Good morning and Happy Sunday! Hope your weekend is going good and you’re getting to the end of your to-do list for Christmas! We’re making progress AND had time to watch a fun movie yesterday. It’s called Red One – with Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans (aka Capt America!). If you have a chance – give it a look! We liked it a lot.
I ALSO had time to make FOUR birthday cards – two of them on last night’s Saturday Nite YouTube Video! These are all made – roughly the same way – with a Sneak Peek at the new Birthday Celebration bundle and coordinating Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP – all of which you’ll be able to get on 7 Jan in the Jan-Apr 2025 Mini Catalog. Take a look-see:
Yes – I said I made FOUR of them!
The cool layout is from the Try a Sketch on Tuesday challenge.
And – I also played along with the Double Trouble Thing 1 Challenge! It was all about cards for Occasions!
For all the cards, I started with two 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ pieces of the Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP. I stacked them up (making sure they were all lined up) and then used my Paper Trimmer to cut both pieces from corner to corner. Keeping them completely stacked and lined up with each other, I rotated them within the Trimmer and cut them on the diagonal the other way. Note – if that was totally gobble-d-gook to you – check the video to see what I was trying to say!
The result was four triangles cut from both panels – making eight total triangles.
Each two panels – cut into eight triangles – made two card fronts.
Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the triangles to Soft Sea Foam mats – mixing the designs – butting up the cut edges and eyeballing a “normal” reveal all the way around the mat.
From there – each of the card fronts got a large banner – die cut with a Birthday Celebration die from a piece of Soft Sea Foam Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP – adhered with Liquid Glue.
For one of the designs, I stamped the banner with the Birthday Celebration sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink before adhering it to the card fronts.
Then I decorated them with die cuts from the Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP!
The first design got a die cut balloon – with a small floral arrangement – one card got Peach Pie flowers and the other Pretty in Pink – and then a die cut cupcake (notice that the wrapper on the cupcake matches the flowers on the balloon and the card base!), some die cut flowers and leaves. I used a combination of Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The second design features a banner for the sentiment – I stamped the sentiment, in Blueberry Bushel ink, on a small piece of Basic White (1 1/8″ x 1 7/8″) and two small Basic White banner die cuts (these were cut using the larger of the two small banner dies in the Birthday Celebration die set.
I adhered the cake die cut (from the DSP) with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I adhered the two small Basic White banners with Liquid Glue and popped the sentiment on with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Note – this is the design I made in the video, so…if you want to see how to assemble the banner – that’s the place to go!
I added the rest of the flowers and leaves (from the DSP) with a combination of Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Both card front designs got some of the new Party Dots (part of this suite and available on 7 Jan!) – in Peach Pie or Pretty in Pink – to finish them off!
The insides of all four cards are the same – pretty much! Using the images in the Birthday Celebration set, I stamped the word “birthday” in Blueberry Bushel on a Basic White panel. Then I added the word “happy” above it. I stamped a small stem from the set in Old Olive – and then stamped the flower – in Peach Pie or Pretty in Pink (to match the card base).
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the cards, popped the card fronts on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the cards were done.
My Basic White Medium Envelopes got the Birthday Celebration flowers on the front…
And more of the Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! This is a fun take on the stamp-n-stack (sort of!) and the new Wildflower Birthday Specialty DSP has wonderful designs that work brilliantly with this layout! And I love love LOVE the die cut flowers and cakes and cupcakes and flowers and leaves that come in the pack! There are ALSO two pieces of DSP in the pack that have small panels, sentiment strips, tags and more! Hint: I show you how to cut THOSE in the video! The Birthday Celebration stamp set and bundled dies are so versatile – you get number dies to add (if your recipient WANTS to be reminded of how MANY there’ve been!!) as well as stamped and die cut flowers and mix-and-match sentiments! BOOM!

That dog 🙂 I think most fur babies love small places to lay their big bods in! Your video last night was great AND afterward, I watched Red One! Thanks for recommending. I actually shed tears of joy at the end for “Captain America” 🙂
Yup – the smaller the better! Thanks, Karen! And glad that you liked the movie! 🙂
Such cute cards! Love the mix and match designer paper on the backgrounds and those die cut pieces are amazing! Finn does look a little stuffed into that tiny bed…but he’s still just a small dog in his mind so he fits perfect! 😉
