Stampin’ Up! Surfing Santa Beach Day Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.  We’ve got a sketch challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table.  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

I just mounted the Surfing Santa stamp set and…it felt like a good time to pull it out to make a really rad holiday card!  And – duh! – I needed to add some Beach Day die cuts cuz… of course!  Take a look-see:

And here’s our sketch! 🙂

I also played with the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge this week. I went down the right column (Border – masculine – markers) and across the bottom (Layers – die cut – markers).

I started by adhering a piece of Lost Lagoon paper from the Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP on Pool Party cardstock for the card front.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the main image from the Surfing Santa set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I stamped a sentiment from the set in Pretty Peacock underneath the image.

I stamped it again on a sticky note and fussy cut it to make a mask – which I placed over the image.

I stamped the waves in Pool Party ink all across the bottom of the panel.  When I lifted up the mask…boom!

I stamped the fun sun image up in the corner in Daffodil Delight ink and some “surf spray” in Pool Party ink.

Then – I got busy coloring with my Stampin’ Blends!

– The surfboard with the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Blends.

– The Red Solo Cup (you sang that, admit it!) is Dark Poppy Parade.

– His Santa hat and board shorts are Light Poppy Parade.

– The trees on his board shorts are Light Pretty Peacock.

– His Maui Jims are Light Basic Black.

– His face, arms and legs are Ivory.

I matted the panel on Pool Party and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Using the Beach Day dies, I cut out a Basic Black tree trunk, both palm fronds and the grass.  I adhered the trunk and the bottom palm frond with Liquid Glue then added the second frond and the grass with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.  And the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Surfing Santa sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink on a Basic White panel. Across the bottom I stamped the waves and sea spray in Pool Party ink. And, of course, the sun in Daffodil Delight ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel inside my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got a wave and some sea spray in Pool Party on the front…

…and a little more Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Kawabunga and hang ten!  What a fun Surfing Santa this is, huh?  With a little masking he can be riding the waves AND hanging on to his favorite libation.  Which is no doubt sweet tea, right!? 😉  And the Beach Day dies are one of my fave things – carried over in the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog and just waiting for your next project! 🙂

Cool dude! I bet Santa is glad he’s not riding the surf during Hurricane Helene! Looks like we’ve got some bad stuff heading our way but nothing like FL. Glad I’m outta there…they even have a tornado warning in my former area until 8:30 tonight.

  8. Cute card, even though it is not my idea of a Christmas card. To each his/her own. Great way to mask the image on the front and do those waves. He is a daring fellow! Love the palm tree.
