Stampin’ Up! Heartfelt Heart to Heart Valentine

Well – good day-after-Super-Bowl Sunday (and also – day after Groundhog Day!).  Did you watch the game?  We did.  No dog in this year’s hunt, but…it’s the thing to do, right??  And boy – I’m glad we did!  What a great game!  KC – talk about keeping their heads up and driving thru to the other side.  I was real happy to see them win.  In the immortal words of Sir Alexander Dane: Never give up. Never surrender!

Also – apparently Spring is right around the corner.  Whether your team won or lost – there’s THAT to hang on to!

My card today is another one for Valentine’s Day – this one aimed at a card for a friend (versus a card for a spouse or other romantic interest!).  I used the Heart to Heart stamp set and the Heartfelt Bundle – with it’s cool Heart Punch Pack!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is inspired by the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge.

And the color palette of grays, red and white comes from this week’s Color Throwdown.

I needed to start with the sentiment strip and the DSP strip so that I’d know where to stamp all my hearts!  A little different order of doing things, huh?

I stamped the sentiment from the Heart to Heart stamp set in Basic Gray on a strip of Whisper White.  Then I snipped a banner end.

I laid the strip on a Whisper White panel and used that as the starting point for the stamped hearts.

With the smaller lacy heart image from the Heartfelt set, I stamped twice in Real Red.  Then I pulled out the small heart images from the Heart to Heart set and stamped them in Real Red, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate.

Then I matted the panel on Real Red to make the card front.

On the side, I added a Real Red-matted strip of Basic Gray paper from the Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP, adhering it with Liquid Glue.

Using the scalloped punch from the Heart Punch Pack, I punched out a Real Red foil heart from one of the designs in the From the Heart Specialty DSP pack, and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I wrapped a piece of Real Red 3/8″ Double-Stitched Satin Ribbon around the card front – securing it in the back with Glue Dots.

I adhered the sentiment with Liquid Glue, and then added Rhinestone Basic Jewels – one on the sentiment strip and several around the stamped hearts.

A good-sized bow from the Real Red 3/8″ Double-Stitched Satin Ribbon, adhered with a Glue Dot, finished off the card front.

On the inside, I added a sentiment from the Heartfelt stamp set in Basic Gray on a Whisper White panel.  Then I stamped Heartfelt and Heart to Heart images in Real Red, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Real Red mat and into my Basic Gray card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more hearts on the front…

…and some more Basic Gray Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  These two stamp sets – Heartfelt and Heart to Heart – really work in concert to let us make Valentine’s Day cards for friend and lover alike, don’t they?  And I LOVE when punches – like the Heart Punch Pack (bundled with Heartfelt) – will cut images from Designer Series Paper like the From the Heart Specialty DSP.  SOOO stinkin’ handy!!  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

I’ve mentioned a time or two that Katy gets me up early to be fed.

Most mornings, Finn gets up with me.  Out of solidarity.

Also FOMO! 😉

But – like me, the early mornings tend to make him sleepy (“er” than usual) in the afternoons.

Sometimes I’ll take a short power nap in the recliner.

Finn – out of solidarity – usually does the same!

Frequently on the sofa – where he can keep an eye on me.

Just in case.

  1. Love your colors and design. Good luck in the challenges. It was a great game and I won all my money back in the pool and a little extra. Finn is so darn cute but I don’t know what FOMO means.

FOMO = Fear Of Missing Out! He’s got it BAD!! 🙂 Thanks much, Karen – glad you did good in the pool!! 🙂

  2. Such a pretty card! Love those colors, great way to use those hearts! Good thing that Finn is so supportive…you never know when a cat treat might decide to be disobedient and jump out of the bowl. I’m sure that he’s right there to make sure that things get cleaned up immediately. 😉

Oh yes – he’s quite the tidier-upper, for sure!! Thanks much, Amy! 🙂

  3. Such a beautiful card inside and out! Thank you so much for playing along with us over at the Color Throwdown.
