Stampin’ Up! Serene Summer Sunshine Birthday!

Well, on this Sunday of the three-day 4th of July holiday, it’s become apparent that I am in competition for the attention of my husband.

Yes.  There’s another woman.  And she has a long and graceful neck, a buxom and curvaceous body and she glides smoothly to and fro.  And she’s pushy.  She makes no attempt to hide her love for him – completely disregarding me or any prior claim I might think I have.

Duck Duck 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers
Yup.  Duck-Duck is in love.  She thinks Wayne is the bee’s knees.  The cat’s meow.  The bringer and giver of corn!

It cracks me up.  She’s started meeting us at the barn in the morning and the evening, now.  She likes the grass around the barn and appears to enjoy grazing “with” us while we sit and drink our coffee and wait for the horses to finish their breakfast.  If I get up and go in the barn, she’s fine.

But – should Wayne get out of sight…she gazes longingly into the tackroom – calling him oh-so-coquetishly.  Well – it’s really a pretty strident demand for his return!  When he does come back – she goes right back to her snacking and all is well in goose-land.

She looooooooovvveeessss him!  I’m waiting for her to be at the back door in the mornings – waiting for her one true love to appear. 🙂

Anywho – enough about the unrequited and misguided love life of Duck-Duck….Goose.  And on to the card for today!

This card is a birthday card that uses the fun Sunshine Sayings bundle and a little bit of the Serene Scenery DSP Stack.  Take a look-see:

I played along with two challenges for this one.  The first, Freshly Made Sketches #243, drove the layout.

FMS 243 Sketch
And the second was a theme challenge.  Just Us Girls #350 invited us to depict Summer!

JUGS #350
For me, dandelions really say summer.  If Duck Duck doesn’t eat a bunch of them soon….I’ll be inundated with the fluffy little buggers!! 🙂

So – to start, I cut a sunburst with the Sunburst Thinlit in Crushed Curry and used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere it to a Pool Party panel.  I trimmed the excess off the sides and ran the whole thing thru the Big Shot in the Fluttering TIEF.

The center panel is a piece of Serene Scenery, matted on Crushed Curry card stock.  I used a sentiment from the Sunshine Sayings stamp set and stamped it in the corner in Early Espresso.  Then I SNAILd the mat to the card front.

I cut two hearts with the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits – one from Gold Foil and one from Whisper White card stock – and adhered them to the panel with Liquid Glue.  The main sentiment is also from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits and I cut three of them from Pool Party card stock, adhered them all together and then used little bits of Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it on the card front.

On the inside, I used the flower image from Sunshine Sayings and, stamping it off once first, stamped it in Crushed Curry in the middle of a Whisper White panel.  Over the top, I stamped Happy Birthday from Sunshine Sayings in Early Espresso.

I added a gold heart from the Metallic Enamel Shapes pack, SNAILd it to a Pool Party mat and into my Whisper White card base.  I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

For the Whisper White Medium Envelope,  I used that Sunshine Sayings flower image and stamped it (full strength) in Crushed Curry and Pool Party on the front…

…and for the envelope flap, I did something a little different.  I ran it thru the Big Shot, with just the flap inside the Fluttering TIEF.  I hope you can see it in this picture – it turned out kind of cool! 🙂

Et Voila!  Happy summer birthday!  Gotta love the Sunshine Sayings and Sunshine Wishes bundle! Gotcha some, okay?! 🙂
