Stampin’ UP! Sunrise Sailing Book Fold Easel Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.  We’ve got a Theme challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table.  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

Our challenge theme led me to the seagulls – stamped AND die cut! – in the Sunrise Sailing Bundle!  Which was handy – cuz I’d been wanting to play with this one again – it’s very cool!  I used it to make one of my fave – and super easy!! – fun folds – a book-fold easel card! Take a look-see:

And – here’s our challenge theme!

I also used several elements on this week’s Festive Friday Inspo List.  I use Pink, Yellow. Embossing Folders, Swirls and Square Card!

I started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Summer Splash cardstock for my card base.  Using my Paper Trimmer, I scored along the long edge at 5 1/2″, 6 3/4″ and 8 7/8″.  I folded the 5 1/2” score as a mountain (like a regular card). Then folded the 6 3/4” score the opposite direction. Finally – I folded the 8 7/8″ score opposite that (so…another mountain).

I used Liquid Glue between the two closest score lines (5 1/2″ and 6 3/4″) – then pressed the card front to the back – this adhered them together and created the top-fold.

I matted two pieces of Summer Splash 2024-2026 In Color 6″ x 6″ DSP on Pretty in Pink cardstock.  One is adhered to the “book fold panel” – that’s the narrow panel where the Liquid Glue went – and the other to the top easel panel (between the glued section and the “easel”.

For the card front – the easel itself – I started with a 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock.  Using Small Blending Brushes, I added Summer Splash ink in the bottom portion.  Then I added Pretty in Pink near the top and then some Timid Tiger and Darling Duckling in the middle section.

I stamped the swirly waves images from Sunrise Sailing in Summer Splash ink across the bottom.  Then I placed just the Summer Splash portion of the panel into the So Swirly 3D Embossing Folder and ran it thru the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine.

I stamped the Sunrise Sailing sentiment in Basic Gray ink.  Then I matted the panel on Pretty in Pink cardstock.

To make the sailboat, I stamped the image in Basic Gray on a piece of Basic White cardstock.  I added the sail detail in Pretty in Pink and the hull detail in Darling Duckling inks.

I placed the sailboat die – and the stamped cardstock – into the Sunrise Sailing Hybrid Embossing Folder and ran it thru the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine.  That embossed the sailboat AND cut it out at the same time.

Using Stampin’ Dimensionals – I adhered the sailboat to the card front.  NOTE: when you make this – be sure the tippy top of the sail is NOT extending past the mat (or it’ll get bent up when the card is opened!).

I stamped the little bird image from Sunrise Sailing twice in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Then I die cut three more birds from Basic Black using the die in the set and adhered them with little dabs of Liquid Glue.

I added Liquid Glue to the easel panel of the card base and adhered the card front panel to that – just on the bottom half – creating the easel and the card front was done.

For the inside, I stamped a second Sunrise Sailing sentiment in Basic Gray ink on a 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ Basic White Panel.  Across the bottom, I stamped more Sunrise Sailing waves in Summer Splash and added some color with the Small Blending Brush.  Then I matted the panel on Pretty in Pink cardstock and adhered it to the inside of the card base.

For the easel stop, I stamped the waves in Summer Splash on a narrow piece of Basic White cardstock and added more color with the Small Blending Brush.  Then I embossed the strip in the So Swirly 3D Embossing Folder.

I matted it on Pretty in Pink and then adhered it to the inner panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals to create the easel stop.

I stamped the Sunrise Sailing gull three times in Tuxedo Black Memento ink – around the sentiment and just above the “water” on the easel stop – and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Sunrise Sailing waves and gull – and a little color – on the front…

…and more of the Summer Splash 2024-2026 In Color DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Okay – hard to decide what I like more – the Sunrise Sailing bundle – with the gorgeous Hybrid Embossing Folder? Or the uber-easy book-fold easel card!?  Let’s just go with…I love them BOTH!! 🙂
