Sweet Summer Silhouette 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I pulled out the Summer Silhouettes stamp set and stamped two of the dandelion stem images in Cucumber Crush down in the corner.  I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the dandelion flowers on top of the stems.

The splotches and splats (Official Stamper-Words) are stamped in Bermuda Bay – and come from the Timeless Textures stamp set in the Occasions catalog.  I stamped them all off once before I stamped the card.
You're So Sweet Summer Silhouette 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers
For the sentiment, I pulled out the You’re So Lovely stamp set – from the Occasions Catalog – and inked it up in Bermuda Bay.  It’s a Photopolymer set, so I was able to just line it up and stamp it where I needed it to be!

I decided I wanted to add just a little more…something…to the card.  So, I pulled out my Simply Scored board, and added little double corners on all four corners of the white panel.  Here’s a close up of the two top corners – the bottoms are identical!

Then I SNAILd it to a Cucumber Crush mat and added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Yes – I’d smudged a little bit of Bermuda Bay on my “white t-shirt”.  It happens.  Don’t judge.

That’s why the crafting fairies give us Rhinestones and Pearls! 😉

You're So Sweet Summer Silhouette 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers
For the inside, I added more of the Timeless Textures splats and splotches – this time adding in some Cucumber Crush.  I also reprised my Simply Scored corners.

You're So Sweet Summer Silhouette 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I SNAILd it to a Cucumber Crush mat and then into my Crumb Cake card base.  I popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

You're So Sweet Sumemr Silhouette 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I used a Crumb Cake Medium Envelope, adding more Timeless Texture images in Cucumber Crush and Bermuda Bay to the front…

…and added a Cucumber Crush design from the 2015-2017 Designer Series Paper Stack on the inside, cutting the paper with my Envelope Liner Framelits!

You're So Sweet Summer Silhouette 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers
Et Voila!  Quick.  Easy.  Highly customizable!  Change up the color combo – change up the sentiment – change up the silhouette you use.  GTG!

Hope that you like it and will try some of your own!

Now – for the winner of the Blog Candy!  I got a lot of great comments – overall Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon will be the most missed 2014-2016 In Colors – a sentiment that I heartily agree with!  I’ll be SO sorry to see Mossy Meadow, in particular, go away!

The handy Random Number generator churned and churned and spit out….#73!

Blog Candy Winner for 11 Apr 16
Comment #73 belonged to Roberta Koster – who wrote:

“I am going to miss BlackBerry Bliss. I love the richness of the color.”

YEAH!  Congratulations, Roberta!  I’ll be sending you an e-mail shortly to get your mailing address and then I’ll get your goodies packaged up and off to you just as quick as I can do it! 🙂
