Stampin’ Up! Iconic Frosted Forest Front Flap Birthday Card with Video for Creative Creases #87

Good morning and happy – believe it or not – FRIDAY!  Yup – here we are again on the cusp of the weekend.  And it’s ALMOST the end of July, too.  Wow.  That means – it’s ALMOST the end of the EARN portion of Bonus Days!  You’ve got about 2 more weeks to gather up those $5 coupons to SPEND in August!

Now – maybe, as you’re looking at your shopping list – you’re thinking about the Frosted Forest Bundle and some Iconic Celebrations 6″ x 6″ DSP!  These are some of our awesome Online Exclusives – and they’re the focus of today’s Front Flap Fun Fold Birthday Card!  Take a look-see:

Stampin' Up! Iconic Frosted Forest Front Flap Birthday Card with Video for Creative Creases #87 - Stamps-N-Lingers

You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards –  at this week’s Creative Creases Challenge! We’re all about the Fun Folds and I hope you’ll come and join us!

I started by adhering some Iconic Celebrations 6″ x 6″ DSP onto a Crumb Cake mat using Liquid Glue.  Then I adhere the matted panel to a Cajun Craze card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the Front Flap (which is just a small landscape tent-fold card in Mossy Meadow cardstock), I started by “flicking” color onto a small Basic White panel using the brush end of three Stampin’ Blends – Light Mossy Meadow, Light Cajun Craze and Light Crumb Cake.

Now – there are probably as many ways to “flick” color as there are folks who flick – but my clever friend Carol Buckalew (inkybeestampers.com) showed me this one – which WORKS great AND doesn’t do damage to the brush on your Blend.

With the panel on my work surface, I struck a solid object (in my case it was a metal utility knife) with my Stampin’ Blend – with the brush end open.  As I did that – ink magically LEAPT from the brush onto the panel.  I just did it – using the three colors – till I was happy with it!  Which was kind of a lot – cuz I was so tickled with how well it was working!

Using the bare-tree die in the Frosted Forest die set, I cut out a Mossy Meadow and a Cajun Craze line of trees.  I snipped the  extra “ground” off the Cajun Craze die cut – and then used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the back of the Mossy Meadow die cut – with the trees offset.  Check the video – linked below! – if you want to see how to do that!

I adhered the layered die cut to the bottom of my splattered panel with Liquid Glue and then snipped off the excess cardstock.

I adhered the panel to a Crumb Cake mat with Liquid Glue.

I stamped a Frosted Forest sentiment in Cajun Craze and the bird image in Crumb Cake ink.  I colored the bird – lightly! – with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend.

I added some gold Adhesive-backed Metallic Gems – and then adhered the card front to the front of the small Mossy Meadow card base with Liquid Glue.

For the inside, I added more Blends-Flickerings (I’m pretty sure that’s the technical term!) to a Basic White panel.  In the corner, I stamped the little bird in Crumb Cake ink and colored it with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin Blend.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the little Mossy Meadow card base – and then adhered the whole card to the main card base with more Liquid Glue – and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Blends-Flickerings (this is going to catch on, I know!) – plus the Frosted Forest bird image – in the bottom left corner of the front…

…and more Iconic Celebrations 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love when a fun fold is so easy, like this one, don’t you?!  Just pretty papers – and pretty images and some die cuts – arranged in a fun, different way!  Iconic Celebrations DSP is wunnermus – it covers SO many possible card-needs!  And the Frosted Forest bundle is amazing – one of my favorites, and I didn’t even USE the awesome masks that are part of the bundle!  These are Online Exclusives – just a couple of ALL the products that you can only find Online!  Like…here.

Thirteen states – and Puerto Rico! – will have Back-to-School Sales Tax Holidays this year and some Stampin’ Up! items qualify for the tax break in those states! BOOM!

The states with upcoming tax holidays are:  Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.  So, if you live in one of those states or Puerto Rico, take a second to download the spreadsheet below and mark your calendar!

Here’s the list of states having sales tax holidays, what the dates are and what SU! supplies will qualify for tax free purchases (HINT:  Stampin’ Dimensionals qualify in ALL the states! Just sayin’!) during the holiday (click on the image to download a full-size printable page):

Please note:  You have to place your order with Stampin’ Up! DURING the tax holiday period in your state in order to receive these items tax-free (so – that’s from MIDNIGHT on the first day to MIDNIGHT on the last day of the tax holiday).  Also, keep in mind that this is a STATE SALES TAX holiday and the state statute may not apply to county, city, and special jurisdiction taxes.

For those wondering about Georgia, Louisiana, New Jersey and Wisconsin, those states will NOT have the sales tax holiday this year.

Beautiful card! I don’t have much luck with flicking color, going all the way back to that weird SU gadget you screwed your marker into😜….will have to try this method.

    • stampsnlingers

I’d never had luck with it either. UNTIL Carol taught me THIS method. Give it a go! Thanks, Judi! 🙂

  7. Mary, Love this fold and the elements you used for Autumn. From the colors to your “technical” terms (wink, wink) you’ve captured and inspired us once again.
