Stampin’ Up! Ocean Friends Sneak Peek Joy Fold with Video for Creative Creases #98

Good morning and happy Friday!  Hope your last weekend going into Christmas week is going to be fun!  We’re going to a movie today and then some – maybe – last minute Christmas shopping!

My fun fold card today is another sneak peek from the upcoming Jan-Apr 2025 Mini Catalog.  It features EVERY piece of the new Friends of the Ocean Suite – the Ocean Friends Bundle, the Friends of the Ocean DSP, Soft Waves 3D Embossing Folder AND the Sunny Days Iridescent Dots!  Plus – I used new Pastel Ombre Glimmer Specialty Paper – a new Online Exclusive available on 7 Jan.  I put it ALL together in a bright & cheery Joy Fold card.  Take a look-see:

You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards –  at this week’s Creative Creases Challenge!  We’re all about the fun folds and I hope you’ll come and join us – we would LOVE for you to share YOUR fun fold creations with us!

I started with two card bases – a large and a small.  The large base, in Summer Splash – is 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, scored and folded 3″.   The small base, in Lemon Lime Twist,  is 3″ x 8″, scored and folded at 4″.

Tip: the only “hard” part about a joy fold card is making sure you decorate the small card base with the fold on the RIGHT side – not the left!  Keep that in mind and you’ll be golden! 🤙

I started with some Pumpkin Pie paper from the Friends of the Ocean DSP and used Calypso Coral ink to stamp bubbles all over.  Tip: there are two bubble stamps in the set.  I placed them both on a single block and then stamped them randomly on the panel – turning the block a bit for each stamp.

Then I adhered the panel to the small front panel of the Summer Splash card base.

I adhered a large panel of a DIFFERENT design of Friends of the Ocean DSP on  the inside of the Summer Splash card base using Liquid Glue.

And I also adhered another piece on the inside of the front panel, too.

To decorate the small card, I first used a Small Blending Brush to add Calypso Coral ink near the bottom of a Basic White panel.  I embossed it in the new Soft Waves 3D Embossing Folder (available 7 Jan) and then adhered it to the front of the Lemon Lime Twist card base (remembering to keep the folded edge on the right as I was looking at it).

Using the dies in the Ocean Friends die set, I cut out the large coral die cut from Summer Splash cardstock – and five grasses (3 large and 2 small) from Lemon Lime Twist Pastel Ombre Specialty Glimmer Paper.

I fussy cut a little seahorse, a puffer fish and the little crab from a piece of the Friends of the Ocean DSP.

Using Liquid Glue near the bottom of the die cut  – I adhered the coral and then four of the die cut grasses to the small card front.  I also added the fussy cut seahorse (with Liquid Glue) and puffer fish (with Dimensionals).

I stamped the Ocean Friends sentiment in Berry Burst ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock and then used Paper Snips to cut a banner in the right end.  I adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Tip: on this little card – be sure that none of your die cuts or sentiments extend past the RIGHT side – if they do, they’ll get bent up every time that card is opened and closed.

I used Dimensionals to adhere the fussy cut crab by the left end of the sentiment.

I cut some little Ocean Friends die cut starfish – three from Berry Burst cardstock and three from a little Petal Pink Pastel Ombre Glimmer Specialty Glimmer Paper.  They’re all adhered – here and there and everywhere – using Liquid Glue.

I added some Summer Splash Sunny Day Iridescent Dots – they look like bubbles! – and the little card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the Ocean Friends coral in Summer Splash, the little grass image in Lemon Lime Twist, and some more Calypso Coral bubbles on a Basic White panel.  I adhered it to the inside of the small card base using Liquid Glue.

Then I used Liquid Glue on the back of the small card base to adhere it to the middle of the back panel of the large card base.  Tip – don’t worry about what that small panel on the large card base is doing – just adhere it to the middle of the back panel and it all works out magically! 🙂

I added another piece of the Friends of the Ocean DSP on the right-hand inside panel and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Ocean Friends coral, grasses and bubbles on the front…

…and more of the Friends of the Ocean DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Okay – I am love love loving the Friends of the Ocean DSP – it’s so bright and cheerful!  Great colors and fun denizens-of-the-deep to play with.  You can even use dies in the Ocean Friends set to cut out lobsters and crabs right from the DSP! Don’t miss the Pastel Ombre Glimmer Specialty Paper, either – in greens, pinks and blues, it’ll be perfect for adding some shine to SO many of your projects!

Wonderful nautical card, Mary! I’m looking at snow outside my window right now so your card is warming me a bit ~ only 4 more months to go! LOL I hope you have a blessed holiday season and look forward to seeing your beautiful creations next year!

LOL – yep, I’m already tired of being cold, but very grateful that I don’t also have snow to contend with! Thanks so much, Debbie! Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year! 🙂

  4. Mary,

I LOVE this bright and cheerful creation. I don’t usually do ocean type cards but this has me thinking twice. Fantastic.
