Stampin’ Up! Cake Day Celebration Greetings Birthday Card

Happy Happy Hawmmp Day, y’all!  Hope your week is going well – we’re on our last full day of BackStage.  It’s been a great event so far and I’m looking forward to what’s in store today!

My card today is the birthday card that I made for Juliette’s fourth birthday.  I pulled out the new Cake Day bundle – there’s gotta be CAKE, right?! – the Greetings for All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack (easy peasy sentiments!) – and the Celebration Expressions Memories & More Card Pack.  Take a look-see!

I pulled some elements for this one from the Festive Friday Inspo List Challenge – bright colors. ephemera and patterned paper! 🙂

I started with two pretty cards from the Celebration Expressions Memories & More Pack – cutting them both down to 3 3/4″ x 5″.  I adhered one to the front of a Pretty in Pink card base with Liquid Glue and popped the second on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To make the yummy cake slice, I stamped the outline of the Cake Day cake in stamped-off-once Balmy Blue on a piece of Basic White cardstock.  I added frosting layers in stamped-off-once Fresh Freesia ink and sprinkly cake layers in stamped-off-once Pretty in Pink.

The sprinkles image for the frosting is stamped in Pretty in Pink – and the round “sprinkles” in Fresh Freesia.  I used my Paper Trimmer to cut the “inside” edge of the cake piece – and then fussy cut the remaining three sides with my scissors.

To make the chocolate ganache frosting (it’s my cake – it can be what I want!) – I used the die in the Cake Day set to cut out a piece of Early Espresso cardstock. Then I used the “drizzle” die to cut the drip-down-the-side.

I adhered the ganache to the top of the slice with Liquid Glue, then adhered the whole thing to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Note: I knew this card was 1) going to a little girl and 2) going to be hand-delivered.  So…I let my layers-flag FLY! 🙂

To decorate the cake – I used the Cake Day candle die to cut out four Pretty in Pink candles and adhered them with little pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The flames are cut from Gold Foil and also added with Dimensionals.

I cut out some Basic White and Fresh Freesia meringue kiss cookes – there are dies for that in the set – and some sandwich cookies from Pretty in Pink and Early Espresso.

To make the cookies – cut one cookie die and one “cream filling” die….

…then slide the white “filling” die cut into the slit that the sandwich cookie die creates as it cuts out the cookie.  Tip: slide the rounded top into the slit – the scalloped edge is what shows on the front – making the “filling”.

I adhered the white kisses along the top of the cake with Liquid Glue and popped two cookies over them with Dimensionals.

Then I added the remaining cookies along the bottom of the slice with Liquid Glue and Dimensionals.

I tied a bow from two lengths of white Baker’s Twine from the Black & White & Gold Baker’s Twine pack and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

I pulled out a die cut sentiment from the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack.  Using a Light Pretty in Pink and a Light Fresh Freesia Stampin; Blend – I colored the letters.

I popped the sentiment over the bow with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Finally, I added my new bestest go-to embellishment – the Clear Faceted Snowflakes – and the card front was done!

On the inside,  I stamped the sentiment from Cake Day in Fresh Freesia on a Basic White panel.  Across the bottom I stamped the Cake Day candle image four times in Pretty in Pink ink.  I stamped the “flame” in Versamark Ink,  sprinkled it with gold WOW Metallics Embossing Powder and heat set them with the Heat Tool!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the Pretty in Pink card base and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the candles on the front….yes, with the gold embossing (remember – hand delivered!)….

…and more of the Celebration Expressions Memories & More Card Pack panel on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Oh – isn’t this just wonderfully over-the-top fun and girly!?  I meant for it to appeal to my favorite little princess….

…and since it didn’t have to be mailed, I really had fun with it!  The Cake Day bundle is a ton of fun – and with some help from the Celebration Expressions Memories & More Card Pack and Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack…I think I rang the bell! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

After being worried that our flights would cancel on Monday, it was a nice relief to have a completely uneventful flight into Las Vegas.  As we got close to landing, I got this great shot of the Hoover dam!

After we got settled in our rooms – and enjoyed the view out my window…

we went down and had lunch with some friends from Las Vegas.

And they brought presents – which was really nice!

Maryanne Willequer, Betty Hiller and Vickie Norton (who couldn’t make lunch! 🙁 ) brought me a few things to take me back to my AF days!

Jenn Nei brought presents for the kids!  I feel like Finn will pick the clown fish as his!! 🤔

After lunch – and we sat there for a while chatting – it was a really nice few hours!! – Amy, Karen and I went up to get signed in for the event – and pick up some swag!

Pretty good way to get started, huh?! 🙂
