Good morning, y’all! It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. We’ve got a sketch challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table. I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!
I went a little (long?) way out of my comfort zone on this one – I mean there ARE layers. And there are Dimensionals because…of course! But…there’s no twine. No moving parts. Just some die cuts and some ink. I pulled the fun Friends for Life bundle and a little left over triangle of Full of Life 6″ x 6″ DSP to make a fun birthday card. Take a look-see:
And – here’s our sketch!
I started by adhering a triangle of the Full of Life 6″ x 6″ DSP in the corner of a Basic White panel using Liquid Glue. I confess I didn’t really even measure it – it’s just a piece I had on my desk. For reference – the point on the left side is 4 1/2″ up from the bottom and the point on the bottom edge is at 2 1/2″. 🤷♀️
I used the leaf stamp in the Friends for Life stamp set to stamp in Pumpkin Pie ink on a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and then stamped it a second time – this time in Berry Burst ink on a piece of Berry Burst cardstock.
I cut them out with the coordinating die in the bundled Friends for Life die set.
I also cut the large detailed leaf twice – once in Crushed Curry and once in Berry Burst cardstock.
I set the leaves into place on the card front and then stamped the small heart image from the Friends for Life set around them in Pumpkin Pie and Berry Burst. Note: there are two hearts on the one stamp – but it’s easy enough to only ink one or the other! So – that’s what I did!
I adhered the leaves to the card front using Liquid Glue.
I used the large heart in the die set to cut once from a piece of Full of Life 6″ x 6″ DSP and once from a piece of Basic White cardstock. I kept just the narrow outline (the negative, if you will) from the DSP heart.
For the white heart – since this die leaves the die cut image IN the panel…
…I used Paper Snips to snip-snip that little piece at the bottom so that the heart would become “loose”.
I stamped the sentiment onto the Basic White heart in Berry Burst ink.
Then I turned the heart over and set the DSP outline heart into place.
Using Stampin’ Dimensionals – I “stitched” the outline die to the solid heart. You can see where I overlapped both pieces around the edges.
I used those Dimensionals to adhere the heart to the card front.
Finally, I added some Pumpkin Pie Adhesive-backed Shiny Sequins and the card front was done.
On the inside, I stamped the large sentiment word from Friends for Life in Pumpkin Pie ink. Underneath, I added the second word in Berry Burst. To add the hearts, I carefully inked first one heart – and then the other (EASY to do!!) – in Pumpkin Pie and Berry Burst – then stamped them around the sentiment.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the Thick Basic White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the two Friends for Life hearts in Pumpkin Pie and Berry Burst on the front…
…and more Full of Life 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! So…yeah. Not my usual jam, right?! But – it’s just so fun! Starting with the colors inspired by the aptly named Full of Life 6″ x 6″ DSP – and carrying thru with die cuts and a fun couple of sentiments from the coordinating Friends for Life bundle – it’s a pretty party on a card!!
I hope you like!
