Stampin’ Up! Nature’s Paintings on Alpine Air Thinking of You Card

Happy Saturday, y’all!  We’re enjoying a little warm weather before another snow storm rolls in.  Fingers crossed that the Colorado weather peeps are wrong and…we can get to town for a doctor’s appointment on Wednesday! 😳

Now – I told you I had Wayne send me a care package – and he did.  But…I totally forgot to have him put any…uhm…STAMP SETS into the box!  What the heck, Mary!?  Fortunately – I did ALSO order two kits from Stampin’ Up!  And so…tapping into my amazing and awesome ingenuity (I WAS A Girl Scout, after all!) – I combined a panel from the new Nature’s Paintings kit and a card base and envelope (and sentiment!!!) from the Alpine Air kit! Take a look-see:

The Nature’s Paintings Kit is really fun – and it includes a pad of printed Watercolor pages, a pack of Watercolor Pencils AND a Water Painter!

I’m not a very good watercolor-er so…I was happy to see that there are TWO of each pretty design in the pad.  So…if I don’t like my FIRST try – I can give it another go!

I decided to color the very first design – in bright and cheerful yellow – with touches of Pumpkin Pie and Flirty Flamingo on the shading lines that are part of the printed design.

I used the pencils to add color and then used the included Water Painter – without much water – to blur the pencil strokes.

The leaves are a combination of the Garden Green and Coastal Cabana pencils and the flower centers are Early Espresso.  And I colored the frame around the flowers with the Garden Green pencil.

I used the Early Espresso pencil to add some doodle-dots and shadows around the leaves and flowers.

To turn it into a card – I stole a Shaded Spruce card base from one of the two Alpine Air Kits that I ordered.

I tore the Nature’s Paintings panel down so that it fits nicely on the card base and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals (from the kit!).

On one of the banner die cuts in the kit, I stamped the Alpine Air sentiment in Garden Green (I’d had Wayne add that to my Care Package).

I adhered the sentiment with more Dimensionals and then added some sequin embellishments – part of the Alpine Air Kit.  And that was all I did on the card!

The coordinating envelope from the Alpine Air Kit already has a decorated flap!

Et Voila!  My unexpectedly long stay in Colorado means I’m having to do things a little differently.  But – that’s kinda cool – because it lets me tap into the wonderful creativity in our Kits Collection!  The Alpine Air kit – you’ll see it in a day or two – yielded a sentiment, card base and envelope, and embellishments!  And the Nature’s Painting Kit has all I need to create beautiful card fronts! And practice my watercoloring!!
