Stampin’ UP! Floral Split Panel Beautiful Butterflies Fun Fold Card

Good morning and Happy Saturday.  I’m a little sad – not gonna lie.  Today’s our last day here at the Happiest Place on Earth.  Tomorrow we’ll be getting up early and heading to the airport.  🫤  Tonight, though, we have our last event of the trip – and it’s a big party at Animal Kingdom!  Can you say…World of Avatar?!  Whoo-hoo!

For today’s card – I’ve got a super cute fun fold card that my friend Judi Hartbarger made for me!  It’s a Split Panel card and it features the Beautiful Butterflies bundle and some gorgeous Florals in Bloom DSP!  Take a look-see:

The card starts with a Summer Splash card base – 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored and folded at 5 1/2″.  With the card open all the way, turn the card base to the landscape orientation and use a Paper Trimmer to cut off a 1 ½” piece from the left end.  Hang on to this piece – it’s going to be the bottom panel of the card.  Cut off a second piece – this one 2 ½” wide – this one will become your middle panel!

When you rotate the card to it’s final portrait orientation – you’ll have a 1 1/2″ piece on the “front” and the remainder will be the back of the card base.  And you’ll have the 1 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ piece and the 2 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ piece left over.

Mat three pieces of Florals in Bloom DSP on Granny Apple Green panels – and then adhere them to the remaining “top” piece of the card base and each of the two leftover Summer Splash panels.

Keeping the card in its portrait orientation, line up the small bottom panel with the back of the card base and hold it in place (use an acrylic block or some such – like tweezers!) to hold it in position.

Put Liquid Glue on the top edge and bottom edge of the middle panel and center it, pressing down on the top and bottom panels for a few seconds to let the glue take hold.  Remove the tweezers and your card base is ready to decorate.

Use the two smallest butterflies and butterfly body dies in the Beautiful Butterflies set to cut out two Soft Sea Foam butterflies and their bodies.

Adhere the bodies to the middle of the die cut butterflies with Liquid Glue.  Adhere one butterfly to the lower left portion and one to the upper right portion of the middle panel using Liquid Glue.

Stamp the medium sized Beautiful Butterflies butterfly in Summer Splash ink on Soft Sea Foam cardstock and cut it out with its coordinating die.

Die cut one Summer Splash butterfly body and adhere it to the stamped butterfly.

Wrap linen thread around the middle panel a couple three times and tie a bow.

Pop the stamped butterfly in the middle of panel – over the Linen Thread – using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stamp the Beautiful Butterflies “Hello” sentiment in Summer Splash ink on Soft Sea Foam CS.  Use Paper Snips to cut out the sentiment and then use Liquid Glue (on the left back side of the sentiment) to adhere it to the middle panel – tucking it under the middle butterfly and letting it overhang the panel a bit on the right side.

Add a Shades of Green Hexagon to each butterfly (to give them little, shiny heads!) and the card front is done!

For the inside, stamp a sentiment from the new Pattern of Friendship stamp set in Summer Splash ink on a Soft Sea Foam panel.  Add a butterfly in Soft Sea Foam ink a few times – it looks like it’s flying from bottom left to upper right on the inside panel!  Judi made sure that the butterflies weren’t visible when the card is closed – I kind of like the “surprise” of it – but…you can make them show if you like that better!

Use Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the card base and the card is done!

The Basic White Medium Envelope got the closed-wing Beautiful Butterfly in Soft Sea Foam ink on the front and more of the Florals in Bloom DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love this cool fun fold – and it’s easy to make, too!  Decorated with some flitting Beautiful Butterflies – and Florals in Bloom DSP – it’s a pretty way to say Hello to someone special, don’t you think!?

Finn Fan Fix

He’s got FOUR spots to sleep that are soft.  And wouldn’t make him stiff and limp-y.

But…no.  The concrete is cool….

Addy’s maybe a little…smarter?

Such a pretty card! Love the fun fold design and the butterflies! Poor Finn..all of that fur is just too hot…Addy does look quite comfortable in her little bed! 🙂

      Yup – it’s hard to be a hottie! ;). Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Hi Mary, I love your PDF’s, and, just so you know, the one included here is for an Ocean Friends Book Fold Easel Card, NOT for the Beautiful Butterflies card. If that does exist, I would love to get a copy, thanks!

Hey Leslie – I actually fixed that PDF – but you need to go to the actual blog post for it – the link wouldn’t update in the e-mail. Or – you can find ALL the PDFs on my Free Tutorials page – there’s a link at the top of the blog page! Thanks so much! 🙂
