Stampin’ Up! Reverse Word Sneak Peek!

Well – happy Sunday! On the way home – with my new manicure….mostly…intact!  Yes, I even went and got a manicure yesterday before the wedding.  I kinda hate going – I’m always pretty sure that as the technicians chatter in their own language, laughing and giggling, that they’re discussing the horrendous state of my nails!!  Also – a manicure will typically last me…a day.

Maybe.  If I sit around with my fingers splayed and hovering in the air. Which isn’t very likely given…well….life! 🙂

Bottom line…I don’t do it much!

On the other hand – ha!! – I really want to start doing videos and posting them for y’all.  So manicures may be something I need to do more of.  The trick will be finding a good nail color that coordinates with all the ink that’s probably also going to be gracing my fingers! 🙂

We’ll see how that works out!

The wedding was gorgeous – took place right on the water.  It was wonderful to see my friend so happy with his new bride – who is lovely inside and out.  And it was great to see my friends from work – who’d driven from Alabama or flown from California for the event.  I’m very glad I went! 🙂

And in case that’s not pretty enough – sunset over the water was spectacular! 🙂

For those looking for their Finn-Fan-Fix….take a look at my card and then scroll down to the end of the post! 🙂

My card for today is a quick-and-easy congratulations card that I made with the upcoming Sale-A-Bration stamp set called Reverse Words….

second-sab-4-stamps-n-lingers
I also added a sentiment from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set and a bit of Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

I love these two little stamps!  I’d be hard pressed to get such a perfectly “casual” look – would be like me trying to get Farrah Fawcett hair!

You know what I mean…looks like she just jumped out of bed and her hair fell perfectly into that “look”!

This one used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for my layout.

fms-274
And the color scheme comes from the Global Design Project, although I used two neutrals in addition to the challenge colors.

gdp-073
I started with a piece of Watemelon Wonder paper from the Annual Catalog Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP, SNAILd to a Crumb Cake mat for the card front.

Then I wrapped a piece of Emerald Envy 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon around the panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  I used a second, smaller, piece of the ribbon to tie tightly around the first piece in a little faux bow.

For my sentiment panel, I used two Sponge Daubers to directly ink the Reverse Words stamp with Watermelon Wonder and Daffodil Delight ink.  I stamped the image on a Whisper White panel.

The panel is matted on Crumb Cake and then popped over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.,  To finish it off, I added three little stars in Daffodil Delight from the Brights Enamel Shapes.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I pulled out my Flourishing Phrases stamp set and added the congratulations sentiment in Watermelon Wonder.  Then I used my Watermelon Wonder, Emerald Envy and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Markers to directly ink the flourish image and stamp it in the bottom corner.

I SNAILd the panel to a Crumb Cake mat and into my Emerald Envy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Crumb Cake Medium Envelope got another Flourishing Phrases flourish on the front – colored the same way with my Stampin’ Write Markers…

…and then I added some more of the Affectionately Yours DSP to the envelope flap.

FINN-FAN FIX….

So – you know I’m away from home, which means I don’t have any “today” stories.  I do, however, have a little story about what happened when Finn-Chewie stole a little people food…

More specifically…cabbage!

The other day I bought a head of cabbage at the grocery store and for some reason it was trying to shed leaves as we (yes, Finn was “helping” me.  He’s a giver!!) were unloading the groceries.

finn-with-cabbage

Haha!  See him peeking up at me??  He knows he’s probably not supposed to be trying to eat cabbage.  But…it was just soooo tempting, laying there on the concrete.  Woulda been a real waste just leaving it there!

He’s quite the environmentalist.  And concerned about the starving children….

Turns out, though?  He doesn’t even like cabbage!  So he tossed it about for a few minutes and then went on his Finn-way.  Looking for something else to put in his mouth!!

Guess there’s really only so much one little dog can do for the environment and the starving kids….:)

  1. Ha, ha, Sunday Funday Finnday! He is so precious with that “look”. When I saw that stamp in my SAB folder, I thought “meh”. Now that you have added your touch and color, I said, “yeh”. So, I guess my order 2/21 will be for $100 so I can get the glimmer paper and those two stamps. Then I’m done! There is nothing more I need until the end of May and that won’t be much 🙂 I may have to take my off your cards or there will be more wants! I’ll just look at the pics of Finn! LOL. I know exactly what you mean with the manicures. I AM looking forward to future videos though. Have a great day and that sunset looks like a card in the making!

  2. Cute card! I can’t wait to pull out that sentiment set and use it too. 🙂 Glad that you enjoyed the wedding, the venue is beautiful!

    • I love them! And yes – it was gorgeous there. I’d build a house right there if I was a gazillionaire. And if they’d sell it…. Thanks, Amy! 🙂

Safe journey Mary. I really like this card, which I find surprising because those are not colors I would typically use! Maybe including the crumb cake does it, I don’t know, but it is a lovely card.
BTW, I don’t do manicures either 🙂 But I would think buffed nails or a clear polish would go with any color ink!

    • Yep – that’s what I’ll probably go with – no color at all! Glad that you liked the card – I think it probably IS the Crumb Cake that did it – tones those bright colors down considerably! Thanks much, Julie! 🙂

  4. Mom

Sounds as if the trip was worth every miles! Spectacular sunset, even if it IS the wrong ocean.
Oh, Finnly…cabbage? Seriously? Glad he came to his puppy senses. Likely even the starving children wouldn’t like it. But A for effort.
    Nice little card!
    Be safe!

  5. Glad you had a wonderful time at your friend’s wedding! I love this card, so cool with that new stamp set, and I love what you did with the envelope. 🙂
