Stampin’ Up! CAS Sweetest Star Merry & Bright Christmas Card

Good morning, y’all!  I hope you had a great weekend and that your week ahead is looking good, too.  If you’re recovering from Helene and/or Milton, please know that you’re in my thoughts every day.

So – a little story.  In order to be gone for a couple of weeks, I made cards.  Lots of them, actually!  And recorded some Shorts.  And generally prepped so that my being gone would be as close to transparent for you as I could make it.  In the course of that – I took all the pictures of all the afore-mentioned cards.

Except…todays.  Yup.  When I went to prep the photos to share there were….none.  So.  Had to punt a bit and find a suitable spot at my mom’s house.  You MAY be surprised to know that she doesn’t have a photobooth handy.  Weird, right!?! 🤷‍♀️ Which means…I improvised.  So – please look at the CARD – and not so much the photo qualities, okay?! 🙂

And the card we’re going to NOT judge for photo-perfection is a quick and easy Vintage-y Christmas card featuring the Sweetest Star bundle!  Take a look-see:

I did a quick video on how to make this one, which is posted on Instagram.  If you’d like to give that a watch – click here!

I started by stamping the snowflake image from Sweetest Star all over a Crumb Cake panel in Crumb Cake ink.

Using Glue Dots on the back of the panel, I adhered two lengths of Cherry Cobbler & Gold 1/4″ Satin Ribbon around the card front.

On a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock, I stamped a Sweetest Star sentiment in Versamark ink, sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool.

When it was cool, I used the bundled Sweetest Star Punch to cut it out.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the star to a piece of Copper Textured Metallic Specialty Paper.

Using Paper Snips, I trimmed around the Cherry Cobbler star, creating a mat from the metallic paper.

I adhered the matted star over the ribbon on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped the Sweetest Star snowflakes in Crumb Cake ink in two corners of a Crumb Cake panel.  In the center, I stamped a second Sweetest Star sentiment in Versamark Ink, sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel inside the Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Crumb Cake snowflakes on the front…

…and a few more snowflakes on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  In case you’d dismissed the Sweetest Star bundle as being silly or “too cartoonish” – maybe gove that another think, huh!?  I think this is an elegant, vintage-y card that anyone would love to receive at Christmas!

Thought you might like a peek behind the curtain.  My team knows “Vanna-Wayne” from our Prize Patrol meetings via Zoom (since we’re spread all over the country!).  Turns out he is MULTI-talented! 😉

Finn Fan Fix

We took my Mom’s SUV down to town yesterday and stopped to give it a little bath.

Wayne washed fast – you have to when you’re “on the quarters clock”!

Finn and I stayed in the truck where it was dry.

Fortunately, Finn’s supervisory abilities are strong.

He can keep things under control even from INside the truck!

I’ve got my eye on you and that wand, Dad!

Such a cute card…and the photos looked perfect to me! Love the Vanna Wayne photo…best one of the bunch! 😂 Good thing that the supervisor was there to assist with the wash…I’m sure that he pointed out any spots that were missed. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

He did. He’s a taskmaster and VERY detail oriented, as you might expect. :). Thanks, Amy! I’ll let Vanna-Wayne know! 🙂

  2. Tara Carpenter

  4. Terri Mitchell

Beautiful card Mary! I love the colors and it’s simplicity.

  5. The card is great… I wouldn’t even had known there was a problem with the photo.

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you so much!! I’m glad that the photos did justice to the card! 🙂

  6. Mary Katherine Knipp

Ya, know Miss Mary, I think you should write a book.
“The Fantastic Finn Adventures” or Mr. Finn takes a vacation .
You are so good at the stories of Mr. Finn and he is so photographs so well.

    • stampsnlingers

Aww – thank you so much! Perhaps one day I’ll give that a try – I’ve wanted to do a kid’s book about him, but…I’ve never set down to do it! Appreciate the kind words! 🙂

  7. Jeffie Kopp

I love this card, and will shortly be trying to copy it. Always love seeing the adventures of Mr. Finn, and have to laugh, pretty sure I built that car wash in 1989….!

    • stampsnlingers

Seriously!? That’s so funny! You lived up here in Colorado, huh?! Cool! Thanks, Jeffie! 🙂
