Stampin’ Up! Wildflower Hugs for Love Make Me Smile Card

Good morning good morning!  Hope your week is going well – and it’s not TOO cold where you are.  We’re….really cold.  And looking for – maybe! – some snow this afternoon.  Schools here have closed pre-emptively so…we’ll see if that was a good decision!  Meanwhile – just cold and windy!

My card today goes back to what I consider my go-to fun fold.  No – I didn’t NEED to do a fun fold today but…it’s such an EASY fold that I thought…let’s do it!  It is – of course! – a book-fold card.  And it’s the perfect choice for some Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP and…a sentiment and punched shapes from the new Hugs for Love Punch Bundle.  This is a bundle you might have overlooked in the new Jan-Apr 2025 Mini catalog – but..hopefully this card will have you taking another gander.  Take a look-see:

I started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Pretty in Pink cardstock that, using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool, I scored on the long side at 5 1/2″ and again at 6 3/4″.

I folded the 5 1/2” score line as a “mountain” – so….you know, ”regular”! – and at the 6 3/4” score in the opposite direction.  Topographically speaking, that would be a “valley” fold!

Using Liquid Glue between the 5 1/2” and 6 3/4” score lines, I adhered the front of the card base to the back – just in that 1 1/4” area. This made the “book” or “side” fold.

And from there – it’s all decorating!  See?  Easiest fun fold ever!

I matted a narrow strip of the Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP on a Soft Sea Foam strip and adhered it to the book-fold panel (that’s the narrow front panel) with Liquid Glue.

I matted a second piece of the DSP on Soft Sea Foam and adhered it to the larger side of the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Pretty in Pink cardstock, I stamped a heart image from the Hugs for Love set twice in Pretty in Pink ink – and then punched them out with the bundled To the Point Label Punch.

I also punched two more shapes from some Soft Sea Foam paper in the Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP.

Using Liquid Glue, I attached the Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP shapes to the card front and then the Pretty in Pink shapes over the top.  Note – be sure that the shapes don’t extend past the fold – or…it’ll get all crinkled every time you open the card.  Nobody wants that! 🙂

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped one of the pretty frame images from Hugs for Love in Melon Mambo ink.  Then I cut it out with the To The Point Label Punch and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a simple bow using two lengths of new Gold Twisted Thread (could this be my new fave?!?) and adhered it with a little Liquid Glue.

I stamped the Hugs for Love sentiment in Melon Mambo on a strip of Basic White cardstock.  I snipped banners on both ends and then used the bullet-end of my Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Write Marker to add faux stitches around the edges of the banner.

I adhere the strip over the bow with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a Hugs for Love sentiment in Melon Mambo on a Basic White panel.  Then I added the frame in Pretty in Pink ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the card base and the and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got a Hugs for Love heart in Melon Mambo on the front…

…and more Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Well – is is any wonder that book-fold cards are my fave?!  Super easy – but…just a little different than a “normal” card!  And it’s great for decorating with the pretty new Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP and the Hugs for Love stamp set with its bundled To The Point Label Punch!  I really like this little bundle – and…hopefully you do, too!
