Well, good morning! Here we are, half way thru the weekend, getting closer and closer to OnStage next week! Practicing my “whoo-hoo”ing – in preparation for the unveiling of the new 2016-2017 Annual Catalog! Should be pretty exciting. I’m also going to get to tour the home office, so I’m psyched for that, too! 🙂
My share for today uses the very pretty Annual catalog stamp set called Garden in Bloom. It has such pretty flowers – two step and three step images! I added a little sentiment from Greatest Greetings – in the Occasions catalog (hoping it makes it into the new catalog!). And, when you add in Birthday Bouquet DSP, this is what you get. Take a look-see:
My layout was inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch #442:
You can see that I turned it on its side…. 🙂
I started by SNAILing a piece of the Birthday Bouquet DSP onto a mat of Mint Macaron for the card front. I also cut a smaller square of the DSP, and SNAILd it onto Mint Macaron as well.
I SNAILd the small square onto the card front. It seemed like a good idea to use the Watermelon Wonder 1″ Stitched Satin Ribbon as the smaller rectangular element. I used two shorts strips of it, overlapping it a tiny bit to get the size I wanted (the overlap is hidden by the stitching in the ribbon – you can’t even tell it’s there! 🙂 ). I used a tiny bit of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card front.
The final piece of “building the cake” in preparation for the icing, was to wrap a length of the Pool Party 3/8″ Glitter Ribbon around the card front, securing it with some Liquid Glue.
For the flower art, I stamped two of the Garden in Bloom flower outlines in Watermelon Wonder on Whisper White card stock. Using the flower filler image (step 2), I filled it in with Blushing Bride ink. Then I fussy cut both flowers out and secured them together with a little dab of Liquid Glue.
Using some Mossy Meadow ink, I stamped the leaves outline on Whisper White and then filled them in with the second image – I inked the image in Mossy Meadow and stamped it off once before stamping the card stock. I stamped, filled and fussy cut four leaves.
To “ice the card”, I used my 2″ Circle Punch to cut a Mint Macaron circle and used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the leaves and the layered-up flower to the circle.
I used some Glue Dots on the back of the Mint Macaron circle and wound several loops of Silver Metallic Thread around, securing it with the Glue Dots. Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the art circle to the card front.
I made the sentiment banner by stamping the Greatest Greetings sentiment in Basic Black Archival Ink on a strip of Mint Macaron. I cut the right side with my Washi Label Punch – sticking the little strip into the back of the punch. Then I used another little bit of Liquid Glue to slide it under the flower and secure it to the card.
I was pretty happy with the card at this point, but it just seemed to need a butterfly! 🙂 So – I stamped the Garden in Bloom butterfly in Hello Honey – it’s a two part image, as well – on Whisper White. Then I punched it out with the Bitty Butterfly – it’s not an exact match to the stamped image, but it did a good job creating a little butterfly! I curled his little wings and glued him to the card.
The inside of the card is a Whisper White panel, with a piece of Birthday Bouquet DSP adhered to a length of the Watermelon Wonder 1″ Stitched Satin Ribbon. I ran it up the side of the white panel on purpose.
No – that’s a bit of a fib. I totally built the liner like I had my normal portrait orientation! Duh. Fortunately, it worked really quite okay having it go up the side. I got lucky! I SNAILd the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and then into my Watermelon Wonder card base.
I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I added an Iced Rhinestone Embellishment to the center of the flower. And a little line of Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the butterfly body. For good measure, I also added a couple more – one on the sentiment banner and one on the small square. And that was it for the card. 🙂
The Whisper White Medium Envelope got a Watermelon Wonder and Blushing Bride Garden in Bloom flower on the front….
…and a liner from another piece of Birthday Bouquet DSP, cut with my Envelope Liner Framelits!
Et Voila! A pretty, cheery card – I love that fussy cut flower – it’s got a watercolor look about it and the shape is just…well, right! This one is destined for my young friend who graduated recently from Flight Attendant training – I made a card for her graduation (you can see it here, if you like!). She moved right away to Boston to start working – and it was a stressful few weeks. Her first flight was…memorable!…so I thought she might like a little card from home! 🙂
