Good morning, y’all – happy Friday!  Can you even believe we’re heading into the last weekend of 2018?  Sheesh!  Before you know it…the Big Ball will be dropping and we’ll be eating collard greens and black-eyed peas!

Well – WE sure will!  Why tempt fate by NOT eating them?!?

As we head into a new year and make our resolutions to be more efficient.  More organized.  More….together!…Stampin’ Up! and Paper Pumpkin helped us out with the December kit!  It’s called Day by Day and it created a cute 18- month calendar, complete with a box for gifting!  Super cute!

The kit contained the exclusive stamp set Day by Day, and two Ink Spots – one in Grapefruit Grove and one in Pool Party!

Each month – 18 of them, in fact! – has its own page, with a customizable sticker for the top.  And – the stamp set includes a cute little circle die, so you can stamp-circle important dates in each month!

The final calendar is really cute, especially with its pretty Pool Party ribbon!

Stampin’ Up! put together a quick video – check it out to see how to put your kit together, if you haven’t already!

Finn Fan Fix

The other night – on Christmas Eve Eve, we built a little fire in our outdoor fire pit – first one!

Finn “helped” gather wood.

By which I mean – Wayne gathered wood – and Finn tried to get it away from him!  Thought it was a new form of Tug!

Sorry – between the dark and me laughing – this picture is…not so good! But you get the picture!

We finally got enough wood together to have a decent little fire.  I had us some hot chocolate and a couple of Texas Cowboy cookies.  So we sat and contemplated the flames for a while, with our guard dog keeping us safe from…whatever he thought he heard!

It was a very pleasant evening, indeed!

Sounds like an “Oh, how lovely was the evening, was the evening” 🎶 sort of evening. Love it!
Hog Heaven gone is making the collards ‘n peas harder to come by. 😕

    • stampsnlingers

I bet Safeway deli has both and they’re probably pretty good! I cheat and buy frozen greens! 😉 It was a lovely evening for sure! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  2. Holly Paulson

Happy New Year. The December paper pumpkin looks wonderful.

Thanks, Holly – it’s fun! Happy New Year to you, too! 🙂

  3. Debra Anderson

I don’t usually make resolutions for the New Year b/c New Years Day is about as long as they last…LOL! This year though, I am making a resolution to ORGANIZE my craft room!!! Have label maker/ WILL ORGANIZE!!! We shall see what will be. It seems like an overwhelming undertaking but I don’t want to end up on an episode of “Hoarders”.

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – OMG yes. Craft Hoarders. I see a new DIY channel television series! I could be the pilot episode! Good luck with that, Debra!! Thanks! 🙂

  4. Paula Poindexter

What a nice way to end the year. A nice evening around the fire pit.
Your Texas Cookies sound interesting. What’s in them?
Sweet Finn just doing his thing.
I hope to be a bit more organized in the next year.
Thank you for sharing your creativity and your videos and Mr. Finn with us.
    Looking forward to another year.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks Paula – sounds like my resolution. It’s a hard one for me, for sure. Good luck with it- and thanks for the kind words! The cookies come from The Food Charlatan and they’re amaze-balls! I made them just like the recipe called for – except used maple chips cuz that’s what I had! Here’s a link: https://thefoodcharlatan.com/texas-cowboy-cookies-recipe/

  5. Ha! Finn is very helpful in all things. 😉 Sounds like a perfect evening to me!

    • stampsnlingers

It really was – too bad our plans to repeat it were foiled by…rain rain and more rain! 🙁 Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  6. Patricia

My New Years Resolution: Wake up with a smile &
try not to eat as much processed food or sugar.

    • stampsnlingers

Good ones, Patricia! I’ll wish you luck on those!! Thanks! 🙂

  7. Pam

Hi Mary! My New Year’s resolution is getting organized. Not very original, but our closets and storage room are have been neglected for too long. Of course, trying my hardest to stay organized is a big part of my resolution.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes yes yes. Me, too. I have GOT to do it – I’m overrun! Good luck to you, Pam!! Thanks! 🙂

  8. Karen

My resolution is to send more cards in 2019. I love to make them but don’t always get them sent out in a timely manner.

    • stampsnlingers

Sounds familiar! Which is why I always have a huge stack! Good luck with that one, Karen – thanks! 🙂

  9. Carrie Purkis

Love your comments and talent in putting cards together, so much inspiration.
Really haven’t thought of a resolution, have been trying to come up with a “one liitle word, ” something along the line of prayer…. always, consistently.
    Thanks so much

    • stampsnlingers

Sounds like a worthy resolution, indeed! Thanks so much for the kind words, Carrie! 🙂

  10. K. Boyer

I’d like to have more time to craft and be creative! And of course, try to eat healthier and continue walking every day. Thanks for a chance to win. I do love calendars!

    • stampsnlingers

You got it – good luck in the draw. And – yes, those sound very much like my own resolutions!! Thanks! 🙂

  11. Babe O'Mara

My New Years resolution is to send more “just because” cards. I need to stay more in touch with friends and family so sending a card for no reason seems like a good idea to me. Thanks for a chance to win.

