Stampin’ UP! Floral Charming Day Tri-Fold Hidden Door Card for the SU Demos Fun Fold Blog Hop

Good morning everyone! Welcome to this month’s Fun Folds Blog Hop for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators!  We’ve got a talented line-up and…I think you’re going to like what you see!  This is a once-a-month hop and…all our cards will be fun folds!!  How cool is that?!?

I’ve seen a new-to-me fun fold out on the interwebs in the past couple weeks – it’s a Tri-Fold Hidden Door Card.  I thought it was cool and so…decided to make it for you today!  I decorated mine using some new Online Exclusives – coming on 1 July!  It’s the Charming Day bundle and gorgeous Floral Charm DSP.  I also added some texture with the amaze-balls Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder, too.  Take a look-see:

Now – there’s lots of tutorials out there – but…I selected the measurements from Patty Bennett’s version for my card.

I started with a 5 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ piece of Pecan Pie cardstock that I scored and folded at 4 1/4″.  Using the small leaf image from the new Charming Day stamp set (available 1 July) – I stamped the leaf all over the INSIDE of the narrow panel in Pecan Pie ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere a piece of gorgeous new Floral Charm DSP (also available on 1 July) to the front panel of the card base – and a second piece to the back panel.

Then I created the tri-fold hidden door element.  I cut a 3 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ piece of Pecan Pie cardstock and scored it at 2″, 3″, 5 1/2″ and 8″.  Then I folded it:

I used Liquid Glue to adhere Floral Charm DSP to the front panel (Blackberry Bliss) and the two inside panels (floral).

On a piece of Basic Beige cardstock, I stamped a Charming Day sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink.  In the corners, I stamped the small leaf image in Pecan Pie ink – then I colored the leaves with an Early Espresso and Pecan Pie Watercolor Pencils.  I adhered the panel to the inside of the tri-fold element with Liquid Glue.

I embossed a piece of Basic Beige cardstock in the Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder – angling the panel inside the folder to emboss it on a diagonal.  Then I cut it down to 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ and used Liquid Glue to adhere it to that remaining narrow panel.

Then I adhered the tri-fold element into the card base.

First, using Liquid Glue – I adhered the front panel of the tri-fold element to the front of the card base – aligning the 2″ fold with the edge of the card base.  Note – I made a sample using a Basic Beige card base and a Pecan Pie tri-fold element – just so it’ll be easier to see.

Then I folded the right-most tri-fold panel in…

…and then ….well.  Watch this short, highly professional video.

Didja get that?

After it’s folded and slid together – I used Liquid Glue to adhere the tri-fold element to the back of the card base.

Watch that video again if you need to!

Here’s how it looks with the actual card.

I embossed another Basic Beige panel in the Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to the final panel of the tri-fold (the hidden door).  I cut a large Charming Day leaf from Pecan Pie cardstock and adhered it to the corrugated panel with Liquid Glue.

Then I decorated the front of the card base!

I used the largest Stylish Shapes circle die to cut a Basic Beige circle which I embossed in the Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder.  Using Liquid Glue on the left side of the circle, I adhered it to the front panel of the tri-fold element.

I cut out three small Pecan Pie Charming Day leaves.  On a piece of Basic Beige cardstock, I stamped the large and lovely Charming Day image in Pecan Pie ink.  Using the Fresh Freesia and Melon Mambo Watercolor Pencils, I colored the flowers.  I colored the leaves with the Early Espresso and Pecan Pie Watercolor Pencils.

I adhered the die cut leaves to the circle with Liquid Glue, then adhered the floral image over the top.

I tied a double-loop Linen Thread bow and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the Charming Day sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink on a piece of Basic Beige cardstock and cut it out with a Stylish Shapes banner die.  I adhered it over the bow with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a champagne Drusy Embellishment and three Brushed Brass Butterflies – and…the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Charming Day leaves on the front…

…and more of the stunning Floral Charm DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Okay – this is SUCH a cool fun fold – I really love it!  And it really let me showcase the wunnermus Charming Day bundle and the stunning Floral Charm DSP!  Which you’re going to be able to get SOON – on 1 July!  Once again – the Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder has proven itself to be real workhorse, right?!  I love it so much!
