Stampin’ UP! Modern Pine Tree Trimmings Flap Front Christmas Card with Video Tutorial

Good Sunday morning!  We’re half way thru the weekend and I’m hoping that you’re having a good one!  We’ve got gorgeous weather – the plants all went back outside to grab some rays – and the Christmas cactii all have buds – they’re fixin’ to BURST!! 🙂

My card today is the next in my Twelve Saturday’s Till Christmas video series – we’ve 5 Saturdays to go after today!  Which means you might want to get crackin’ on your cards if you haven’t!  Even if you HAVE – you might want to make this cool – and easy – Flap Front card featuring the Pine Tree Trimmings bundle and some black-and-white Modern Christmas Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

I first saw this fold at our retreat – my team mate, Tara Carpenter, brought this Fall-flavored beauty for us to make!

For my Christmas version, I scored a 5 1/2″ x 6 3/4″ piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock at 2 1/2″ for the large card base.  Then I scored a 3 1/2″ x 4″ piece of Shaded Spruce at 1/2″ on the short side – to make the front flap.

I put some Liquid Glue on the 1/2″ flap of the smaller panel – and adhered it to the inside of the back panel of the large card base – aligning the fold with the right edge of the card base.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere a 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Modern Christmas Specialty DSP to the right side of a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock.  I stamped a Pine Tree Trimmings sentiment in Pretty Peacock in the remaining white space.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the panel to a Soft Sea Foam mat and then onto the back of the card base.

Using Stampin’ Seal+,  I adhered a piece of Shaded Spruce & Soft Sea Foam 1/2″ Ribbon to the left side of the card front panel…

and a second piece to the left side of the flap front…

The ribbons end up looking like this!

I matted another piece of Modern Christmas Specialty DSP on a Soft Sea Foam mat and adhered it to the front panel of the card base with Liquid Glue, covering the ribbon.

In the bottom right corner of a 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Pine Tree Trimmings sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink.  Then I embossed the panel in the new Beautiful Pattern 3D Embossing Folder.

I matted the panel on Soft Sea Foam cardstock and adhered it to the flap front card – over the ribbon! – with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the pine tree from Pine Tree Trimmings three times – once each in Shaded Spruce, Shy Shamrock and Pretty Peacock.  I cut them out with the coordinating die in the set.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered one of the trees to the embossed sentiment panel.  Then I added the other two with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Note: be sure to not let the trees extend past the edge of the mat – or they’re likely to get crunched when the card is opened!

I cut out three little Pine Tree Trimmings stars from Gold Foil and adhered them to the top of the trees with Liquid Glue.

I added some – okay, a lot! – Pretty Peacock Faceted Snowflakes to the trees – and one by the sentiment – and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the three Pine Tree Trimmings trees on the front….

…and more of the Modern Christmas Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Wow – I love this flap front fun fold – so easy – but…so pretty!  The addition of the ribbon closure adds a beautiful touch.  I really like the Pine Tree Trimmings bundle – the tree images are fun and the sentiments work really well for your Christmas cards.  And Modern Christmas Specialty DSP is gorgeous – even when you don’t use the gold foiled designs! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

This is Finn.

Finn is hoping that his Mom will just walk on by and go have her coffee and wake him up…later.

Finn is ALSO hoping that his pesky neighbor in the smaller suite will…shut up and go back to sleep.

Spoiler – she won’t. 🙂

Such a pretty card! Love the fun fold design, perfect for the Christmas tee images! Poor Finn…it is rough being the big brother! 😉

Yes – it’s a LOT of work – and it’s exhausting. Fortunately, he’s able to turn it off at night so he can rest. Otherwise…who knows how long he could keep it up…the struggle is real! Thanks, Amy!