    • stampsnlingers

That does, indeed, seem like a great resolution! I hope you achieve it, Babe! Thanks! 🙂

  12. Kathy Beemer

Love the little campfire story. Finn is so cute. What are Texas Cowboy Cookies? Share the recipe? And my NY resolution is nothing new under the sun……I want (need) to lose weight. Wish me luck!

    • stampsnlingers

Texas Cowboy Cookies are a yummy recipe I found on The Food Charlatan’s blog. Here’s the link: https://thefoodcharlatan.com/texas-cowboy-cookies-recipe/ I made them exactly as written – expect I used Maple Chips instead of PB cuz that’s what I had for the first batch – and I loved it so much that I used them again in the second! Enjoy!! Good luck with your resolution, Kathy – thanks! 🙂

  13. Lila

Hi Mary, I really have enjoyed your inspiration this year. The cards you make are so pretty. I really want to lose some weight this year and your article was a great inspiration. It will be something to read every time I think I think about quitting with a weight control program. Thanks.

    • stampsnlingers

Sounds pretty familiar, Lila – I’m now at the “keep what I’ve got” point. Feels like a life-long battle, huh? So happy that you’ve enjoyed the blogs and cards this year!! Thanks! 🙂

  14. Elisha Smith

Okay – I have to make the Cowboy Cookies – YUM! Love your fire pit – what fun – so glad Finn contributes! Lol! My resolution is to do a total overhaul on my craft room so I can be more creative. Wishing you a very Happy New Year!!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – and do NOT forget to eat some of the batter. It is RIDICULOUSLY yummy!! Happy baking, Elisha! And good luck with the craft room overhaul. That’s my number two goal this year (#1 – maintain my weight loss!!). Happy New Year! 🙂

  15. Kathy Fennell

Resolution? 1) Loose another 20lbs 2) Clean out my craft room and donate the supplies to the local retirement home & 3) Find a way to win the war with USPS for all the un-delivered cards that I made for
family & friends and paid extra postage on as well. Now probably 2 to many so I will go with #3.lol!!!! I will find a way to win the war 🙂 Hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New Year!

    • stampsnlingers

If you win THAT war, let me know, please. I have an ongoing battle with USPS!! Grrr! Good luck, Kathy – and thank you! 🙂

  16. Maryanne Willequer

On the personal side, o am hoping to pray more in 2019. On the fun side, I hope to make cards using as much DSP as I can! Time to put a dent in the paper stash, I think. Thanks for all the great projects you had in 2018, Mary!

    • stampsnlingers

Great resolutions, Maryanne! Good luck in achieving them – thanks! 🙂

  17. Angie

Sounds like a perfect evening – just love a good fire. I’m afraid my New Year’s resolution is not very original: I’m going to exercise more . . . I think I’m really ready!!!

    • stampsnlingers

Original or no – we ALL try to do that! Good one, Angie! And good luck! 🙂

  18. Nyoka Smith

Hi Mary, I hope I am doing this right to be entered in the running for the Paper Pumpkin give away !! My resolution for 2019 is ” DESTASH, DESTASH !!!!” I am overflowing !!! Happy New Year to you and yours !!! God Bless !

    • stampsnlingers

You definitely did it right! 🙂 And yes. DESTASH. It’s the first on my list of “how to get the craft space organized”. And – my LEAST favorite part! Good luck! 🙂

  19. Karen

You have inspired me to lose weight! Thank You!

  20. Karen L.

Happy New Year to you & all. I usually don’t do resolutions for the year because they don’t make it too far!! But, this year I am going to TRY to be a little more aware of what & when I eat…..hopefully keep the 17lbs off that I have lost & maybe a few more will drop off……plus, I want to try to look on the positive side of things. We have so much to be thankful for in our lives & try to appreciate it & pass it forward. Thanks for a wonderful year of great ideas in the card dept. & all the great antics of your “fur-children”. Happy 2019!

    • stampsnlingers

Excellent goals, all! Thank you so much, Karen – glad you’ve enjoyed it! 🙂

  21. Jeannette Haynes

I really don’t make resolutions because I’m too weak to make them last … ha! Tho, my new year’s goal is to clean out my work room since I have tons of retired stamp sets. Also, to use more of my hoarded DSP. Thanks for a chance to win a cool Paper Pumpkin kit. I sure do like your blog and Finn’s adventures!

    • stampsnlingers

Oh gosh yes – I have GOT to empty out my retired stamps! Good luck with that one, Jeanette! Thanks! 🙂

  22. Carole

Since I am not a regular subscriber to Paper Pumpkin, this would be a great chance for me to try it. Plus I get to make a beautiful calendar if I win. Thanks for that chance.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes it would! Thanks, Carole and good luck in the drawing! 🙂

  23. Kay V.

This months Paper Pumpkin looks really fun. I have already started my resolution for 2019. Cleaning out every closet in my house and purging all those things that lurk there that I do not need or even remember why I kept those thing. Have one closet done and it looks great. So far so Good.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Kay – good luck in the draw. And in the closet cleaning out – I need to do that, too – SO BADLY!! 🙂

  24. Claudia Ingram

Finn’s Fan Club is a delightful part of your blog, Mary! This year I’m resolving to place a gratitude journal on my nightstand (done) and post in it each night before I turn out the light.

    • stampsnlingers

Excellent resolution, Claudia – good luck with it. So happy you enjoy the FFF’s! 🙂
