Stampin’ Up! Merriest Trees Walk in the Forest Christmas Card

Good morning and happy Black Friday!! Are you still a little full from yesterday’s dinner?  I know I am – and I can still smell the smoker when I walk by it – which makes me want another bite of ham.  How can I still be full AND want a bite of ham?! 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Being Black Friday – there’s lots of good sales on and if you’ll read on after you check out today’s card – you’re going to see the Black Friday sale at Stamp-N-Storage, too!  It’s a good ‘un! 🙂

So – card!  This is a Christmas card with no front sentiment.  Have you made any of those?  I don’t do it a lot – but it’s fun every once in a while and sometimes a design really lends itself to that.  This one, with some pretty paper from A Walk in the Forest DSP (retiring soon!) and trees die cut from that paper using the Merriest Trees die set (carrying over – along with the coordinating stamp set!) – makes for a quick and easy card!  Take a look-see:

I played along with the theme challenge over at The Paper Players this week.  Okay, okay.  Clean and simple is…perhaps…a stretch…. 🤷‍♀️

I started by matting some snowflake strewn A Walk in the Forest DSP on a piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock to create the card front.

Using the Merriest Trees tag die, I cut a Pretty Peacock cardstock tag and a second one from some striped A Walk in the Forest DSP.

I cut out a little hole reinforcer from Balmy Blue cardstock – using a little die in the Merriest Trees set – and adhered it to the top of the DSP tag with Liquid Glue.

Then I adhered the Pretty Peacock tag to the card front with Liquid Glue and popped the DSP tag over top with Stampin’ Dimensionals – making sure that the holes at the top of both tags overlapped.

Using the tree dies in Merriest Trees, I cut out three printed trees from the A Walk in the Forest DSP.  Using Paper Snips, I trimmed the bottom “tiers” of the trees to get the size I wanted!

I adhered the trees with Liquid Glue.

I cut out three silver stars using the Merriest Trees dies and some Holographic Trio Specialty Paper and adhered them with Liquid Glue.

Then I tied a little bow from some…now discontinued (SORRY!) Glittered Organdy Ribbon.  I adhered it with a Glue Dot at the top of the tags.  Note:  if you didn’t have a roll of this ribbon, give the White 1/2″ Iridescent Ribbon a try.  It’s available in the online store but…it IS retiring soon!

I added three Pretty Peacock gems from the Tinsel Gems Four-Pack and the card front was done!  Look, ma – no sentiment! 🙂

On the inside, I stamped the Merriest Trees sentiment in Garden Green ink on a Basic White panel.   In the corner, I stamped the detailed tree image twice – once in Pretty Peacock and once in Garden Green!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pretty Peacock mat and into my Garden Green card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Merriest Trees detailed tree in Garden Green and Pretty Peacock on the front…

…and more A Walk in the Forest DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I am SO happy that the Merriest Trees stamp set and dies are carrying over (remember , though – the BUNDLE pricing will NOT carry over – so, if you want this set, get it now and save yourself 10%!) – it is one of my favorite sets!  And the Walk in the Forest DSP is gorgeous – and is our Make a Difference product (Stampin’ Up! donates $3 for each pack purchased to community organizations helping folks in need!).  But this paper IS retiring so…when it’s gone it’s gone!

Finn Fan Fix

Mashed Potatoes are a staple for our holiday meals – these, deviled eggs and a dessert are pretty much what I’m always taking to dinner.

But – Potato Mashers are HARD to get clean.

Fortunately – one of my smartest kitchen investments was a FinnCo-5000XL Deluxe! Getting the Deluxe model WAS a little more money – but it means it’s pretty much set-and-forget.  Well worth the up-charge!

The XL features an extra long tongue – guaranteed to get ALL those pesky little bits of potato skin. Again – a little more $$ but…worth it in the long run.

Saves so much water (no additional pre-washing needed – just pop your dishes straight into the dishwasher) – the FinnCo-5000XL Deluxe practically pays for itself!

Just doing my bit for the environment! 😎😎😎

P.S.  No – it does NOT come with a set of Gin-su Knives.  Sorry!

Such a sweet card! Love the colors and the mix of designer papers is perfect! Poor Finn…he always gets the toughest jobs. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

He does – but…he mans up and Soldiers thru! LOL! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Debra Anderson

Your card was great but the Finn Fax for today had me laughing out loud! I know my dog would LOVE to “help” clean the dishes, especially if gravy is involved!

    • stampsnlingers

Gravy is a huge hit, for sure – but…the FinnCo is (by design) not all that picky! ;). Glad you enjoyed it, Debra! 🙂

  3. Charlotte Hutcheson

Barry and I laughed out loud at the FinnCo Deluxe potato masher cleaner…what a great investment. I liked the card too.

    • stampsnlingers

He’s a LITTLE hard to fit in the drawer, but…otherwise… LOL! Thanks, Charlotte! 🙂

  4. JudiH

Stop it! 🤣 Tears are streaming down my face from the FinnCo story and photos! Oh my goodness, love your sense of humor! And love everything about the card…..sometimes the front is so wonderful it doesn’t need a sentiment til opening.

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – glad it made you chuckle! And glad that you liked the card! Thanks! 🙂

  5. Kate

I think you can get an Addy100xsregular for about 1/4 that cost.

    • stampsnlingers

You know us – we’re BIG BOX shoppers – Costco, Sams… LOL! 🙂

  6. Gail S.

I’m keeping this for an idea for next year for sure! DOG must have taken lessons from Finn, though he’s more of a “floor watcher” from a distance far enough away not to be a nuisance, but faster than a hand can reach down to pick it up if something small drops. Thanks for sharing both the card and Finn with us.

    • stampsnlingers

Finn prefers to be right in the middle of things. And – being that he has me pretty much wrapped…I let him! 🤷‍♀️. Thanks so much, Gail – glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
