Stampin’ Up! A Night in Bethlehem Sneak Peek

Happy Hawwmp Day, y’all!  I hope your week is going well.  Mine so far has been…want-to-pound-a-half-gallon-of-Talenti-Gelato-with-hot-fudge-sauce-and-a-double-chocolate-brownie.  And sprinkles on top.  And maybe a little glug of Kahluha.

But I had a salad with smoked chicken and vegetables instead.

Sucky work weeks and dieting…pretty terrible combination.

Just sayin’.

My card for today – which surely is not a half-gallon-of-Talenti-Gelato-with-hot-fudge-sauce-and-a-double-chocolate-brownie.  And sprinkles on top.  And maybe a little glug of Kahluha…did use a beautiful new stamp set in the 2017 Holiday Catalog, which will bring a no-calorie smile to your face.  The new Night of Bethlehem bundle and a mix of metallics really created a lovely Christmas card.  Take a look-see:

This one was inspired by the sketch at the Paper Craft Crew challenge.

Screen Shot 2017-08-22 at 19.09.24

I started with a panel of Whisper White card stock.  To begin my little vignette, I inked up the Night of Bethlehem city image in Soft Suede and, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, stamped it twice, without re-inking.  On the second stamp, I moved it up and to the right a little.  With that offset and the lighter shade, it makes the image look like a street scene.

I rubbed over the card stock with my Embossing Buddy and then reinked the image – this time in Versamark.  When I stamped the panel, I moved the image down and to the right.  Then I sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  I matted the panel on a piece of new Champagne Foil.

I made the Mary and Joseph image by heat embossing it in Gold on a piece of Vellum card stock.  Two shepherds – one in Soft Suede on Whisper White and one heat embossed in my DIY “Champagne” embossing powder (equal parts Silver and Gold Stampin’ Embossing Powder).  I cut them all out with their matching dies in the Bethlehem edgelits (bundled with Night in Bethlehem stamp set).

I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig again to place the Night in Bethlehem sentiment in Soft Suede.  Then I added some stars in Versamark around the top and bottom of the “city”, sprinkled them with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated them up.

To make the large Night of Bethlehem star – I stamped it in Soft Sky on Whisper White and cut it with the die in Bethlehem Edgelits.  Then I lightly coated the image with my Fine Tip Glue Pen and sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Glitter.  Once it was good and dry, I popped it on the card front with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

I adhered the Soft Suede shepherd with Liquid Glue and then popped the remainder of the cutouts with Stampin’ Dimensionals (making sure to hide the dimensionals behind the embossed parts of the Vellum pieces).  To finish it all off, I added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

On the inside, I called on my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line up and stamp the second sentiment (and isn’t it wonderful!?) from Night In Bethlehem in Soft Suede on a Whisper White panel.  Over that, I added more star in Soft Sky ink.  Then I inked up the Bethlehem city in Soft Suede and added it at the bottom of the panel.  Finally, I stuck on a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

I matted the panel on a Champagne Foil panel and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the night of Bethlehem city in Soft Suede on the front…

…and more Soft Sky stars on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is such a pretty bundle – with the Night of Bethlehem stamp set and gorgeous Bethlehem Edgelits Thinlits.  And y’all?  I didn’t even use the two coolest beautiful-est cityscape dies in the thinlit set.  🙂  Hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix

My little sweetie loves watermelon.

Yes.  He’s got a bit of a sweet tooth!  He always gets a bite of carrot and a little bite of watermelon when the ponies get their’s.

But.  He also gets some in the house.  He and Wayne share.

Finn’s quite the delicate fine-diner!

You can’t see it, cuz it’s hidden by his body…but…his little paw-pinkie is delicately raised as he oh-so-carefully lips the watermelon delicacy from the fork.

He doesn’t daintily dab his lips with a white napkin after he’s finished.  Come on.  He’s a dog.

White napkins are for shredding and spreading all over the place. 😉

  1. What a beautiful card! Your embossing is just perfect and I love the clean design! Finn is too funny, love that he eats watermelon. Ginny is a fan of all human foods…especially those that fall on the floor while the kids are eating. Nothing dainty about her eating, definitely no forks involved! 😉

    • Thank you so much, Amy – isn’t this a gorgeous bundle?!? Yes. He’s quite dainty. When eating with a fork. All other times? Not so much! 🙂

  2. My bundle arrives Thursday…can’t wait. You made a marvelous card…LOVE it! Finn, watermelon and carrots…who would have thunk it! What a cute pic.

    • I know – but don’t think he’s a vegetarian. He’s definitely an omnivore!! Thanks much, Karen – enjoy your bundle!! 🙂

  3. This card definitely put a smile on my face. It is beautifully done. Love all of this gorgeous bundle.

  4. Gale S.

This is beautiful! I love this set. I have always been afraid to heat emboss again after embossing the first time. I guess I thought it would melt again, but yours didn’t and has convinced me to try! Thanks for the step by step directions (although I had to read through them twice!).

    • Thanks so much, Gale! I appreciate the kind words. One thing, though. I only heat embossed the city scape once. The stars are not so close to the first embossing that I was really pointing the heat gun at it. I think as long as you’re careful, you’ll be okay! 😊😊

  5. Elisha

Oh, I love the way you created a village! Super cool! Marvelous card!! Watermelon?! I’ll have to see if Killian will eat it – I’m sure there will be nothing dainty about it – even if I get out the sterling😂 I am so glad Finn isn’t spoiled😉

  6. Kate

    Beautiful card, Mary.
And enough with the Talenti descriptions!!! As I relish my 80 calorie yogurt, need no mind-pics of gelato with or without embellishment.
Finn is a watermelon aficionado after my own heart!

    • I know. That should tell you what kind of day it was – and what kind of week it’s shaping up to be. Thanks, Mom. 🙂

  7. What a Finn Fix! Love it! He may be a dog, but he THINKS he is human!
Stunning card. This is what, to me, says Christmas. Will be using this set MANY times. I may even CAS this one! 🙂 Love it.

    • Please – CASE at will! It IS a beautiful set and I just love the inside sentiment. Thanks so much, Julie. And human. Yep. 🙂

  8. Susan K

I had to go back to the catalog and look at this set again! Your card is much more beautiful than the samples in the catty! I love everything about this and especially the stars and jewels around the big, important star! Simply gorgeous! Might be one of those weeks but it’s not hurting your awesome creativity. There;s one of two things with the FFF: Wayne doesn’t like watermelon as much as i do or Finn is REALLY spoiled! 😂

    • LOL! Wayne likes watermelon a lot – but he’s marshmallow when it comes to the dog. Don’t tell him I know his secret! Thanks so very much for the kind words, Susan – it’s a spectacular set!! I hope you’ll snap it up!! 🙂

  9. Pam

Mary, that’s amazing! You continue to out-do yourself with each card. I had pretty much decided I would be using the Carols of Christmas set this year for my cards since I got it for “free,” but I’ll probably change my mind each time you make a new Christmas card! And I am uber impressed with Finn’s skills with a fork! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful cards – I love them all.

    • My goodness, Pam – what a sweet thing to say! I am, however, sorry for “enabling” you in your stamp set acquisitions! 🙂 Thank you so much! 🙂

  10. I just love your dog .. so much etiquite… very impressive =) … Watermelon …. He has that in common with Daisy.. She LOVES watermelon too!! …. your card is very pretty.
