Stampin’ Up! Joyful Cross-Stitched Christmas!

Good morning, y’all!  Hope you’ve had a great week!

I pulled the new Cross-Stitched Christmas stamp set and made y’all a card with it – and I think I broke the code on the big Christmas tree.  I set it atop more of the pretty All Is Bright DSP.  Take a look-see:

I played along with this week’s The Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge (love Tic-Tac-Toe Challenges!!).

I started out by adhering a piece of the All Is Bright DSP on some Cherry Cobbler card stock for the card front.  Then I added another piece, also matted on Cherry Cobbler, adhering it with Liquid Glue.

Next up – the Cross-Stitched Christmas tree.

Here’s my tips for this sorta persnickety three-step image.  Ready?

First – use your Stamparatus.  Really.  You can actually place all three images on the plates (remember plates have TWO sides!).  It will help you line the images up, I promise.

Second?  I want you to deliberately stain your photopolymer stamps.

Oh yes – I said that.  I finally figured out that what makes it hard is SEEING the little cross-stitches.  So…I inked my stamps with Jet Black Stazon and when it had dried – cleaned any excess off.  But you and I both know that my stamps are now lightly colored BLACK.  Makes it MUCH easier to see and align the stitches!

Finally – don’t be afraid to practice on some printer paper or something.  Get it all lined up BEFORE you try to stamp your card stock! 🙂

Okay.  Onward! 🙂

I stamped the Cherry Cobbler stitches first – that’s the image with the least number of stitches on it – on a piece of Crumb Cake card stock.  The second image is in Old Olive and then I finished up with Mossy Meadow.

Then I cut the image with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelits die.  I used Liquid Glue on the left side and a Stampin’ Dimensional on the right side and adhered it to the card front.

I made a banner from a strip of Gold Glimmer Paper and my Banner Triple Punch and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I decided some greenery was appropriate, so I cut some boughs from Pear Pizzazz and Mossy Meadow with my Pretty Pines Thinlits.  I also cut a few berries from a Gold Foil Sheet.  These I adhered in a couple of sprays with Liquid Glue!

I made the sentiment by heat embossing the Cross-Stitched Christmas sentiment in White on a piece of Mossy Meadow.  I added faux stitches with my Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker and popped the banner on with Stampin’ Dimensioanls.

I finished off the card front with a tiny Linen Bow atop the tree!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment in Cherry Cobbler on a Crumb Cake panel.  I added a few White heat embossed snowflakes around the sentiment and added more of the Mossy Meadow faux stitches.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Cherry Cobbler mat and into my Mossy Meadow card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got some Cross-Stitched Christmas snowflakes heat embossed in white on the front…

…and the envelope flap got more of the All Is Bright DSP.  I’m sure you’re shocked! 😉

Et Voila!  I love this Cross-Stitched Christmas set and think it’s definitely worth spending a minute making sure you get a good image!  And I hope my tips will help you do that!  Hope you like!

  1. I was not prepared for your Finn PA…if you know what I mean…lol! Your card is delicious…can you say that about a card? That DSP just makes me drool as does all your wonderful layering.

    • stampsnlingers

Sorry for the shock – I DID try to warn you… 🙂 🙂 🙂 Thanks very much, Karen! 🙂

  2. Indeed! A two-headed cat? Lookin’ not too happy to be photographed for evidence!
Lovely card. I have argued with self about this set. Argument not settled, but this gets me closer.

    • stampsnlingers

Well – they’re pretty private. Not everyone understands that they’re pretty much harmless… 😉 Will be interested to hear the outcome of the argument! Thanks, Julie !:)

  3. Kate

Oh, very nice! Kinda miss all that cross stitchin’.
Am speechless about the kitty. Sure better than that 2-headed snake of recent news – if there is to be such a thing in any species. 😃

    • stampsnlingers

Oh, for sure! More mouths to meow!! 😉 Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  4. What a beautiful card! Love the holiday colors, great tip to try out the stamps and get them lined up on scrap paper before stamping the real thing! 🙂 Sweet two headed cat. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Not everyone can have a two-headed cat. THere’s a special license and everything… thanks much, Amy! 🙂

  8. That 2-headed cat is extra fat!! Put it on a diet. Love your card. Just gave you credit on my blog post for doing a take on a card you made some time ago. It stuck in my head so I finally gave in to it. May have to do the same with this one ’cause I love it so!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – almost as big as TWO cats, huh?!? LOL! Thanks so much, Shirley – can’t wait to see what you create! 🙂

  9. Mary, this is beautiful! I love the whole thing, but especially the SKETCH!!! What a great sketch, I will be borrowing this one for sure! Great idea about inking your stamps with Stazon so you can position them better! So simple but very helpful! Thanks for sharing this with us at the Paper Players this week!
