Stampin’ Up! Flowering Cactus Life Can Be Prickly!

Good morning, y’all and happy Tuesday!  Hope your week is proceeding apace to the weekend.

Now – let me say, to start out….I hadn’t intended to use the Flowering Cactus Medley two days in a row.

I really hadn’t.  I even second and third guessed my decision.  But – once the card was in my head – I had to make it.  So…I hope you’ll give me a pass!  Take a look-see:

The layout is from the FUSION challenge this week – obviously I used the sketch side!

My friend and teammate, Pam Kean, had sent me a card a while back and I loved it!

On Monday, my eye fell on it again and my brain said…make THAT – but with a cactus.  So – I did!

I started with a piece of Basic White that I embossed in the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.

Next up, I cut a pretty piece of Flowering Cactus DSP (included in the Medley) using a Stitched So Sweetly rectangle die.

I adhered the die cut to the white panel with Liquid Glue, trimmed the excess with my Paper Trimmer and matted the whole thing on Mint Macaron for the card front.

I used a Stitched Shapes square to cut a Calypso Coral square – then used a Layering Squares die to cut out the middle to create a frame.  Then I snipped the frame on one edge.

I cut another same-size Stitched Shapes square from Mint Macaron and then “wove” the Calypso Coral frame around it – adhering the snipped ends with a little Liquid Glue.

I cut a smaller Stitched Shapes square from Basic White and adhered it with Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered the whole thing over the Stitched So Sweetly DSP piece with Liquid Glue.

I used a die in the Flowering Cactus Medley to cut one of the Calypso Coral-tinged cacti from the Flowering Cactus DSP and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a narrow strip of Basic White, I stamped the Flowering Cactus sentiment in Mossy Meadow.  Then I popped it across the bottom of the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used some Glue Dots to adhere a few of the Calypso Coral felt embellishments and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second Flowering Cactus sentiment in Mossy Meadow.  Next to it, in stamped-off-once Calypso Coral, I added a pretty double-flower.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and into my Mossy Meadow card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the flower image again – but in full strength Calypso Coral – on the front…

…and more of the Flowering Cactus DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  So…can you forgive me??  I really love how this turned out (thanks, Pam, for the inspiration!) and I am really REALLY loving all the pieces and parts that you get when you snap up the Flowering Cactus Medley!!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Just a little look at some “Spring” around the farm!

Really pretty long-view of the pasture with the girls.

A little closer – can’t help it – I love this time of year, here!  Of course, I’m also a little partial to those golden girls in the late afternoon sunshine! 🙂

And…the camera lens filters out the massive clouds of yellow pollen floating all over here and there!
