Stampin’ Up! Timeless For the Books Book Fold Easel Fun Fold with Video

Good Friday morning, y’all!  Hope your weekend is looking to be a good one!  We had no snow – well, I counted maybe…6 flakes? – but it’s been cold as a well-digger’s bucket!  Had to set up the heated water bucket in the pasture again for Cady!  Hoping this is winter’s last gasp!  I am very ready to be griping about being too hot instead of too cold! 🙂

My card today is a super easy fun fold – it’s called a Book Fold Easel card.  I made a card that would be great to send to any of your guy friends or relatives – using some Timeless Plaid 6″ x 6″ DSP and the fun new For the Books Bundle.  Take a look-see:

I settled on this for this week’s theme challenge at The Paper Players.  We can debate the “clean and simple”-ness of it! 😉

I made this card on my Thursday After Lunch Bunch video yesterday – if you’d like to see that – click here!

I started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock for my card base.  Using my Paper Trimmer, I scored along the long edge at the 5 1/2″, 6 3/4″ and 8 7/8″.  I folded the 5 1/2” score as a mountain (like a regular card). Then folded the 6 3/4” score the opposite direction. Finally – I folded the 8 7/8″ score opposite that (so…another mountain).

I used Liquid Glue between the two closest score lines (5 1/2″ and 6 3/4″) – then pressed the card front to the back – this adhered them together and created the top-fold.

I matted a 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ piece of Timeless Plaid 6″ x 6″ DSP on Lost Lagoon and adhered it to the book fold side of the card base.  Note: Timeless Plaid isn’t available right this second – but it’s expected back the week of 3 March!

To make the card front – the easel – I adhered a 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ piece of the Timeless Plaid on Lost Lagoon.

I stamped the sentiment from For the Books in Misty Moonlight ink and the little glasses in Lost Lagoon on a piece of Basic White cardstock,  Then I cut it out with the largest label die in Stylish Shapes and adhered it near the bottom of the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut out a piece of Basic White cardstock using the next-to-largest square Stylish Shapes die.  Then I embossed it in the soon-to-be-available Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder (get this AMAZEBALLS folder in the new Online Exclusives on 4 March!).

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the embossed square to the card front.

For the book – I cut the book itself using the For the Books die from a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock.  I cut the “paper” image (it’s the parallelogram shape) from Lost Lagoon and two little bookmarks – one from Lost Lagoon and one from Mossy Meadow – all of which I adhered to the book with a little dab of Liquid Glue.

To make the tassel:

– I cut out the long die from For the Books from Lost Lagoon cardstock – and then cut it in half.

– Using a Bone Folder, I curled the die cut.

– Then I rolled it up pretty tightly – and used a little dab of Liquid Glue to keep it together in tassel-shape.

– I put a little drop of Liquid Glue in the hole at the top of the tassel and then poked a piece of Lost Lagoon Soft Cording inside.

– Using a Glue Dot on the back of the book – I secured one end of the tassel cord

– I used a little bit of Liquid Glue to adhere the tassel to the front of the card.  Note: there was some discussion on the video about using a scrunched up Glue Dot here – that would work, too! 🙂

I added Liquid Glue to the front panel of the card base (the last panel of the easel) and adhered the card front panel to that – just on the bottom half – creating the easel/card front.

For the inside, I stamped a second For the Books sentiment in Misty Moonlight on a 4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White cardstock.  I adhered it to the inside of the card using Liquid Glue.  I colored the stars with the Light Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Blend (although I used Wild Wheat in the video – and I like that, too!).

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the two book images from Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I colored the books with the Light and Dark Mossy Meadow, Light Lost Lagoon and Light Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers.

I fussy cut the two images using Paper Snips and then adhered them together with a little Liquid Glue.  Note – when you make this, be sure the top edges of the two images are roughly even with each other.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the easel stop in place on the inside liner.

I added some Misty Moonlight gems – from the Tinsel Gems 3-Pack to the card front and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the For the Books stacked books in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, colored with the Blends, on the front…

…and more Timeless Plaid 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Okay – a Book Fold card – with a display easel element! – using the For the Books bundle!?  LOL!  I think it’s a perfect masculine card – the Timeless Plaid 6″ x 6″ DSP is MADE for it, don’t you think!?  And it’s got SO many color combos – you can mix and match to your hearts content!

Finn Fan Fix

Looks like a dog just chillin’ in the kitchen, right!?

In FACT – it’s the highly advanced obedience task called “stay down and don’t go see the cleaning people”.

You might not ever see it at the Westminster Kennel Club.  It’s WAAY too hard for that!
