Good morning and happy Friday-before-a-three-day-weekend!! Whoo-hooo! Just as a heads up – I will NOT be doing a Zoom The Craftroom on Monday, 2 Sept! Y’all go have a picnic or something, okay!? I’ll be back in The Craftroom NEXT Thursday evening! 🙂
My card today is a fun fold – could you tell that from the blog post title? It features a sneaky look at the stunning new Sentimental Christmas DSP and the coordinating Sentimental Wishes stamp set and dies – both coming in just a few more days in the new Sept-Dec 2024 Mini Catalog. This pretty paper was a shoe-in for an accordian fold and…that’s what I did! Take a look-see:
Okay – trust me – the INSIDE is an accordion! Patience, Padawan!
You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards – at this week’s Creative Creases Challenge! I hope you’ll come and join us – we would LOVE for you to share YOUR fun folds with us!
I started by adhering a piece of the beautiful Sentimental Christmas DSP on a Basic Beige mat and then to the front of my Shaded Spruce card base with Liquid Glue. Note – the card base is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ – scored at 4 1/4″ – and folded as a side-fold card (a little different from my normal top-fold orientation).
I used the next-to-largest Stylish Shapes circle die to cut out a Basic Beige circle and adhered it with Liquid Glue.
On a piece of Basic Beige, I stamped the holly image from Sentimental Wishes twice in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I used the Light Shaded Spruce and Light Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends to color the images and cut them out with the coordinating die in the Sentimental Wishes set.
Using the little foliage die in the set, I cut out three boughs from Pretty Peacock cardstock.
Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the three die cut boughs and one holly leaf. I added the final holly leaf with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock, I stamped the Sentimental Wishes sentiment in Versamark Ink and sprinkled it with white Embossing Powder. I heat set the powder with the Heat Tool and let it cool.
Once it was cool, I used the large Stylish Shapes banner die to cut it out. I adhered it with a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added some gorgeous new Drusy Adhesive-backed Embellishments (part of the Suite – and available on 4 Sept!) and the card front was done.
Now – for the fun inside!
I started with a 5 1/4″ x 10″ piece of Sentimental Christmas DSP – I selected the perfect design to accordion-ize. Using my Paper Trimmer, I scored along the long edge at 2″, 3″, 4″, 5″, 6″, 7″ and 8″.
Starting with the 2″ score – I folded that one as a valley. Then I folded each successive score line in the opposite direction – so….2″ (valley), 3″ (mountain), 4″ (valley), 5″ (mountain)….etc.
I stamped the Sentimental Wishes sentiment on the back panel in Pretty Peacock ink.
To insert the fold into the card – I added Liquid Glue to the back of the panel on the left 2″ side – and then adhered it to the left side of the card base.
I used Liquid Glue on the right 2″ side and adhered it to the right side of the card base. That’s a lot harder to write than it is to do – so check out the video (at about the 33 minute mark!) to SEE how to do it if the words just made it worse! 🙂
Using the third-from-largest Stylish Shapes circle die, I cut out three Basic Beige circles. Using Liquid Glue on HALF of the back of each circle – I adhered them to the three inside folds – see how I made them sort of stair-step down?
For the decorations – I stamped the candle image from the Sentimental Wishes set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a piece of Basic Beige. Using my Light Shaded Spruce, Light Poppy Parade, Dark Daffodil Delight and Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends – I colored the image and cut it out with the die in the Sentimental Wishes set. Then I adhered it to the lowest circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I used the Sentimental Wishes die to cut out a stuffed stocking – right from one of the pieces of the Sentimental Christmas DSP! – and adhered it to the middle circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The last image – on the top circle – is from the Sentimental Christmas DSP – but…there’s no die for it so….I pulled out my Paper Snips – held my tongue juuuuuust right! – and fussy cut that booger! Totally. Worth. It.
I adhered the fussy cut image to the top circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Note: when you’re adhering the three little decorations – just make sure they don’t interfere with the folding parts!
I added one more sparkly Drusy Adhesive-backed Embellishment next to the sentiment on the back panel and the card was done!
The front of my Basic White Medium Envelope got the Sentimental Wishes holly on the front…
…and more of the Sentimental Christmas DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila. Okay – seriously!? Have you seen prettier paper than this Sentimental Christmas DSP!? I just love it – and that design I used on the inside is simply gorgeous! The coordinating Sentimental Wishes set – with it’s very traditional images – and sentiments in such pretty fonts! – is a perfect accompaniment! And…you can get them all SOOO SOOOON!!! Whoo-hoo!!
I hope you like!

Such a pretty card! Love the colors and the fun fold inside is perfect to showcase that pretty paper! And the poor girl…if you’d just take the net off, she promises not to eat the whole thing in one day. 😉
Hmmm hmmmm. Sure. She’d eek it out for TWO nights! LOL! Thanks, Amy! 🙂
I love holly like you love pine cones. This is a great fun fold and I adore the ephemera. Cady did a really great job on the hay bale! She is beautiful. Have a great weekend and I hope to see you tomorrow night.
Ahhh – so you love holly a LOT! This paper is going to be one you WANT for sure! Thank you so much, Karen! 🙂
Mary, a truly beautiful card, and I really enjoyed the video and always get a chuckle out your audio. I so enjoy your sense of humor. Best, Charlotte
Thanks so much, my friend! 🙂
Wow, Mary, this holiday card is gorgeous! I love how you used that DSP for the accordion. That’s really the perfect way to use it since it has space for a sentiment and a lovely design on the edge. I still haven’t got the urge for holiday cards yet; maybe September will bring that on. I hope you have a wonderful long weekend!
Thank you so much, Debbie! I love this new paper – and the fold was a lot of fun! 🙂 Enjoy the long weekend, too! 🙂
Not enough adjectives to describe how Ahhhmazing your card is! And glad you didn’t participate in the Pony Buffet installation!🫣 no more back injuries, lady!
Well – I actually did but…we’re both pretty careful with my back – and Wayne does the bulk of the work. But yeah – I am very much NOT interested in a repeat of that event, for sure! Thanks, my friend! 🙂
Your accordion card is so perfect for showcasing that beautiful Christmas DSP! I love the little die cut (and fussy cut! Had a chuckle about you holding your tongue “just so”!) images on the stair step circles, too! So sweet!
So fun to see your horse enjoying her buffet! How long will that last her do you think?
Hey Carrie – thanks! Holding your tongue just right is the secret to good fussy cutting!! :). I am thinking that bale will last her 4 – 6 weeks. Hoping! 🙂
Mary, This accordion fold sure shows off the dsp and images. Great job!
Thanks so much, Rae! 🙂
