Stampin’ Up! Still Snow Globe Scenes for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a sketch challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  We’ve even got two new hoppers with us – please be sure to welcome Akiko and Karen to the fun!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

I decided to play with the Snow Globe dies – which is bundled with the beautiful Still Scenes stamp set – but…there’s not a snow globe to be found on my card!  Just some bears – some trees – and some plaid.  Take a look-see:

The sketch we all were working with today is…

And I also borrowed a color scheme – this one from the Just Us Girls Color Week Challenge!

I started with some Shaded Spruce and Night of Navy paper from the Wrapped in Plaid DSP and matted it on Gorgeous Grape for the card front.

My sentiment, from the Still Scenes stamp set, is stamped on a strip of Whisper White in Shaded Spruce.  Then I added faux stitches with my Gorgeous Grape Stampin’ Write Marker, embossed the panel in the Woodland Embossing Folder, and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

For the art, I cut a Stitched Shapes circle die from Gorgeous Grape and sponged the edges – mostly at the top – with Night of Navy, using a Sponge Dauber.  Then I popped the circle onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using the dies in the Snow Globe Die set, I cut three sets of trees.  The first is from Gorgeous Grape – I sponged those lightly with Night of Navy.  The second two were from different designs of the Wrapped in Plaid DSP.

I adhered the Gorgeous Grape trees and one set of Plaid trees to the circle with Liquid Glue.  Then I snipped off one the trees from the second plaid die cut and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I cut the two bears from Whisper White and stuck the baby bear on with Liquid Glue.  Momma is popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a flurry of Snowflake Sequins and a Gold Glitter Dot (from the Christmastime is Here suite coming on 1 Nov) and the card front was done.

On the inside, I used my Stamparatus to add a second sentiment from Still Scenes in Shaded Spruce onto a Whisper White panel.  Over top, I stamped the snow flurry image from Still Scenes in Night of Navy.  I stamped the image off once on a piece of scrap paper before stamping on the card and then stamped it a second time without re-inking.  A final Gold Glitter Enamel Dot finished it off.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Gorgeous Grape mat and into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Night of Navy snow flurries on the front…

…and some of the pretty Wrapped In Plaid DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Still Scenes and the bundled Snow Globe Dies will, in fact, make an awesome snow globe on your card front – when paired with the Snow Globe Shaker Domes.  But – you don’t HAVE to use them that way!  The images and sentiments and die cuts will come together perfectly to make a “regular” card!!  I hope you like!

Just like everyone else, I love this card! I have to be honest, and tell you when I first looked at the picture, my thought was, “Why in the world did Mary put the trees on upside down!?!” I saw the plaid as the background, duh! But once I straightened my brain out, wow, it really is impressive.
